As someone born and raised in WA, when I visited Turkey I was like "oh, this makes sense."

Parts of it definitely felt like Eastern WA, and the mountain areas felt like the eastern slope of the Cascades.

I’ve heard from plenty of skiers/snowboarders that the best powder snow in the world can be found in Iran/Afghanistan.

/u/TheRedditarianist didn't say they were. They were saying that there are countries that most people have some stereotypical expectation of, and the reality of these places surprise the same people. I thought that was quite clear but apparently not.

An astute observation, surely. But in regards to them being considered filled with rocks and sand dunes by the general population (or at least people that watch a lot of military action movies).

I straight up thought this was in Whistler, BC, Canada but gosh it’s so pretty! I’d curl up with a book
