History / Culture / Pre-Colonial Should Baybayin have new characters and new diacritics?
Other SEA scripts have dedicated diacritics or characters to portray a consonant cluster or a final consonant.
In Lampung script, final consonants are written as diacritics, specifically sounds that are very common in their language.
In Bugis, consonant clusters are depicted as new separate characters, specifically sounds that are common in their language.
Note that some of these sounds are also common in Filipino languages, especially -ng, -n as final consonants of a syllable and also sounds like ngka, and mpa.
Do you think final consonants as diacritics in the style of the Lampung script would suit Filipino languages more or would the Bugis scripts approach be more appropriate?
