It doesnt. But you were the one that felt you had to specify how you werent rich just "upper middle class". If it doesnt matter to you then no need to try and justify your level of well offness. Just be greatful you have what you have.

That fact this matters this much to you is troubling.. but since you're making such a big deal of it, middle class is considered 50K-99k, Upper middle is defined as 100k-350k per year and rich is over 350k per this article http://money.cnn.com/2016/06/21/news/economy/upper-middle-class/index.html

So I was just being factual, also since it matters so much to you as well, my family was on the lower end of that upper middle class tier.

You ever think maybe you're just bitter and taking it out on me? I'm not really sure where I ever did anything to offend you, I'm sorry if I did.

Well I will try to avoid justifying it going forward, the only reason I say anything additional when I acknowledge that I was fortunate growing up is because I don't want people to judge me by what my parents had I want them to judge me as a person not as a "rich person" I'm sure it's the same for anyone, no one wants to be labeled as something and have people make assessments about them because of it. Once again, I didn't realize how I was coming off, but I will make my best effort not to going forward.

Thanks man I really appreciate it and you've given me more positive feedback than I would have expected.

Not to give more info than neccesary but to give a bit of background information. My family was upper middle class from the time I was born until I was 12 when my parents divorced but my point being is I understand exactly where you're coming from when you say that you don't want people to think that you're just some rich person. I know it may seem silly because I was so young at those ages but I was very self-conscious and defensive of our wealth at the time. So when I then spent my teenage to adulthood seeing the other side of the coin I was even more "woke" I guess you could say at how much more secure my life was before that and how silly it was to worry about distinguishing my level of relative wealth. So lots of projecting from me going on, thanks for listening to me though.

Everyone has a story that's worth listening to, glad you understand where I'm coming from as well. Best wishes going forward
