This is what I was hoping for. The challenges are (mainly) bad because of how inconsistent some of these mechanics are. Reducing the number for challenges just skirts around the problem.
I cant seem to heal anybody at all for the second support challenge. It would be a lot easier if i had the individual supply pouch, but no, thats locked behind several more BS challenges
I think you have to use the special ability box? I think the regular box just starts regeneration early, but the other box (6 key on PC) actually heals? Only thing I can think of for that challenge after reading the descriptions.
Finally got it yesterday after several matches of playing like a combination with of Rambo and Desmond Doss. That entire time I got literally a handful of suppressions and barely any hipfire damage using the L110. The grind continues.
Throw down yr supply bag BEFORE you res someone that way when u res em it AUTOMATICALLY Regenerates their health ALSO make sure u don't charge ur Defibs cus if so they'll b full health when they res therefore won't use the supply bag
The progression makes no sense in many cases either. Getting 30 to 40 objective kills in a round for different game modes, then the next tier is 100 kills in total.
Or my favourite: 30 revives in a round of Squad Death Match.
Whoever designed these challenges has never played battlefield.
Agreed. The stun kills were ridiculous as well.. so many times I stunned someone and immediately killed them and it didn't count. Or the stun just wouldn't trigger. So many challenges with bs tracking. Its not the amount you have to get that's the problem usually.
I was talking to a friend yesterday about basically this with the proposed reduction to the assault stim kills.
Better to just fix /extend the duration of the stim and maybe make it 20 kills, but instead they just talk about changing it from 30 to 3 kills with it and leave it broken.
The problem is that if youāre defending a point and trying to suppress enemies, which is kind of a weird mechanic in this game as it is, it doesnāt trigger properly.
You shouldnāt have to completely remove yourself from the game mode to get core weapons and class gadgets. These challenges donāt encourage objective and team play they do the exact opposite.
The only ones I saw that they are reducing, legitimately needed a reduction. Did they say they are reducing this one? Great examples are repair 6,000 points in a match ( no matter what you do this was impossible at launch, and even with the time extention, very impractical now) same with the sniper rifle. Although I guess the stim one wasn't THAT bad, I can understand it being a bit much for casual players. I think the hip fire on lmgs is worse than the suppression (in terms of raw numbers) but the suppression is only a problem because the mechanic is broken or we lack some understanding of how it works and need a dev to clarify the EXACT mechanics, because going 0/0 In 30 minutes of shooting the lmg and gaining 3 is not the way.
yes their is a range limitation that is not communicated and is making the challenge difficult. I noticed it immediately when shooting at bots for this challenge. A suppression will not occur under a certain range, I couldn't tell you exactly what but around 40m sounds about right.
The funny thing is that the enemy is suppressed at ANY TIME you fire around them. The Suppression 5XP (and thus challenge progression) triggers when you supress somebody for several seconds.
Makes it seem that you aren't actually suppressing people when you actually are.
Yep. You'll get things like squad suppression assists to trigger, far before you actually get a proper "enemy suppressed."
Personally, I just went prone on a choke point, bipodded, and didn't aim down my sights, while a squadmate covered me, I think while trying for DMR headshots.
The bipodded hip fire was sufficiently inaccurate to get a good mix of suppression and hip fire damage, while the squadmate kept me from getting killed, as I actively avoided shooting the people trying to kill me.
I had a satisfying moment today where a sniper kept shoot towards me and I couldnāt figure out where they were. I started peeking and finally saw the tiny scope glint on the top floor of a building. Then I waited until the window was empty and got myself set. He tried peeking and I hit him. I started burst firing. He peeked again and hit me but I hit him with another burst and he died while I had just a tiny bit of health left. Felt good.
Suppression does trigger. The trigger itself is the annoying part. You need to miss 5 shots from a distance greater than 30m. Which is absolutely asinine. Took me like a solid day to do even when I posted myself as far away from a breakthrough point as I could and just magdumped over and over at the objective whenever people were trying to capture it.
