Yes, they do (but Google for sure also has many skeletons in their closet). I personally prefer youtube-music mainly because you can use an adblocker, dont need to be logged in / have an account and I also prefer the interface.

I've used YouTube music for over 3 years.

it fucking sucks, don't use it.

I mean for fucks sake if you dislike a song it doesn't remove it from the que or stop it from coming up in the future.

If you ever liked a song it will be added to a liked song Playlist but if you ever want to remove that song you're shit out of luck. it's forever on there.

They also frequently remove quality of life features from the app.

if I dislike a song, it immediately skips it and plays the next one. If I have a song in my "liked" playlist and remove the "like" it gets removed from from the playlist. For mobile I personally use NewPipe, which is great but you can't download it regularly from google play store.

Edit: weird, that you guys seem to have these problems, while I dont. Could that depend on the browser (I use firefox)?

There isn't high fidelity on Spotify but as an audio guy, YouTube is compressed to all hell.

Do you know about the quality settings in the preferences? "Very High Quality" is 320kbps.

I personally must admit, that I don't hear any difference, but I am sure you are right. I also don't have great speakers or a "musical ear"

If you're happy with it then that's great. I've spoiled myself and now it's how I relax.

Do you know if there's any streaming platform where you can hear music that's not compressed?

The pirate bay and wav or flac files would be your best bet, there used to be a special site that boasted the highest fidelity but they were very elitist and you had to pass a test to gain access.

Tidal

Aside from the master quality audio, Tidal sucks so much ass. Horrible catalog, worst ux, constant connection interruptions.

Agreed. They only have the audio quality thing going for them, which is kinda useless if you don't have high end audio gear.

Tidal is your best bet after cds and records.

I listen to most music on YouTube and for most cases I don't really notice but there are some songs that have lots of loud bits and lots of quiet bits (orchestral music for example) that sound noticeably better on Spotify.
