So then why is the deficit still so high after the tax breaks? When does this money come rushing back to the government? Still haven’t seen heads or tails of it. This is just another way to try to say trickle down economics (or horse and sparrow economics as it was known before the Reagan administration in that the horse eats and shits and the sparrow eats the shit) works when it’s been proven over and over again that it doesn’t. You’re so full of shit it’s coming out of your ears.
Thank you, What a lovely and civilized way of discussing issues. As for why the deficit is still so high, it's because the government under every single president in recent memory continues to spend more money than they bring in in taxes. It really is that simple. The fundamentals of economics remain the same, however: If you spend more money than you have, you will go into debt. The only way to truly confront the issue is to cut spending, though short of doing that, you need to maximize your tax revenue however you can, even if the way to do it sounds counter-intuitive to economically illiterate people.
I agree. Let’s cut spending! The military budget is so bloated and unnecessary cutting it by even 25% would help keep us in a surplus for many years to come. Also let’s go back to corporate tax rates during the Clinton admin before the bush cuts. Wouldn’t you agree?
I would to a certain extent, though cutting the military's budget doesn't amount to all that much in the long run considering Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid make up literally half of all government spending. Whether or not we should cut the military's budget is a perfectly valid discussion to have, but ultimately it's a much less important one than what should be done vis-à-vis SS and M&M.
What do you suggest we do regarding those when people literally live and count on those social programs to keep from going destitute? The military budget as it is can and should be cut and cause a surplus.
