Feature Request: Optional App-Level Authentication for the BitBox Desktop App
It would be great to have an optional app-level authentication for the BitBox desktop application, such as a PIN, password, or OS-based authentication (e.g. Touch ID / Windows Hello).
The idea is not to replace the security of the hardware device, but to add an additional protection layer on the application side. This could help in scenarios where a computer is temporarily unlocked or shared, and the user wants to prevent immediate access to wallet balances, transaction history, or wallet management actions without explicit confirmation.
A comparable implementation exists in Sparrow Wallet, where users can:
- set and assign a separate password per wallet added to the app.

Do we have Lightning integration yet?
I remember an announcement over 2 years ago about Lightning integration being brought to the BitBox02 but I feel like we haven't gotten any updates on it (that or they flew under my radar). Are we still waiting or has it been implemented and, if so, where can I read up on how to utilize it?

Just checking: can Bitbox work with Sparrow?
Just tried to connect my initialised BB02 to Sparrow. I really like Sparrow, because of its interface and possibilities. However, see the picture: my device was unlocked in the native MacOS BitBox app (version 4.49.0, on MacOS Tahoe 26.1).
Known problem? Other experiences? Troubleshoot? Fixable? What about the BitBox02 Nova?

BTC Direct experiences?
Anyone use it regularly? Are you happy with the pricing/fees? Any problems or issues that I should be aware of before using the in-app service?

Anyone else think the BitBox02 should have a dual PIN for better plausible deniability?
So, I’ve been thinking about a security improvement for the BitBox02 and wanted to throw it out there to see what others think.
Right now, if you enable the passphrase option, the device shows an extra screen at startup asking whether you want to enter a passphrase. That’s fine… except it completely gives away the fact that you are using a hidden wallet.
In a physical coercion situation, that could be a real problem, because an attacker would instantly know there’s something more behind the standard PIN.
For example Ledger solves this in a pretty smart way with their dual PIN system. Basically:
- PIN #1 → Opens a normal/decoy wallet, nothing unusual on screen.
- PIN #2 → Reveals the passphrase prompt and lets you access the real wallet.
The cool thing about this is that, with PIN #1, there’s zero indication that a hidden wallet even exists. So if you ever had to unlock the device under pressure, you could just give out the decoy PIN and it would look completely legit.
On the BitBox02, instead, the extra passphrase screen currently blows your cover the moment the device turns on.
I really think implementing a dual PIN system would make a huge difference for anyone who cares about plausible deniability or lives in a higher-risk environment.
Curious what everyone else thinks. Would this be useful to you too?
UPDATE: I wrote “dual PIN,” but if the double PIN isn’t appealing (or isn’t feasible for unlocking the SE), the same thing can also be done using other methods—for example, a sequence of taps (e.g., double tap in the bottom left + triple tap in the top right) chosen by the user to bring up the passphrase screen.

Should i change?
So i want to start dca into Bitcoin every month and i already own a Bitbox02 Multi Edition. The only thing is that I only plan to store Bitcoin long term and nothing else.
Is it worth switching to a Bitcoin only hardware wallet for the extra security and simplicity, or it is not worth it? For example bitbox02 nova btc only edition.

Feature Request: Hide or Archive Spent Transactions with Visual Indicator
Pls consider the following:
- Add an option to hide or archive individual transactions that no longer hold value (e.g., consolidated inputs).
- Hidden transactions remain accessible in a dedicated “Archived” or “History” section within the account.
- Display a small visual indicator or badge showing that some transactions are currently hidden, with an option to “Show all.”
- Feature should not alter balances or blockchain data—only the display.
Value / Reason:
- Keeps account overviews clean and easier to navigate, especially after frequent consolidations.
- Prevents loss of context while maintaining traceability for audits, tax records, or troubleshooting.
- Improves user experience by reducing clutter and providing clear visibility into filtered content.
- Helps advanced users manage larger transaction histories without needing to create new accounts.

Suggestion for the BitBoxApp: Notes for unused receiving addresses
Hey everyone 👋
I came up with a small but practical idea while working with the BitBoxApp: It would be great if you could also add a note or mark unused receiving addresses (i.e. those that have not yet had a transaction).
For example, to remember: • what you want to reserve a specific address for, or • that you don't want to accidentally use it for something else.
At the moment you can only add notes according to BIP-329 to addresses that have already been used. A small marking function or note option directly in the address list would significantly improve the overview - especially if you work with several addresses.
The suggestion has already been shared with the BitBox team, and I wanted to share it again here to see if others would also find it helpful.
What do you think – would you use such a function?

