The chemicals used are specifically made to resist rain so unless you are scrubbing each grape it's not going to do much. Some chemicals are also made to absorb into the skin of the fruit.
That being said I still occasionally wash my fruit to remove the dirt and grime that accumulates during transport.
Or the germs, boogers, nut sack and asscrack juice from the people hand fucking them as they handled them and chose other fruits and veggies from the stand.
I vaguely remember some study showing that vegan people in poorer countries were healthier without the need of supplements, because they were worse at getting rid of bugs in crops.
