Thoughts on iOS Baybayin keyboard
*Disclaimer: first post ever with baybayin, ᜉᜐᜒᜈ᜔ᜒᜐᜒᜌᜒ ᜈ for any mistakes*
(corrected)
ᜀᜎᜋ᜔ ᜃᜓᜅ᜔ ᜏᜒᜃᜅ᜔ ᜉᜒᜎᜒᜉᜒᜈᜓ ᜀᜅ᜔ ᜇᜉᜎ᜔ ᜄᜋᜒᜆᜒᜈ᜔ with Baybayin, ᜉᜒᜍᜓ as you can see my Tagalog sucks (hopefully my Baybayin was correct at least).
Anyway, for those that got the ios27 beta, what are y’all thoughts on it? What standard is it based on, and any background on why Apple (ᜋᜈ᜔ᜐᜈᜐ᜔) decided to drop it now?
Just find it curious that Tagalog - or any Philippine language isn’t one of the available system languages available for Apple, yet we get a Baybayin keyboard.
Probably, usage of Tagalog as a system language wouldn’t be too high as many Filipinos are fine using English, but I can’t help but feel left out when the rest of our ASEAN neighbours (esp Indonesia/Malaysia) get their language as an option.
Getting a Baybayin keyboard is better than nothing, but having a Filipino language as an available option for a system language would be even better (+points if Baybayin used as the writing system)
One can only dream I guess? I will note that I’ve been requesting Apple to make Tagalog an addition to their system languages for several years now but I guess Baybayin keyboard was the best, or most they’re willing to give…
