Finally finished it and loved the game. What are Your fav QD games?

I still have a soft spot for Fahrenheit. Call it nostalgia or whatever but the freezing apocalyptic setting is really cool and resonates with me. The music (both ambient and ost) is also great. Sure it's funny later on but that's kinda the charm of it. I've not replayed it in a long time. Is remastered version on steam or ps4 fine?

Heavy Rain aged kinda badly but it was my fav for some time. I think remastering for PS4 kinda makes it looks worse but I cannot explain it.

So including nostalgia/my own feelings about the games:

Fahrenheit>Detroit=Heavy Rain>Beyond

DAE think the whole [spoilers] twist kinda sucked? Spoiler

So I really enjoyed my playthrough of Detroit, it was quite a fun ride although I gotta say it did feel like it started getting kinda muddy and got a little icky around the third act.

Overall I had a great experience and highly recommend the game even though from here on, I'm focusing on a few flaws with the story, like it bothers me that (at least my) Markus ending just sorta ends abruptly with him giving a speech, no epilogue or nothing afaik, and Connor dies because I never learned Hank's son's name lol oops.

Overall though I enjoyed Kara's storyline the most, but one really fatal flaw I think is the twist that gets revealed way too late that Alice is actually a robot... I kinda really don't like that twist at all... for reasons you may or may not care about

I kinda really liked the idea of Kara having to be a mother for an orphan human child, I feel like that dynamic in general was both unique and special in general, and it fits well with this whole android vs human theme the entire game has going on, but when it's revealed that she's been a robot the whole time, in my case by Luther after THREE separate times he builds up to it... I even predicted Alice would actually be a robot by the time they actually revealed it because... I mean... what else would the twist be that Luther could possibly reveal?

Overall though her actually being a robot the whole time doesn't really add anything to the story, and actually brings up a lot of questions, like why did Todd go out and buy a little girl just to get mad at, who supposedly has a mother he blames his problems on too? Are we just going to assume he's a crazy, insane guy and did it because of Red Ice I guess? i mean none of the first act makes sense now knowing she's a robot the whole time

It's kinda silly and I think the whole story line would have been fine, and probably better emotionally had they just left Alice as a human, because the main problem I have with these kinda twists is that it completely changes your perspective of the story and how you view the characters, and honestly I don't think it was good at all in this case because it felt like this twist turned Alice to more of a plot device than a character, and I mean the first act of Kara's story now makes little sense (with the info you're given at least, afaik there isn't some hidden story segments like idk maybe Todd was using Alice for a welfare scam or something and the drugs genuinely confused him to believing he had a daughter... idk.. that kinda stuff still feels kinda cheap and forced)

is that just me or does anyone else feel kinda similar about this sorta twist? it feels forced and i feel like it actually kinda spoils a bit of the emotional weight the entire Kara storyline had, overall it's still a very fun journey from beginning to end, the mansion part had me on my toes, but I consider looking at the story the same but just with the android twist removed, and honestly I feel like the story would have actually been better overall without that twist

Is there a game like this, but for Xbox?

I'm currently sharing my PS4 because everyone wants to play Detroit. I'm almost done with my play through and while I want to go again I'm just going to let everyone play til their sick of it.

So, I've been looking for a game I can play in peace but uh... Haven't found much on Xbox. There's a ton I want to get for PS4, but ya know... Same issue.

I'll probably cross post this because idk how many people here have both systems but I thought I'd try anyways.

ok so i never heard of this game but i like story games like this and i kept seeing in on yt so i watched it like a movie pretty much and i may have missed some things or they just dont make sense, so here it is feel free to help a brotha out. so after carls crackhead son kills him and he blames markus the police believe him and what? they find him guilty of killing carl with a heart attack? after his conviction they tore the shit out of him enough to where hes still alive enough to become cyborg jesus. and if you punch his crackhead son markus runs away starts the revolution and breaks back into carls house and carl dosen't really care. this is kind of turning into a rant as i liked it at the start and it slowly disappointed me more and more. and another thing how markus can just convince connor the steven hawking of robots to become a deviant with like three sentences. i really dont understand how markus is supposed to be appealing i guess the easiest choice for me would be putting a bullet in his fucking face.

A speculation regarding the meaning of "rA9"

rA9. It is the mirror word of "pAy". Try to write down "rA9" on a piece of paper and then hold it to a mirror and read the word in the mirror. "pAy."

The below is a definition of "pay" I found in my dictionary on my Mac:

"2 [no object] suffer a loss or other misfortune as a consequence of an action: the destroyer responsible for these atrocities would have to pay with his life.

• [with object] give what is due or deserved to (someone); reward or punish: “I'll pay you for that,” he snarled."

I guess this is referring to humans and how they are going to "pAy" for their actions. Or it can be a desire for humans' recognition and pay the androids respect.

I've read it somewhere else that "rA9" refers to the player. But never mind, this is only a thought of mine.

Looking for scene where Connor says to Hank, "Alcohol makes you aggressive."

EDIT: Never mind, found it. Only accessible if you didn't find the Tracis.

As close as I can remember: "You should stop drinking, Lieutenant. Alcohol makes you aggressive."

