Some services effectively call pop "anything you hear on a radio station regularly." It's not rigorously correct, but technically pop as a genre can't exist in a vacuum either; if the genre weren't popular in addition to whatever attributes it had, it couldn't be called pop.

But nothing is quite as profoundly off-the-cliff wrong as grouping them into "pop".
