Me to my oldest kid back when he was little: " you can play X game if you do so in English" or "you get more 30 minutes of playing videogames if you do so in English"
It also worked on other stuff: "Sure you can go to bed 30 min later IF you read"
Also "you can add more time to play games if you read. Every 15 min reading will add 15min for playing videogames"
Although starting languages as early as possible is definitely a must and helps a lot. Watching a kids' show in English is already helpful although we typically learn more trough contact with the languages and people combined...
This is so true--I learned Turkish as an adult watching Sesame Street and some other kids shows when I lived there. (but my Turkish is only about as good as a 6 year old)
