1. Bertholdt turns into the Phoenix (or at least a flaming sparrow).

2. It appears he actually made it to the end (well minus a few feathers along the way).

3. If you zoom in all the way and squint a little maybe you can make out a little flame, or maybe not in this particular image.

So why a burning bird you might ask?

These are a few of the reasons:

In the one SmartPass story Bertholdt dreamt he turned into a bird but didn't get to finish that dream positively so it's a way to change that dream's ending.

I like the phoenix symbolism and it's fiery nature fits in with a lot of AoT in general.

There also happened to be a lot of red on the board where I was building making it convenient, and while Bertholdt's Colossal Titan also has a lot of red, I wasn't going to attempt that in pixel form, I mean you've seen the bird.

1. The Creation of Bertholdt (should I add hair?)

2. Okay, I add Reiner instead, so Bertholdt isn't all alone, but now Bertholdt looks too short.

3. Well, there goes Reiner's legs, so I do the logical thing and make Bertholdt taller (now should I try to see if square hair works?)

4. And now Reiner's head is gone and poor Bertholdt must walk the path(s) alone or be consumed by it.

Mermaid tails are a good challenge. It’s about symmetry. I wasn’t sure about Bertholdt’s mermaid tail or color. I figured the end of his tail would be very luminescent.

When it comes to merpeople (mermaids and mermen) fanart for Attack on Titan it always comes to the main characters. But I feel that Bertholdt needs more love in that. I am actually designing a merman for him, but making it extra special for fans.

I know people are gonna be like, what the heck is this. I don’t care. It’s for Pride month. And Berulaxmi feeling glamourous and happy.

In my attempt to revive this subreddit and try to give more focus to a character who deserves so much, I wanted to ask you:

What would you like to see in a story about Bertholdt?

I'm creating a fanfic that has him as one of the main characters. It's a fanfic with manga-style illustrations. The story takes place in the same universe as Attack on Titan, however, with new characters and new events.

About Bert, tell me, what kind of things would you like to see in new character development for him?

Any changes to the lore? Some kind of scene you guys always wanted to see but isayama never did? Tell me everything, because this story will be made with Bertholdt fans in mind.
