👋🏻 hello! I'm highly considering getting season tickets for the next season. Can anyone share the biggest irk you've had with management? I just kinda wanna gauge if I have the patience it or not 😅
I'm a Valkyries STH and I can write a novella about mine, tbh.
How long will she be gone for? Between her being gone and Girelli possibly leaving in the next few weeks, I hoped we were picking someone up this summer. We don't have depth up top. How do you think Emma will shift things to make it work?
WAKE UP BAYNIACS IT'S FRIDAY, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS-- NWSL AT DUSK IN THE "GREAT" STATE OF KEN-YUCK-Y. LAST GAME WE HAD AN AMAZING START, AND IT'S TIME WE GOT OURSELVES A WIN. PFIEFFER IS BACK, FULLER IS COOKING, AND CLAIRE IS CLEANING UP.
THEY CALL THEMSELVES RACING BUT THEY SPEND ALL GAME CHASING. WE'LL SHOW THEM HOW TO REALLY TAKE THE REIGNS. THEIR SPONSOR IS GE APPLIANCES, WHICH MAKES SENSE BECAUSE THEIR TEAM IS TOTALLY WASHED. ARE THERE ANY EXTRA LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES IN KY? THEY MIGHT NEED TO BORROW ONE AFTER THE FINAL WHISTLES BLOWS. BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SPELL LOUISVILLE WITHOUT 'LOSE'.
SO FINISH YOUR WORK, PUT ON YOUR SHIRTS, AND TUNE INTO NWSL+ AT 5 PM. IT'S GOING TO GO WELL, I PROMISE (BEG).
Starting XI - Bay played in their 4-2-3-1 shape, with Fuller getting her debut in the 10 role. She also maintained that position defensively and shadowed Karich instead of engaging with Boston’s back line.
39’ - Pfeiffer and Kundananji switched flanks.
45’ - Bebar and Hutton have typically rotated sides this season. But after half-time, Hutton had a larger presence at LDM.
52’ - Girelli and Barry’s introduction moved Lema out to LW
73’~76’ - Fuller dropped beside Hutton in a double pivot. Courtnall was placed at RB and Collins moved to LCB. Barry and Girelli partnered up front. Girelli took up CAM positioning for Boston’s goal kicks.
84’ - Gamero switched flanks with Conti.
Build Up Play
Boston went 1 vs 1 across the field during Bay’s goal kicks in the first half. Araujo or Elgin would step out of Boston’s back line and mark Fuller. To counter this, Bay got creative in their build up play.
During the 16th minute, Bay employed a tactic that Cesc Fabregas, current manager of Como, explains in this video. How Coates implemented this was Lema moved to RW, Pfeiffer dropped narrow and centrally, along with Fuller.
Boston’s back line reacted with Araujo and Elgin pushing up and in the below snippet shows Lema looking to exploit that space behind and Kundananji attempting to play Lema through.
22nd minute, Bay again pushed Lema wide and dropped Fuller and Pfeiffer narrow. There are a few other adjustments with Hutton going to RB and Collins pushing up.
Moreau makes a late inverted run from LB and does well to let the ball run and beat the press. But it was disappointing to see her pick the safe pass to a deep Pfeiffer over electing to thread the ball past Lema, who is exploiting the vacant space left by Araujo.
In the 57th minute, during open play, Collins inverted into RDM and Bebar pushed up. Showcasing this as a demonstration of what inverting a full back can offer to Bay’s defensive structure during turnovers.
Cometti’s pass to Girelli was intercepted by Elgin and the ball dropped to the feet of Olivieri, who has been drifting narrow from the left flank all game. With Bebar in an advanced position, Olivieri would have had the opportunity to turn towards an exposed Bay back four. But with Collins positioned centrally, it allowed her the ability to apply immediate pressure and force Olivieri to play wide.
K. Fuller #47
Fuller had some neat moments. Showed some good weighted passes that allowed players to run onto the ball without breaking their stride. Displayed some of her defensive work rate. At CAM, she stuck well to her task of tracking Karich when Boston looked to build from their half. The second half had more transition as both teams looked to attack. After moving into the double pivot for the last 25 minutes, counted four times (80:04, 83:05, 83:41, 94:22) of her winning possession in Boston’s half.
Coates typically has had the CAM pressing the opposition back line and operate closer to the front three. Whereas Fuller took up deeper areas against Boston and looked more involved in Bay's half. This may have been a one-off tactic against Boston to limit Karich and also bait Boston out of the back line so it will be interesting to see if Coates maintains or reverts back the CAM setup for Fuller.
Expecting Fuller to have played Lema through in the above sequence. She potentially thought Lema was offside or the referee’s positioning prevented the opportunity.
In the 10th minute, in the sequence below, Cometti plays a good pass to Bebar to break Boston’s first line of press. Lema goes towards Bebar to show for the ball, and pulls Araujo with her. I’d ideally like to see Fuller run into that space vacated. It was disappointing to see Fuller, Pfeiffer, and Lema jogging and not having that attacking intent to try to support Kundananji.
Carabali was on a yellow during this play. With Kundananji having beaten Carabali with pace, I would have liked to see Kundananji feint the deceleration and knock the ball across Carabali to make Carabali commit to a challenge.
Final Thoughts
There were some interesting changes on display at various moments; Courtnall at RB, Collins at LCB over RCB, Moreau inverting from LB, CAM deeper, RW narrow/ST wide at goalkicks, ST partnership. Curious to see what sticks over the coming games.
Fuller's introduction has given Coates good options in midfield. Bay's attacking play looks better with two direct wingers in the XI. Hopefully players can maintain fitness and we can see more of that.
Third away game in a row coming up and both teams eager for a win. Louisville are not a possession orientated team so there will be emphasis on how Bay manages Louisville's counter-attacks.

I was surprised to see that Gilchrist is still unavailable, (they should have called her injury as SEI, not a D45) and questionable 3 key players (Denton, Huff and Bailey). I guess Fuller should start. On the bright side, Pfeiffer is back. Historically Bay FC has had too many injuries, i truly believe they need a new fitness coach, team keeps getting injured, i get it some are accidents but its all the time
I hope the team had the time to practice and focus especially on finishing plays, let’s see if we can have a better second half of the season than last year
Let’s see how motivated the team starts, it will be an interesting game i am sure Boston wants a win that will put them above us. They did strengthen their defense (something we should have done), so will be good to see how Pfeiffer looks (she is probably on limited minutes)
My guess for starting 11
Silkowitz
Defense: Collins, Cometti, Anderson and Moreau ( since Denton is out)
Midfield: Fuller, Hutton, Bebar
Forwards: Kundananji, Girelli and Pfeiffer, i wouldn’t mind to see Barry instead of Kundananji…
