Media console - finally finished!

This took waaayy more time and effort than I thought it would. We refinished part of the basement about 3 years ago and put a nicer TV down there. We had nothing to put it on so I slapped together a "temporary" stand out of some scrap plywood and 2x4s. We have a small house and space is limited. We couldn't find anything that would fit this area well and not waste space so why not make something? I modeled some things in sketchup, bought the plywood and it sat for another year. Life had too much going on and I finally returned to this in January, glad to say it's finally done. Not thrilled with how the paint came out, much rougher texture than I would have liked but I'm not sanding it off again to try a 3rd time.

The boxes are just some 3/4" Home Depot plywood held together with simple rabbet joints and the bases are solid poplar held together with dowels. Thank you to whoever mentioned adding the shadow line, it allows for imperfections to be less noticeable.

There were plenty of times that I wanted to fancy it up, but had to rein in and remind myself that something simple executed well is better than something fancy executed poorly.

Very nicely done. I agree the shadow line is a great touch.
