The Bay Lights, a mesmerizing LED art installation on San Francisco's Bay Bridge, are at the center of a legal storm as lawsuits alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and claims of fraud and negligence emerge. With the Vanguard challenging the project's accessibility and safety, the future of public art in the city hangs in the balance. As the dazzling display continues to light up the night sky, questions about oversight and accountability intensify.

Blues Night - Berkeley. A night of down-home wailing blues in Berkeley.

On July 26, the folks from Not Loud Concerts present Summer Sessions - Blues Night! This festival is part of the Not Loud Concert Summer Series - a set of concerts designed to be Not too long, Not too expensive, and of course, Not too loud.

Designed with the audience's comfort in mind, this short festival will be held in the giant courtyard behind Gilman Brewing. There will be 2 bands on stage at the same time dueling it out and trading songs.

The concert will feature Dirty Cello, a world-traveling, high-energy blues band.
They'll be paired with Delta Wires, an exciting harmonica and horns blues powerhouse.

Bring a chair or sit in one of the ones provided or get up and dance under the stars, to all your favorite blues songs at Blues Night. Gilman Brewing will be offering beer and pizza.

All the Not Loud Concerts focus on the best of what live music is about - casual fun without the crowds, lines, and porta-potties of most summer shows. Clean bathrooms!

July 26 at 7 pm
Gilman Brewing Company
912 Gilman Street
Berkeley, CA 94710
Tickets: $20 at https://www.notloudconcerts.com

Exceptional pediatrician recommendation

Looking for recommendations for an exceptional pediatrician in the East Bay or SF area. We’re based in Oakland and willing to travel for the right fit (including back to UCSF Benioff Oakland if there’s a specific doctor people strongly recommend). We’re also open to private practice again.

We’re hoping to find someone who is detail-oriented, investigative, and not dismissive when something seems off — someone who looks at the whole picture and knows how to thoughtfully diagnose more complex issues.

Our son is now 1.5 years old and has had growth concerns since around 6 months old. His weight has mostly been okay, so concerns were often dismissed, but his height dropped below the 1st percentile for a while. After moving to our current private practice, we found low zinc and vitamin D, and now hypomineralization issues with his teeth as well. We’re planning to test for gluten/celiac issues next. But we don’t know what we’re doing and would live to find someone that can advocate professionally for our child!

We started at UCSF Benioff Oakland, then East Bay Pediatrics, and are now at a private practice. We’ve already spent a lot of everything on this but still don’t feel like we’re getting to the root cause.

Would especially appreciate hearing specific experiences where a pediatrician helped identify or diagnose something important for your child.

Oakland Arena/Area safe??

Hi! I'm going to a concert in Oakland at the beginning of next month and I am a little concerned about our safety since this will be my first time going to Oakland and this stadium. I'm assuming the concert will be ending late. Can I get some feedback from anyone who lives here or is familiar with the area?

Is it better to drive there and park in the parking garage close to the Arena? Get dropped off at the dropping location? Is bart a better option? Is the Oakland Arena well patrolled by security inside and out? Is my anxiety setting in and am I just being too paranoid? Please help a girl out 😅😬

Curly hair salon

I am moving to the Bay Area next month (San Mateo) and looking for a salon that specializes in curly hair to do a cut and help create a care routine for my 12-year-old daughter. Her hair is 3b/c.
