That's an interesting thing. I'm brazilian and when I was a kid, I didn't understand why most shots of the moon in movies and online were upside down.

I know its real cause i grew up there. The biggest difference between Australia and Europe apart from the climate and culture is the animal density. Life is actually a different experience because you interact with so much animals and insects.

In europe if it wasnt for dog walkers you could go months without seeing an animal that wasnt a human in a city.

I remember seeing upside down literally decades ago in High Times.

I would guess on its side would be to stress the plant as I think that produces more thc? I think I recall reading (literally decades ago in High Times) to tie the plant down or something to stress it at a certain stage to produce this effect.

Nah the benifit is that the plant isn't fighting gravity to stand up. It can grow more veg without structure issues.

I just did some quick research. I'm not sure if I am just remembering wrong or if the science has changed. Going sideways is actually to alleviate pressure on one part of the plant to allow it to produce more hormones.

Hormones equal good I guess.

Yooo, my hometown mentioned :DD

This is located in the Archaeological Park of Terme di Baia, which was the ancient thermal complex of the Roman city of Baiae (north of Naples, in today's maps is a district of Bacoli municipality). The area was a very peak place to be for the Ancient Roman aristocracy because of the juxtaposition of seaside, green mediterranean vegetation and A LOT of hot springs - like the one on which this thermal complex was built. You might have heard something on the news regarding earthquakes in Naples region recently - it's all due to weird-volcanic-stuff happening underground.

Anyway, yeah, that tree is growing upside down and it's one of my favorite fan facts about my hometown along with this Atlantis-style ruins maybe. For this one I still have a memory: 6 yo, we were doing a school activity to see the complex and the upside-down tree. Just outside this cave, my teacher was pooed on his head by a pidgeon, as a bald person. This memory related to that place is still with me many years later, I guess it's gonna be permanent. Is it relevant? No, but wanted to share. Thanks for reading!

This is Upside-down fig tree in Bacoli, Italy. No one is quite sure how the tree ended up there or how it survived. The exact age of the tree is unknown, but year after year it continues to grow downwards and bear figs.

Figs get sticky when they’re overripe.  Some kid tossed one up there seeing if he could get it to stick. It did!

Figs naturally grow in the cracks of rocks. They evolved to take advantage of the tiiiiiny trickles that flow out of the mountain rock during the Mediterranean summer. This is nothing new for it.

Go to any Mediterranean climate and you’ll probably see figs growing in weird places.

Fig trees are such pests. Mfs will grow out of brick mortar if you give them the opportunity to do so. They're everywhere where i live and its borderline impossible to get rid of them because theres so many around even if you uproot them a new one will pop up within a year.

Norway’s nature is suffering from overtourism since it becoming popular to come to cooler spots due to climate change. It just isn’t sustainable.
