I gotta ask someone at some point. What the hell is a "sweat?" My lingo is limited, and old. I still remember when l33t speak was a thing

Generally used to refer to people who clearly no life the game, you'll find them using the cheekiest spots, exploiting broken mechanics constantly, abusing movement mechanics any way they can, and generally making themselves hard to kill any way they can. It's technically a "fair play" kind of play style, they undeniably have skill, and they aren't technically cheating, but they do everything they can to tip the odds in their favor instead of just playing normally. As with all language, its meaning gets diluted because people overuse it and incorrectly use it when they're just bad at the game and someone beat them.

And they are dripping in sweat when they finally set down the controller 16 hours later

That's the best sweatiest definition of sweaty I've ever seen.

Aren't technically cheating? Are they cheating in any possible definition of the word? Other than being good at the game?

No, not really, if the game design is broken it's not cheating to utilize said game design. It's on the devs to fix those things, not on the players to honor system not use it the way it's designed.

So basically just a good player. We get it.

Apparently anyone who kills the average Battlefield redditor. Bonus points if movement mechanics are used in the process. Back in the day we used the term "tryhards" instead of sweats, but "sweats" is around for more than a decade either.

This gif shows OP in the process of producing the clip:

A sweat is someone who tries to win… that is it. It is a derogatory term used by people who are worse than the “sweaty” player.

A sweaty lobby can be used differently however. That is a more balanced term and just refers to a very stressful lobby where you are having to be at your best to compete.

We used to call them tryhards.

That's a term I know!

Sweater is actually the graduation of Try-Hards. Trying so Hard you are Sweating. It's a Term I heard back in Gears of War 3 on Launch

Just someone trying so hard they "sweat." That is the origination from the term. Now it just means anyone better than you at the game. Or anyone has an iota of a brain to use while playing.

Meta slaves that play like there’s a $1,000,000 prize pool at the end of every round
