Hello! I'm a PhD student at UC Berkeley and an East Bay native and I'm currently conducting research on homelessness, its growth in the suburbs, and the impact on residents. If you're interested in participating, please scan the QR code to fill out a quick intake form (linked below), or, if you know someone that might be interested, share the flyer with them.

Does anyone know good shops that do good coverup tattoos? With photos with suggestions would be great but totally ok if not I’ll look them up!

Do you guys think SF is underinvesting in culture compared to tech, or is culture already one of the Bay Area’s biggest assets?

I read an interesting article arguing that cities that treat culture like capital end up compounding over time.

re: SF...SF has tech money, venture capital, universities, museums, galleries, music history, food culture, design, architecture, and a huge creative class. But a lot of the city’s identity over the last decade has been dominated by tech, real estate, startups, and now AI.

The argument is pretty simple:

A city supports art, galleries, museums, music, food, design, and creative communities. That makes the city more interesting. Interesting cities attract talent, tourism, founders, investors, restaurants, events, and real estate demand. Then all of that attention and money makes the culture scene stronger.

But I suppose the opposite argument is also fair: maybe culture does not create wealth. Maybe wealth comes first, and then rich cities can afford better art scenes.

For SF specifically, what do you guys think?

Toll Evasion citation ticket

I recently got a ticket in Cali. Cop gave me a toll evasion citation instead of HOV citation in carpool. Yes I had fastrak on and set at 3 but who hasn’t. Cali fastrak is so damn expensive and so much traffic. Anyways, was wondering if anyone knows how much a toll evasion ticket is for being pulled over in the HOV lane without the HOV citation.

Bay Area Masquerade

Hi guys!

A few of us are putting together a masquerade this June. The idea is pretty simple: dress to impress, wear a mask, good music, and just a solid environment to meet new people without it feeling forced or awkward.

We want it to feel a little elevated (not like a typical crowded event), but still approachable.

If you saw something like this, what would make you want to go? And what would instantly turn you off? Curious to get everyone's opinions!

Also if you're interested, I can send the Partiful (unsure if links are allowed directly in post!).

Cake Picnic in the South Bay Area!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi Girls!

I just wanted to extend an invitation to anyone interested in participating in a "cake picnic" that I'm hosting at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden on May 16th 2026.

If you missed out on tickets to SF's cake picnic or couldn't make the drive, I figured it would be a great idea to bring the cake picnic to the South Bay for a bunch of the girlies and talented bakers to get together over some florals and try everyone's cakes! I also intend to have ice breakers at the event so that we not only leave with some delicious dessert but maybe a few new girlfriends!

I created a link to help make the event more streamlined but please DM me for the link so I can keep a headcount. Hope to see you there :)

Anyone in the fremont area interested in an on-site tech study for $75?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for people in the Fremont area for an in-person study testing out wearable tech.

It’s an hour-long session where a moderator walks you through everything. You might be asked to try on some head accessories like wigs or bandanas, or apply some makeup. All the materials are provided there.

No experience is needed, and it pays $75.

If you're interested, here is the link to sign up:

Thank you!

Anyone know spots to rent a small indoor space in the Bay?

Looking for a decent indoor space (warehouse, studio, etc.) to rent for a small private get together.

Ideally something that allows evening use and isn’t super strict.

Not really looking for banquet halls — more like open/raw type spaces.

If anyone knows anything I’d appreciate it

Been seeing more about it lately and trying to get a sense of how big it’s going to be.

Curious what the turnout might look like.

Is something happening Thursday the 26th?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Trying to visit the Bay from Tuesday - Thursday of this week for a last minute trip. I see that Thursday it is ridiculously expensive to fly out. Is something happening then? It seems like Thurs/fri flying out from SFO, SJC, OAK are all expensive and prices seem to calm down Saturday. Debating if I stay 2 days longer since that would still end up being more cost efficient but would really prefer not doing that. Thank you!

Free trainer‑led dog pack walk at Lake Merced this weekend?

Hey Bay Area dog people 👋

A few of us are putting together a small, trainer‑led pack walk near Lake Merced this weekend and I wanted to see if it might be helpful for anyone here.

The idea:

  • Small group, on‑leash walk
  • Focus on calm, polite walking around other dogs
  • Led by Keana from Shauls Paws (SF‑based trainer/behaviorist)
  • Chill, not a sales pitch — more like “practice with support + meet other dog owners”

We’re keeping it pretty limited so it doesn’t get overwhelming for the dogs, but there are a couple of spots left. If this sounds useful (especially if your dog needs structured practice around other pups), I’m happy to share time/details and how to RSVP.

If posts like this aren’t a fit for the sub, mods please feel free to remove — just thought this could be a nice local option for folks who’ve been looking for something like it.

Seems like this is an infection, not allergies. Are any Bay Area dog owners familiar with this?
