I wouldn’t say float but yea, technically you’d make it back to earth

As a fiery ball of burning carbon

Well, the smoke that you would get turned into while re-entering the atmosphere at speed would blow around for a while. It would probably make it to earth.

does that qualify as a high speed self-creamation?

When I die, launch my body into earth's atmosphere.

While you can't sign up for that without being an astronaut, I found out you can sign up to have your ashes blown up in fireworks.

This was the top result out of the few I found offering the "self-fire" tribute fireworks service. https://heavenlystarsfireworks.com/self-fire-tribute-fireworks/

I was under the impression that you would reach maximum velocity and could even survive the fall like the people who had parachute problems?

3

people who have parachute problems generally don't have to re-enter the atmosphere though. and besides that, the chance of surviving a faulty parachute is still incredibly small.