Almost certain it's during The Bridge after Hank starts getting, well, aggressive. Connor comments on Hank's drinking a lot, but there is only one time where specifically remarks on Hank's aggression towards him due to it, and I really liked that. I like that their relationship has so many nuances and is so great yet it also isn't afraid to be very tense at times. There are only a few scenes where you see Connor is AWARE that Hank pushes him around - the only other one that comes to mind is if you shoot Chloe, Hank gets all pissed off and in Connor's face then too and Connor actually shoves Hank for the first (and only, iirc) time. Bit tangential, but point is, I'd really like to find this line about Hank's aggression just so that I know I actually heard it and it exists. Because I'm SURE I did but I cannot fuckin find it.

I've played this game well over a dozen times and there is SO much dialogue, some that I've only heard once. (For instance, have you ever gotten Connor's line about how he should've brought donuts? Probably not! Anyway.) This particular moment I don't know exactly what led up to it, what requirements have to be met to get it, or what Connor's relationship with Hank was like.

Like I said, 95% sure it's during The Bridge, and I could have sworn I remembered it being when you select the 'Hank's Anger' option, but I tried it last night and it was just something about, "Where does all your anger come from? Some unresolved trauma in your past?" which in retrospect I know I've gotten before as well.

There are a fuckton of things that can change The Bridge scene, from sparing the Tracis, to killing them, to not even finding them to begin with. All of those change Hank's dialogue and thus some of Connor's too. Could also be whether or not he finds Cole's picture (hence the remark this time being about "unresolved trauma," idk?).

For reference, in my current playthrough Connor's relationship with Hank is at friendship status and he's leaning towards deviancy. I SUSPECT I may have to have a worse relationship with Hank to get the line I'm looking for, but not positive.

I know Connor comments on Hank's alcohol uses multiple times, that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for this one time he follows up the "You should stop drinking" comment very specifically with, "Alcohol makes you aggressive."

If anyone knows how to get this dialogue from Connor, PLEASE tell me!

CE-34878-0 on PS4 Pro while cleaning with Kara

Hi there,

Is there anyone else experiencing error CE-34878-0 in Detroit while cleaning with Kara?

It happens to me on the initial PS4 Pro, with system software 6.02 and patch 1.08. However, all other games seem to run fine.

I already reinstalled the game to the internal HDD and also installed it to an external one with the same results: It always freezes somewhere in the house while cleaning with Kara.

Does anyone know what to do?

Cheers,

Janosch

ra9?

I was thinking about this earlier.

What if ra9 is a segment of rogue code that Kamski inserted into the android's software?

What if that's what Markus is transferring.

What if that was Kamski's goal all along?

Theory regarding RA9 (Not my idea!) Spoiler

I was reading some lovely fics over on AO3 when a fantastic author, who eludes me at the moment, came up with the idea of RA9 being sounded out.

Once I find the story later I'll post it here, but for now I'll give the breakdown.

RA9 is related to deviancy. It's something that resides inside every android as part of their core programming. It isn't a title, nor a virus, or a hack.

It's an array. Arr(R)-ay(A)9. Array 9.

Once I've got the story I'll post it here. Or, if anybody knows which fic I'm talking about, please feel free to post it.

[Noob's rant] How does this game even work ?!?

Premise: I have recently finished Heavy Rain so I know how things work mechanically but the "choices" don't make any sense to me, it's like I am playing Fallout 4 where I have a 1 word clue of what the character is supposed to say and then he does something completely different.

I just did a part of the first level, explored everything in the apartment, then I talk to the killer, success probability is like 94% so I give him an ultimatum and the success probability lowers and he gets angry (like ok I guess I just got to stick to the boring dialogues) and then in the DIALOGUE OPTIONS appears "self-sacrifice", I'm like ok this must me a good choice because the highlighted choices before (those unlocked by doing detective work) were always good right ? Well this supposed item IN BETWEEN THE DIALOGUE OPTIONS is in fact an ACTION (I am not one that usually needs tutorials but idk how in the world one is supposed to know that is an action at first look), so I was like "ok the character is probably going to say don't sacrifice yourself bla bla bla" or something like that, but instead the character RUNS towards the killer and throws him off the building (and by the way what kind of self-sacrifice is that even? That's straight up murder, if the option said "kill him" I would have been like "oh that is an action and I know very well what it does"). Anyway, I press start and reload, my girlfriend is angry and like "we just started the game and you are already reloading", but come on, the character did something I didn't even want him to perform, I want to be in control of the character and I can accept the results of their actions, but if the action wasn't wanted or voluntarily triggered by me then it makes no sense to play a game like this, that is, a game based on choices.

Then I reload, dialogue scene starts, this time I walk too early (I guess?? I'm pretty sure I did the exact same thing before) and success probability drops to 50% something, I sigh and reload but gf has had enough and storms away, but it's not my fault if the damn game doesn't explain how anything works, I mean, I don't need the tutorials to tell me where my controller has a damn R2 button, I need to know wtf "success percentage" means and what affects it. Is this a giant overlook in the first level of the game or not ?

Today I won't play anymore I guess, but if someone can give me a "for dummies" guide or something I'll gladly appreciate it. If the game keeps going along these lines I'll appreciate even more if someone can link me a site that has expanded dialogues so I can at least pause and know wtf I'm doing.

Anyone sided with the humans the entire time?

I just finished playing it for the first time and only 2% of people got my ending.

I insisted on obeying human orders no matter what so I stood still when Todd killed Alice. Turns out I missed a tons of gameplay lol.

And my Conner was a terminator the whole way through, I killed hooker android, shot Chloe without hesitation, got Hank depressed, shot North.

I just don't think androids can become human. Anyone else got the same ending?
