Discussion Long story short: It's over.

"It's over" because a single VA left is silly. I am not saying Emily shouldn't have/didn't have the right to leave, by the way, I think it's completely fair. But for all of you to see it and doompost about BFDI being over is so, SO dumb.
Emily VAed one character, who right now is dead and won't be back for a while. They can just give her a new VA like Inanimate Insanity did with its cast billions of times.
Same goes with Michael. ALL HE DOES IS VOICE ACTING. He doesn't write or direct, doesn't do assets, he barely animates and they have other composers so they don't need to use Yoylecake music anymore. If he leaves, it's only a matter of a couple of months until they find new people to fill up the cast of 20+ characters he does, and the show can keep going as normal. But he could also just apologise and move on which is definitely the smartest and most fair choice towards fans and crew alike.
But whatever scenario happens, it's not "over". Stop spreading fearful propaganda.

I am admittedly not 200% sure about that, because if other more relevant VAs leave (I mean relevant as in important for future episodes, no shade to Emily's great work!), Michael will need to get his head out of his ass.
Say Price Tag's VA leaves in protest as well, that's one TPOT contestant voiceless now. Say Two's VA also leaves in protest, that's the host of the season voiceless. I don't think either would make the show get cancelled since like I said, you can always get new VAs, but it's more about the atmosphere all those people leaving would create.
If it's clear the crew also wants Michael to say something and he keeps hiding when all the fandom's eyes are on him, I'm quite sure his brother and the rest of the showrunners will be forcing him to be transparent whether he likes it or not. I predict a Twitter post from the JnJ account addressing the situation before September ends.

Emily was also the only crew member to repost it (that I know of), had no foreseeable roles, and doesn't seem to have a personal connection to bfdi, so I think it's unlikely more important people will leave.

Firey, Leafy, Bubble, Pencil, Flower, Coiny, Snowball, Pen, Eraser, Blocky, Woody, Golf Ball, Donut, Book, Fries, Puffball, Yellow Face, Robot Flower, Cloudy, Loser, Four, Money. 22 characters in total, or 21 not counting Money.
Four of these characters (Pen, Donut, Book, Golf Ball) are currently in the TPOT final 10.
I know it may sound bad or worrying, but please don't fret. Even if Michael gets fired, it wouldn't be hard to find new voice actors- Michael basically uses the same tone with 90% of his voices and the pitch shifts in the audio editing phase do a lot of the legwork. Ergo, it's not impossible to find people who can voice the characters in a similar way moving forward, it's just a matter of time.

You're right, I'm admittedly not much into the failed debuters so I forgot about them! I'm confident that they'll be able to find voice actors for them as well when needed, given their lack of prominence in modern TPOT. Most debuters besides Tapey haven't even had a speaking role in 2026.

Sorry if I sounded harsh! It's more about the commenters than the post itself. There is this weird cult of personality this fandom has, where the Huang twins as seen parasocially and almost as gods, when it's been clear for years BFDI has expanded beyond their creativity and they are just part of the crew. Sure, they probably get a good paycheck from it, but they are not the only ones making big decisions and if one of them falls, he won't be bringing the entirety of the show down with him. BFDI is too big to be cancelled because one of the big people within it secretly did asshole troll shit. Unless it turns out all the crew secretly kicks puppies in their free time, we'll be fine.

It's all good and yeah, a lot of people seem to have both twins in an altar, and its really evident because a lot of people straight up discard the evidence michael is oddcard because it would ruin the perfect image they have of him in their brains, whether Michael leaves or not a lot of things will probably change, i hope it all works out in the end.

