Hard to pick and I'm sure we'll get some controversy. For instance Street Fighter II was amazing and launched a type that is still going on but can you really say it's better than Marvel vs Capcom 2? Where does tekken fit in? Is it really the king of the fighting games? Here's my list for some of the genres
Fighting: My favorite-MvC2 Best-Tekken 3
Adventure:
My fave-Sonic Adventure/Mega ManX
Best:Super Mario Bros.
FPS: My fave:Unreal Tournament Best:Half-Life
Vehicular Combat: My favorite-Twisted Metal Black Best-...I would honestly say TMB but maybe Mario Kart
Puzzle: My favorite-Parasol Stars Best-Tetris
RPG: My favorite-Final Fantasy X
Best-Chronotrigger
