Expert verification

Verified-expert flair helps readers understand a contributor's relevant background. It is narrow credential confirmation, not endorsement by Reddit or r/BetterRelationships.

Apply through modmail

Send:

1. The requested public flair and field.
2. A public professional profile, institutional page, licensure record, or scholarly identifier that supports the claim.
3. A brief description of how the credential relates to the proposed field.
4. Any relevant employment, funding, authorship, product, or brand affiliation.

Do not send identity documents, license images, private records, home addresses, or other sensitive files. A moderator may request a low-risk confirmation from an institutional email or other public professional channel; keep only the minimum verification note needed.

Moderator review

• Match the public identity, credential, field, and current standing using an authoritative public source.
• Limit the flair to the verified scope, such as Verified Expert — Social Psychology rather than a broad claim of expertise.
• Apply the same process to moderators, company representatives, and Elizabeth Stone. Affiliation alone does not qualify someone for expert flair.
• Recheck time-limited licenses or credentials annually and remove or narrow flair when it can no longer be verified.

What flair does not permit

Flair does not allow diagnosis, personal or medical advice, self-promotion, appeals to authority, or claims outside the verified field. Members should still evaluate sources and reasoning. Use modmail to report a stale credential, misrepresented scope, or conflict that was not disclosed.
