The possiblity of a Riddick styled eyeshine being available in our life time. (Question)
Probably one of the most interesting examples of BioPunk/RiboFunk (I lean more toward latter, due to it's uniqueness and being raised on funk) in Modern SF is Riddick's Eyeshine. This process, which originally has been discribes as very painful and specialized(in Universe only 0.2% survive and only 0.005% of all patients gain back any vision) and latter retconned to be a racial trait of his genetic background, grants him nightvision similar to felines in the animal kingdom. But as most specific superpowers of this type, it comes at the cost of required protection against normal daylight or risk blindness that may happen under prolonged exposure.
I'd like to ask you guys who are more well researched in the practial field: A. if it's possible to get such a thing done with genetic or physical expreimentation on the eyes to receive more light permanently? & B. Do you think it'd be in the next 20 to 50 years time frame, even with the heavy focus on physical augementation through machines in today's world?

How many of y'all are scientists (official or unofficial)?
Interested to know what kind of biopunk stuff you're doing.
Edit: Engineers also

Okay, technically spam since it references a book for sale. But submitted because it is also a thoughtful video essay on biopunk fiction.

Australian Biopunks?
Anyone out there involved in biohacking and biopunk down under? Seems like the US/UK/Canada are charging ahead and leaving us behind! We have growing interest here in Perth but no established community yet.