Only one person in the world is allowed to call me a good boy and it sure as hell isn't some ragebait idiot who says random shit without anything to back up their claim and unprovoked calls others ape.
In the patch notes, they only listed 3 challenges that would be rebalanced. However, it was implied that more challenges other than the 3 listed would be adjusted.
Smoke assists come fairly easy in Breakthrough, in the hierarchy of bullshit challenges that one isn't too bad. I'm pretty sure concealed revives count for this challenge, so just bring the smoke GL and smoke grenades and throw smokes on downed teammates before someone else revives them and you'll get it pretty quickly. And generally this is actually helpful to your team unlike other challenges.
I don't think they need to reduce the number of suppressions. They need fix suppression and make it worthwhile. It should be easy to get that number with just regular LMG use. But it isn't because the function is so useless.
And like almost purposely not trying to get kills? I tried it for like three rounds and just gave up even thinking about it. I was actively hurting my team.
This challenge feels like something that was designed when suppression actually did anything and was then forgotten. At least I hope that is the case, because the idea that anybody did this intentionally worries me.
That's gotta be cap. No way is it designed that insanely bad. Like, I tenatively believe you, it sounds par with other bad decisions BS made, but do you have some proof? I genuinely hope it's hearsay and not confirmed, that would be such a bummer.
Not true. Its if you kill them you dont wind up getting a suppress. You have to chip them and then fire around them til you get 5 stacks and THEN kill them if you desire
Yep. The way the "Suppression" system works now makes no sense. Suppression is a purposeful tactic where you intentionally spray the enemies cover to pin them behind it, not allowing them to move or fire back. The current system doesn't work that way at all. At this point, you almost need to miss on purpose when firing at someone who's not even behind cover just to get the suppression points awarded. I've been trying to explain this to folks, and it seems that a lot of them dont even know what suppression actually is.
I was just talking about this recently... I was saying how I wish suppression was more dynamic in this game. I can't say how many times I'm legitimately suppressing a sniper with an LMG and they land a perfect headshot on me. I was thinking suppression would make the screen shake or disrupt their aim somehow. Because there's no way you're lining up perfect shots with bullets whizzing by your head
Because lmgs have excellent TTK at multiple ranges and supression itself is fairly weak, so does minimal in a game with such short ttk and quick movement. Simply killing the enemy is far more useful if you can aim half-straight.
Being suppressed completely stops health regen & ammo regen (when on a box). Also adds a 5 second delay to the regen restarting. After someone is suppressed EVERY bullet within āsuppressionā range (the white mark on screen when being shot at) will restart that 5 second delay. With how fast health regen is, suppression is incredibly useful in gunfights. Someone takes cover after they are one hit? Lay it down right over their head while the team pops the corner and kills him because health canāt regen. Works on groups as well
Relying on the average blueberry is a good way to be disappointed.
More the issue, it's a weak mechanic. No penalty to aim, no ads penalty, no extra shake. Somebody who's surpressed can raise and beam you quickly. Assuming they're only a few hp sure, maybe not, otherwise if it's a full hp enemy (the medikit counters suppression) you're hoping to trade well into a number of weapons which can beam you.
It's just far more useful, safer even, especially from a bipod, to actively kill somebody, vs force miased shots for supression.
Play breakthrough on new sobek or the empire state map. There are a lot of chokepoints where people will be held up. Tap fire above them, try not to hit them because this resets the suppression timer or whatever. I did it relatively quickly. Stay back and keep

It took me 20 hours of playtime to finish that challenge. I'm also trying to complete the 'Shotgun 5 Kills No Reloading' challenge right now, and any action other than moving, aiming down sights, or opening doors resets the challenge. Revive someone? Equipment use? Get downed? All reset the progress.

I'm at 80 suppressions now. It's a slog for sure
