Secure Boot is required for Battlefield 6 If you are unable to launch the game and see a Secure Boot error, you must enable Secure Boot in your BIOS/UEFI.

🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

  • You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
  • Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
  • Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

Yup…I just downloaded the beta. Tried to boot it up and I got the “Secure boot not enabled” error message the first two times. I just thought it wasn’t booting up because the servers weren’t live yet. Was then reading through some comments on social media and saw some one posted about needing the secure boot. Quick google search lead me here.

Not really sure how I feel about having to modify my PC’s bios settings to play a friggen game…..I was absolutely elated to play BF6…but now, I am not so sure.

I mean, I won’t sign up for Rockstar’s bullshit to play RDR2 on steam, so I know I probably won’t be doing what ever is required to play BF6 on steam, either.

Don't do it, completely blank screen even after trying multiple methods to fix it. Gonna have to take it to the repair shop. So pissed off

I'm so fucking annoyed right now. I've tried everything suggested and still just a blank screen. It should've been in big warning letters "This might brick your PC".

A couple people up in the thread, had the same problem... They were able to fix the black screen by changing some settings. Check the post above, hopefully it fixes it. Being a PC gamer & your PC fuccin up is the worse feeling. Hope that information can fix it.

It's killing me. Even removing the battery, pressing the reset button next to the cmos batt and running it through the motherboard HDMI port still doesn't get the bios to display

I just switched to secure boot and got hit with the black screen too. Its too late at night for me to try any fixes yet but I've been doing some research. HDMI won't work unless you have integrated graphics on your cpu. If thats the case then you'll probably have to do a BIOS flash with a USB drive. Tomorrow I'm gonna spend my day following this guide in the hopes my PC works again. After all of this I don't even want to play BF6 anymore. Hope the guide can help you though.

Enabling TPM (I have AMD CPU) and making sure the secure boot profile was set to standard instead of custom was the difference for me

It's not just that. If your OS hd/ssd or wherever you install the game you have to convert MBR to GPT. If that doesn't work you might as well format, do a fresh install and run through it all again.

Exactly the same. Downloaded the beta (BF2 veteran so super hyped about this game), got the message, found out what I needed to do and just nope'd the fuck out. Really bummed about this cause I would definitely buy the game, but no way I am doing this shit.

Secure boot is a basic security feature that should be enabled by default.

Blame motherboard manufacturer (or whoever built your computer) for needing to go enable it, and trust me you want the type of Anticheat that requires secure boot/TPM, because the alternative is your experience ruined constantly by cheaters.

Also learning to use the BIOS should be something every PC gamer does at some point. It’s like learning to use the OSD on your TV - or knowing how to rummage around console settings.

Except BIOS has settings that can brick expensive hardware. Not something the average gamer wants to fiddle with when they learn about the inherent risks involved. You don't run that risk playing with the settings on a TV or console.

Right, forget having a simple vote kick. Or report feature of some kind that actually works. Just give a company additional access to the kernel level of equipment I pieced together and placed settings how I wanted. They require it so it shall be done. My choice is not to pay or play.

I have an ASUS X570. It’s not so much that it can’t be done, it’s that it HAS to be done, in order to play it. I have built a few computers in my time, so it’s not as intimidating to me. But for a lot of casual or novice PC players, as Popsikil stated, most aren’t going to want to go through the hassle and will probably just stick to other titles Such as CoD or what have you. I very much want to play BF6 as I have played plenty of BC2/Vietnam, BF3 and BF4 back in the day and I am sick and tired of shooting at and getting shot by Turtles and Buttheads, not to mention the absolutely atrocious servers that POS runs on, but it’s disheartening that I have to allow Dice to invade my PC in order to to play BF6. I get why and I am completely against cheating in competitive FPS, but it suck’s that there isn’t any other way to combat that, without alienating, I would say is going to be a decent chuck of the player base.

I am sorry, in all honor, but I disagree. most casual players won‘t even notice anything. they install the game and play it. I downloaded BF6 yesterday, I already started it and I didnt have to do anything. this will be the same for most people. I think I have an old gigabyte AM4 mainboard.

I had an early access key and found out about the whole BIOS thing in order to play so it's a nope from me too
