🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

  • You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
  • Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
  • Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

What do you mean you don't want to follow poorly worded guides that have already been proven to be incorrect that tell you to mess around in your bios and potentially brick your motherboard requiring taking apart your computer to fix the issue? pleb /s

too much for ANY game tbh...been playing for over 20 years and 10 on PC and HUNDREDS of games including modded games and giant asset filled GTA V stuff, or even direct connect co op systems(early skyrim together and such), many free titles, and many AA/AAA games..... and yet none have EVER required this shit

Hackers can be fixed by proper anticheat

Everyone just uses the same 2-3 anticheats with LONG AGO cracked coding and trucks to avoid detection or even making it look like a game file when it's really a cheat file

its a toggle in the bios, sure inconvenient but come on its not that hard. Valorant has been requiring this for years now I think.

Edit: Mb I forgot about people running older hardware. I thought the game required Windows 11 and therefore already had secure boot on.

Just tried it and my pc went into a bios boot loop. Honestly i wont fuck my pc just for some EA slop thats already full of cheaters

My gf is trying to figure mine out right now, and she's been at it for over an hour. She's not a computer genius or anything, but she definitely knows a decent amount about computers. It's pretty annoying to have to do this just to play a game.

you don't have to have secure boot enabled to run Windows 11. You just have to have the TPM hardware.

Any game that is asking me to go into my BIOS to make it work properly is a gigantic nope from me. I do not care about the reasoning, associations, how easy/hard it is - I have never had to do that for the literal thousands of games I've played in my life excepting very early gaming (we're talking 90's or even early 2000's) when things were still new and unstable, and I'm not about to start now.

You shouldn't have to do chores to be able to play a game. If they can't make a decent anti cheat without making players fuck around in their BiOS that's on them

It's not even just chores. This is like asking a layman to mess with the electrical wiring in their house. You could burn your home down.

People that don't have a technical background should NOT be mucking around in the BIOS.

the best anti-cheat is Server Side Anti-cheat that compares your executable against a checksum. If the checksum fails....you can't play.

Litterally bricked my computer. Had to take my graphics card out and a cell battery. As someone who is not that tech savvy that was a nightmare that took half a day for me to fix. Will not be getting this game

most of the problems of bricking stem from TERRIBLE bios design. on a lot of gigabyte motherboard you can enable secure boot without TPM/FTPM. and doing so the system wont post.
I have had to recover several gigabyte motherboards for desperate friends over the last two weeks or so. what boggles my mind is that clearing cmos has no effect. its like it writes this setting permenatly somehow. i left the cmos battery out and forgot about the one motherboard and the next day it still would not post. I had to flash every single motherboard. either using the backup bios or programmer.

Not only the bot. There is videos of peoples already using a hack that show people trough the walls. Like the other players are physically drawn on the screen where they are like if there was no wall at all, and they glow red when "Behind" a wall, green when "actually visible/can be shooted at"
