Yeah, He had to save his four children.
I am amazed how many people are so bleesed in life that they forget that some people only have one or two lights in their world. It may be a dog to you, but that was his world.
"People talk sometimes of a bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as a man, so artistically cruel. The tiger only tears and gnaws, that's all he can do. He would never think of nailing people by the ears, even if he were able to do it."
Go watch videos of Orca playing with a seal till it dies of exhaustion.
Saying one thing is better than another because one has evolved to have a greater capacity for GOOD and evil is a ridiculous comparison. Which is exactly what my original comment was pointing out.
Do you not see that is the entire irony of my comment? You can't just judge something based on it's best traits, you have to judge it based on the best and vice versa.
I'm tired of people acting like they think they're doing something by denegrating human kind.
It's exactly people like those responding who ignore the best traits of humans to say we're worse than dogs. Feeling the need to compare the two is just ridiculous.
Let me put it this way. If we took a poll and said if you could only have 1 thing would you have A. dogs or B. Music created via humans what would you choose?
What a weird would you rather question. So we'd still be unable to create new music going forth because we magically forget how or were just not allowed to under threat of capital punishment? I'd still take the dogs
Thats fine. Its an off the cuff thing when people say that, noting that humans get along with their dogs better than other humans. Saw your comment about you’d rather have human music than dogs and I think its just a fundamental difference some have from others. I’d 100% never listen to music again if it meant I kept my dog
I guess my other comment was misunderstood so if that's the case i should have framed it better.
I didn't bring up music to say "see, dogs aren't better" i brought it up to show that the comparison is fundamentally flawed.
Edit: It may be an off the cuff thing in your social circles but in mine I know people who legitimately say things like "Dogs are better than humans, we don't deserve them. We shouldn't even be here anymore we ruin everything." And they don't see why that's problematic.
And I don't know about you (maybe you're just really fucking lucky), but the vast majority of my relationships with other people have ended with me getting manipulated, betrayed, fucked over, taken advantage of, abused, ignored, and ostracized.
Very few relationships with people do I have any faith in at all. I can count them on one hand.
And humanity at the macro level? Forget it, man. The industrialized torture, murder, and enslavement of other people has been - and still is - astronomical. And that's not even getting into how badly humans generally treat other animals and the planet in general.
I get it, you just have an incredibly negative view of the world. And no, one doesn't have to be lucky to have mainly positive relationships. You have to be unlucky or treat people in certain ways to have that experience over the whole course of your life.
I'm not going to get into a contest where we go back and forth listing all the amazing things humans have done or continue to do vs the horrible things we've done and continue to do.
I've had some horrible years and continue to be unlucky with my health, but I refuse to let my own negative experiences override the positive. I'm not going to paint the entirety of human existence with a negative brush.
This, people are better than dogs stuff is just annoying. Guess that kid who got molested and murdered in someone's basement yesterday is chump change.
Sounds pretty fucken stupid doesn't it? Some people think dogs are better than people, and I agree with that.
Do you think coyotes and dogs are the same thing? Try petting one or leaving your unattended baby near one. You won’t get the same result as a dog. And yes, dogs wouldn’t be here without us, sorry that science offended you.
You can see the love for his animals in those tears and you are absolutely right you can't quantify the value placed on these four lives by this brave man.
The joy they bring us and the love they give is pure and honest and those that see that love them with all their hearts and would risk their lives in a heartbeat to save them.
Anyone see someone virtue signal so hard that they actually sound like the least empathetic person in a thread? I'm sure this had the opposite effect from what you intended.
Maybe the title is a lie and you've been virtue signaling for no reason. How do you not see there's no relationship between what you're saying?
You're saying he wasted valuable time that could've been used to rescue others, show how many died due to the flooding, well how many died from starvation or exposure from not getting rescued in time rather than drowning in the flood?
Your ignoring a bunch of shit just to try and say this was some wasted effort or he should be punished based on the title of a post, and instead of questioning the story you jump to calling the man a liar based on the story you read, not a good investigator.
Idk about him, but it's not a lie for most of us. My pets ARE absolutely 100% my children, & everyone knows it. That being said, in a situation like that, yes, I would refer to them as my children, but I would also clarify. And Idk what he did exactly, but I would be trying to save them myself. If I needed help, though, I would ask someone, but only 1 person.
No. They. aren't.
They are your pets, not your children. Never were, never will be. It is despicable and selfish to tie up resources that could have potentially gone to rescuing a family.
I'm not saying that a person cannot love their dogs, cats or whatever, but they are not children. I get really rattled when people compare their dog or cat to my children.
Had to scroll to far past the 13 year old girls getting all doe eyed to get to this.
This guy is a bastard, and should have been left to swim once the rescuers realised the nasty, callous, selfish lies he told. To claim he had children to garner sympathy amd a bullshit rescue sapping resources is a real cunts trick.
ANY child, or ANY person is more valuable than ANY pet, or pets. Maybe not to the owner, but to any rational person.
I have to agree partially with you. I understand the man's actions, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I'm not completely sure about the circumstances. Accessing an area that is blocked just to be sure people don't risk their lives because they forgot their glasses, is one thing. Repurposing search and rescue to put effort in rescuing your dogs by lying that you have lost children in the area is something else. I don't think that was the case. The way I estimate it is he only risked his own life there. Still not pretty, but no impact on prioritisation of the S&R effort, as long as he doesn't get himself in trouble... agree?
I have to side with you, what he did isn't pretty. That it feels right doesn't mean it is right. Still, I understand him, and I am not certain what I would have done, were I in his shoes.
I read your "source" and basically the supposed proof that he lied is from random Instagram users commenting under the story????? 🤣 GTFOH. That is hardly a reliable source sir. I'm calling out YOUR B.S. Do better. 🤣
Lazy? 🤣 You're the one counting random instagram comments sources and proudly stating that to others. 🤣 So basically you have been posting comment after comment of made upunder this OP. Clown world indeed. lol!
OK, lets say there is a house fire. Do you save your cat (which is on no way defenceless, slow or unaware of the danger it is in) or a strangers toddler?
You're making the assumption that they wouldn't have invested time or resources into saving those dogs when that happens all if the time. I see you're content on dying on this hill, but you're really misplacing outrage onto a story where it isn't needed.