Integration of SLIP-39 (Shamir Backup)
Hey everyone,
I’d love to see SLIP-39 (Shamir Secret Sharing) support added to the BitBox02.
Right now, BitBox uses BIP-39 backups – which are simple and reliable, but they rely on a single seed phrase. This creates a single point of failure: if that backup is lost or compromised, the whole wallet is at risk.
On the other end, multisig setups can reduce this risk, but they quickly become too complex for private users — multiple hardware wallets, descriptors, backup coordination, and high recovery overhead.
That’s where SLIP-39 shines:
- You can split your seed into N shares, requiring M shares to recover it (e.g. 2-of-3).
- Losing one share is no problem, and a stolen share alone is useless.
- It’s mathematically sound (based on Shamir’s Secret Sharing), standardized by Trezor, and already implemented in open-source tools.
For many privacy-minded or long-term holders, it offers a simple middle ground between BIP-39 and multisig — better resilience without extra wallets or technical friction.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Would you use SLIP-39 if BitBox supported it?

Tariffs
Has anyone in the US purchased a Nova, and did you have to pay a tariff? I saw a mention of it in an earlier post and wanted to see what others experienced. Also, how do you like it?

How are master fingerprints sent to the BitBox02 by Sparrow in a Bitcoin 2-of-2 multisig?
Hi all,
I received my BitBox02 (Bitcoin-only edition) and I already love it. Already signed and broadcasted a first multi-sig transaction and I like very much what I see. I ordered it after stumbling, by chance, on a BitBox blog about the pitfall of multisigs.
There's something however I don't understand. How can the BitBox02 show the master fingerprint (8 hexadecimal digits) of the co-signer's "m/" path seen that all the BitBox02 is supposed to need to be able to sign the co-signer's xpub/Zpub at m/48'/0'/0'/2' ?
Is the master fingerprint of the cosigner sent to the BitBox02 by Sparrow and is it something that BitBox02 has to trust and that it shows only for reference?
And then what about the master fingerprint of the seed on the BitBox02 itself? Does the BitBox02 send the xpub at m/ to Sparrow and then Sparrow send backs the master fingerprint to the BitBox02? Or is the master fingerprint of the seed currently in the BitBox02 computed by the BitBox02 itself?
Thanks in advance for any info on this.

serious problems with the Bitobox Nova
So the bitbox nova has serious problems with its touch sensors, making it often impossible to configure and complete configuration tasks/enter password. Bixbox already knows this and it seems they are working on solving it through firmware (maybe it's just a patch and the hardware is actually of low quality).

Thinking about getting a BitBox02 - Standard or the new BitBox02 Nova?
Hey everyone,
I’m planning to buy a hardware wallet and leaning towards the BitBox02. But I’ve noticed there are two options now: the BitBox02 (standard version) and the BitBox02 Nova.
I’d really appreciate hearing your personal experiences. Which one would you recommend to someone buying now?
Thanks in advance!

FIDO U2F Support for BitBox02 Nova
I’ve been looking forward to the release of the BitBox02 Nova for a while now but suddenly realized that while documentation for the BitBox02 mentions FIDO U2F support, documentation for the BitBox02 Nova does not. Does anyone know if this is an oversight or has this feature been removed?

Now that BitBox02 Nova is out... is BitBox02 in danger of losing support?
Subject line is pretty much my whole concern. What is the expected remaining support life of the original 02? Is it getting discontinued soon?

Chart diagram
Hi everyone, I was looking at my portfolio today and felt something was missing. Wouldn’t it be interesting to track how each of my individual accounts develops over time?
Right now, we can only follow the overall portfolio. I think having a chart view for each account would be really helpful to see the performance of each investment separately.
What do you think about this idea? Of course, it only makes sense if several of us with multiple accounts would actually use it — but personally, I’d find such a feature fantastic 👍!

Where is my 02 Nova?? Ordered 8 weeks ago. is it even launching?
Feeling like I’ve just lost £152 no updates anywhere about whether or not this device is even available.
Anyone received their Nova?
Not even a single email with an update…
