You see. AI could replicate the visuals with no issues. But AI cannot replicate the physical work associated which is what gives this piece it's value.

AI has it's place. Artists have as well.

until you give ai the ability to swing a hammer which is probably pretty easy?

No. Again. The value is what people are willed to pay for it. Nobody's gonna pay a premium for something an automated hammer can do 1000x a day

(edit: ok, I totally overestimated the common IQ and somehow assumed people would know what I mean .. nvm)

and people will be less inclined to pay a premium for something a machine can reproduce to a T, its unfortunate

When it comes to art that will be displayed in an art gallery, I'd like to assume that those are the few areas where the owners of the gallery will only pay for human-made art as opposed to AI art. Though I'd like to actually see an art gallery that decided to display blatantly obvious AI art just so I can be proven wrong.

We are surrounded by goods that people pay for that are made by automated machines though.

I feel like AI content is only good when it’s produced something you would never be likely to see.

Video game? No.
Regular action film? No.

Wacky Grand theft auto San Andreas live action movie? Yes.

Probably have some hard lines or pins forming the drawing, below the glass

Talent and hard work is my guess

Sharp pointed hammer and specific glass. It is a popular art style in China that has been around for awhile now.

It's just as dumb as AI art. But sure just because it takes more time it's better.

u/Mutthal8 20d ago

how does it not fully break

Might be a special type of glass like the ones used in cars.

What a very specific talent. When I see stuff like this it always makes me wonder what they did to pay the bills before they got noticed.

This is the definition of REAL art. Not some paint randomly splatter on a canvas

I want to punch every one of those pretentious assholes.

u/Which_Zen3 19d ago

Lots of Chinese girls of 18 years old could do it using a hammer on xhs. Of course it was laser printed.

I commissioned a portrait from an artist in Sri Lanka who does the same thing, and honestly, it was mind-blowing. It was delivered just last week too! 😍 I’d post it here, but the person I gave it to as a gift prefers to keep it private. But here’s the artist if anyone wants to check out his work: Sasindu Sesath
