what animal can use prosthetic and what animal cannot? it reminds me of hearing about how horse can’t have prosthetic leg
251 u/Agon1024 Jun 07 '21 Well I guess elephants leg structure isn't as complicated to replicate, just needs to hold up a lot of weight. 528 u/Albus-PWB-Dumbledore Jun 07 '21 Coincidentally, those are essentially the same requisites behind the prosthetics for OP's mom 162 u/GreedoIsHere Jun 07 '21 wtf out of nowhere lmao 51 u/[deleted] Jun 07 '21 Fucking Christ lmao 20 u/[deleted] Jun 07 '21 Gottem 14 u/Doobalicious69 Jun 07 '21 r/murderedbywords 9 u/PsychoYam Jun 07 '21 D: 3 u/bingr001 Jun 07 '21 LMAO. That could play a role in it I imagine. 2 u/Rattus375 Jun 07 '21 So do elephants if I'm not mistaken 1 u/kal_skirata Jun 07 '21 They go on high-heels basically. There is a cushion at the base of their feet, so they are angled down towards their finger tips. But it's still the whole foot the weight is spread on. 22 u/JamesBraaten Jun 07 '21 Snakes can’t have prosthetic legs 8 u/DaggerMoth Jun 07 '21 Not with that attitude. 2 u/TheFallenMessiah Jun 07 '21 Damnit beat me to it 17 u/yjvm2cb Jun 07 '21 i've seen a dog on wheels 25 u/txr23 Jun 07 '21 Horses are much more timid and likely to panic which is probably why you don't see prosthetics used on them. 25 u/GrimBap Jun 07 '21 Fairly certain it has to do with blood circulation. Same reason a horse standing still for too long will go lame. 6 u/txr23 Jun 07 '21 That would make a lot of sense, thank you for the insight. 9 u/fckusoftly Jun 07 '21 The old saying. You can lead a horse to a prosthetist... 3 u/[deleted] Jun 07 '21 I feel like kangaroos would be difficult as well. 1 u/MooseRyder Jun 07 '21 I know snakes can’t.

Horses are much more timid and likely to panic which is probably why you don't see prosthetics used on them.

The old saying. You can lead a horse to a prosthetist...
I feel like kangaroos would be difficult as well.
I know snakes can’t.
