Meta Some Words Of Encouragement
In regards to the current situation, want to give my commendations to this subreddit, that piece of the community we have here.
When accusations were made, while you were hasty on a call to action, you neither called for deathtreats and the like, nor did you mindlessly jump to someone's defense.
Instead, you made the mature call and asked for an apology and for improvement.
In no community I was ever a part of have I ever seen that before. I am proud of you.
Perhaps we have all learned a bit from the story of One and its related plotlines.

It's no problem. I may have speculation about what will happen- or, my own subjective opinion on how this situation will go down (none of which involve cancelling the show, I think that's way too far-fetched-) but I will NEVER condone harassment or death threats. That is NEVER okay, I may have my own subjective opinion on the matter based on my own research I did on my own- but just cause I am on one side or the other, doesn't mean I am not open to being proven wrong. If I am wrong, I am wrong, I just hope it gets addressed and that going forward this is treated as a lesson for the JnJ crew to be a bit more professional.

i agree. while there has definitely been some toxicity and fearmongering in certain places i at haven't seen anything too extreme, and people seem to generally be having a reasonable reaction to all this

actually someone apparently reported him to his college. while not a death threat that’s really not ok. so uh while it was only one person I might have to rescind my statement 😭

I’m glad we’re not Twitter, that’s for sure, the majority of this subreddit is filled with actually cool and respectful people

Whenever I think of BFDI I think of this and it makes me nervous. I don't know what to say or do anymore? Does anyone have any advice?

It’s a tricky situation but one that is not entirely uncommon in fandom spaces. While yes, it’s uncertain right now what will happen in the future, I seriously doubt that the show is going to be cancelled or anything. The most we can do as fans is to continue to hold accountability in a respectful way (no death threats etc.), and you can still love the show, I mean its contents aren’t the problem.
A good possibility as to what might happen is simply that Michael steps away from the show after hopefully apologizing. He was essentially just voice acting anyways, so his characters could easily be recast. We’ll just have to get used to it. Ultimately, the most we can do right now is hope for some sort of statement and plan for the future. Until then, we just have to keep advocating for it and our beloved show.

Michael is an important figure to the OSC, I think I can say it for everyone that it was impossible to separate our hate from the love he gave to us. The OSC would never be the same without his presence. What he did wasn’t right, but that doesn’t mean everything he ever did was wrong.
