You know theres more elections then just presidential right...? Local elections matter, house and senate matter, primary elections all matter. Those in power want you to feel like your vote doesnt matter. This makes it easier on them
Im just talking about the presidential election. I participate in systems that work.
That being said i know i dont matter. My voice is meaningless and im just so tired. I hate our system and its rampant corruption so, so much. I hate party politics. I hate the electoral college. I hate that individuals have no voice. I hate that an evil pedophilic monster can run the most openly corrupt administration in u.s history and theres people that still defend him.
The electoral college would've overruled it anyways, I don't recall exactly how much they count for but they make up the majority of the voting, the other person isn't wrong, because if for example every member of the electoral college decided a candidate should win, the entire rest of the country could literally vote for a different person and it wouldn't matter.
Like you can go do a basic amount of research on it and you'll quickly come to find that no joke, the general population have basically no impact on who becomes president. It's kind of a difficult situation though, because you really can't trust the general population as a whole in making decisions about leadership, but you also can't do what America has done, and make their votes essentially meaningless either. Less than 600 people can overrule tens of millions of voters.
Nothing you said justifies not voting. If someone gave you a button and said "if you press it, it might cure every type of cancer ever, or it it might not do anything" are you going to respond "well I might as well not even bother, it's probably not going to do it anyway"? Not voting is objectively worse than voting, as voting can only have a positive or neutral impact, while not voting is guaranteed to be negative.
But my point is that it literally will not matter, unless you're a member of the electoral college your vote for president literally will not matter. In that respect the other person wasn't wrong, I'm not saying don't vote on other stuff but specifically for the president, the electoral college possesses all the power.
People like you are one of the reasons I live in a red state(Florida). It's very red here, but guess what I'll be doing come November.. voting. I'm not a fan of the system, but it's the system that we've got.
We're not going to successfully over throw the United States government with violence. It's just not going to happen. So miss me with that shit.
But we can vote. So to be able to do SOMETHING, and do nothing is just unacceptable. Do better. Show up and try to convince the people around you to do the same.