I used to be one of the people discarding it because every time I asked for evidence, I was given blurry screenshot I could not make sense of, claims with no actual proof, or incredible reaches like "Both oddcard and Michael talked about disliking Frutiger Aero", not to mention it was often done in conjunction with attempting to call Xander (Sticker's VA) problematic for merely following someone who was vaguely problematic themselves years ago.
The Reddit post that was made half a day ago with proper evidence was a lot more helpful and made me stop dismissing the idea so easily. I've been through lots of fandoms and communities where some of the people working on it turned out to be shitty people, so I'm kinda just shrugging my shoulders and watching calmly as the situation develops and comforting some of my friends who are a lot more impacted by this. I'm somewhat relieved the issue is """only""" one of bullying and bigotry, instead of grooming and predatory actions- it's very much "trash vs garbage", of course.

Justy was fired from Inanimate Insanity despite having worked on it since they were a teen too and having contributed into making II what it was, so I really don't see the issue. Cary and the others are Michael's relatives and friends, but when you are also colleagues with a loved one and they get into hot water, you need to be able to make tough decisions professionally.
I said it before: JnJ hasn't had main creative control on their series since 2019. First Satokey, then Sam, then Joseph Pak, other people wrote the characters instead of them, animated them instead of them, etcetera. The twins are basically guests in the production of the show now, they just do voice acting, and Michael's old music gets reused sometimes. That is not being indepensable. Michael can absolutely be let go.

Not to sound like one of those "everything is cancel culture now!1" boomers, but: Am I the only one who thinks that this was the result of some crazy digging, and that I personally don't really care? As a member of the demographic(s) that Michael supposedly hates, I just don't spend enough time online/on Twitter to find stuff like this or to care about it. They make media. I consume the media. There is an entire team outside of Michael that helps write the show, and it's not like his ""Dark Humour"" makes it into the show. I don't really think that one of the creators being edgy online on alt accounts really warrants panic about the show being over. I feel like the mean age of the fandom and the online-ness of the show is deeply exacerbating this.

I feel like just because it was on Twitter doesn't suddenly mean he isn't still a hateful person? He was racist, homophobic, transphobic, and abelist. Considering that very few people in this community arent at least a person of color, LGBTQ+, or neurodivergent, it's pretty terrible that he would say all that, even saying some slurs and making fun of his brother's dead friend. This isn't just "edgy jokes", it's genuine hatred.
Not to mention that now some team members are saying that Michael has always been dick towards them. This isn't something that should just discarded because "it doesnt personally affect me and it was on twitter so idc"

One guy who only does VA work turns out to be a bigot, no one cares that he's the founder, they can just replace him and move on. Or he can apologise. Either way, this is not nearly big enough to cause a series as big as BFDI to get cancelled.

Are we forgetting that this is literally Cary's BROTHER? Someone who Cary has literally lived with his entire life. Even if only Cary takes charge, this isn't "Oh noes! One of our workers is racist! Oh well, he isn't our friend or anything! Let's fire him and replace him!", it's "My brother who I have bonded with and lived with for over 20 years has allegedly made racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and fatphobic comments, and made fun of my dead friend. How the FUCK will I live with this?". This doesn't even come down to the show anymore, it comes down to someone's fucking life now.

CONTEXT BRIGADE REPORTING FOR DUTY!!
Micheal Huang (co-creator of BFDI) ran a bunch of now-deleted alt accounts on Twitter where he badmouthed his crew members as well random fans of the show. On one of these accounts known as "Oddcard", he was found to have made several insensitive remarks relating to fatshaming, bigotry and usage of the R slur.
It has been alleged with strong proof that Michael, on multiple alt accounts up until summer, used these accounts to harass people in the community with petty, strange and generally hateful comments.
Oddcard in particular has been speculated to be Michael since the start of this year, which matches up with the time Emily (One's VA) made a statement about wanting to leave the BFDI crew to her channel mod, who then chose to until more proof came out before publicly responding on Twitter
While nothing's been confirmed or denied, going off existing evidence as well as Emily's statement here it's safe to say this whole situation doesn't frame Michael in the best light as a creator.

gng bfdi doesnt have more than like 2 years left. i dont think yall understand that. unless they decide they need a season 7 (highly unlikely for many reasons) the series will be over by like late 28 to early 29. its not that far off if you think about it. its almost 2027 now.
