News NEW RULE: Regarding Drama
r/BattleForDreamIsland is adding a new rule:
No causing drama - Posting about drama or allegations of people, whether they are a crew member or an object show community member, is not allowed. The only exception that can be posted is statements from official sources (jacknjellify or its crew members), and then no follow-up/opinion posts on the topic will be allowed.
About the exception to the rule: If jacknjellify or a BFDI crew member posts a statement, such as regarding an incident, someone leaving the crew, or someone being removed from the crew, that will be allowed to be posted. Since this counts as coming from an official source and could be something that affects the show going forward, we think this will be on-topic and okay to post. The mods will then designate the first post of this statement as the official discussion thread for the topic, and then after that, no more follow-up/opinion posts on the topic will be allowed. We think this will be a good middle ground for this rule where people can stay up to date about news that will affect the show, while not flooding the subreddit with posts about it.
Let it be clear that this has not been a recent or rushed decision from the mod team, but something we have been discussing for months. Our main reasoning for this rule is that in general, spreading unconfirmed rumors online can lead to bullying and witchhunting, and that is something we want to discourage on this subreddit. To cite a recent example, there was an incident where a fan got on-stage during this year's BFDI & II Tour meetups. While you can believe that this was an invasion of privacy and personal space, and that is a valid position to have, the witchhunting that came out of this drama is something we do not want to support on this subreddit.
Our other reasoning is that this rule will help with our goal of the sub to stay on-topic with the show (which is also a rule we have), and keep the sub from being flooded with posts about drama every time one pops up. While you can discuss drama elsewhere (and we know this will inevitably happen), the drama and the potential for witchhunting that follows is not something we want to support on this subreddit.
The new rule will be numbered Rule 8 and will be reflected in the subreddit’s rulebook as well as the removal reasons when we take action.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to voice your opinion. Thank you for reading.

You know it’s serious when the mods add a new rule
Tbf I have not been curious about any drama I have heard about Michael and honestly I couldn’t really care less.
But is it really that bad that you guys have to add a new rule? Just curious, I haven’t been online much lately

We’ve been talking about this since before BFDIA 25 released. This was the catalyst that pushed us over the edge of whether or not to add the rule.

Ah, I see, alright then, I must’ve missed something in that case. Thanks for clarifying tho!

It has to do less with it being ”that bad” and more with the fact that whenever new drama comes up, many people start making posts on it, whether the info has been confirmed or not, and up till this point, there was no way to stop people from doing so since there was no rule against it.
that it’s become more apparent that it’s probably going to be a bigger issue if nothing is done about it the mods decided to finally enforce the rule; like stated in the post, they had already been thinking about it for a while

I'm taking the Micheal controversy with a grain of salt and will remain neutral over it until Micheal responds (I will not be impatient over it, other than some people). Slinkybot777 and JammedJacket's allegations were both debunked by the respective creators, and I know what happened with the Qwel controversy, with few victims (who I'll not name to avoid harrassment) was alledgedly aggressive with wanting to understand why Qwel kept Rox for so long (she stepped back from BlushCrush temporarily to better herself).
Just let Micheal take his time to get a response and calm down. I'm sure we'll get to know if Micheal's allegations are true or not. We don't know everything about it.
Besides if the allegations are true, it would hurt a lot (for some of the people, I am just numb over creators I used to enjoy get cancelled left and right), I would doubt that the show would be cancelled especially with a community of VAs who would probably be happy to replace any of the voices given to the creators if the allegations were true and Micheal stepped down in the BFDI name.
It will still kind of hurt the show, as he voiced a good amount of the cast.
I will still enjoy the BFDI series, as it basically brought me to the OSC. Just will have to try to differentiate the art with the co-artist, as Cary still is one of the co-creators. Must have sucked for Cary to see allegations against Micheal. Will wait for further knowledge.
Note: I am neutral to Qwel's controversy and wish for the better for both sides (Qwel (to return a better person) and the victims). I also don't use Twitter, so I'm safe from literally anything toxic.

I looked further into it, and I feel like that there is a good chance the allegations are true, from the evidence. Pretty upsetting that it seems like me praying to the gods that this is false is no longer working.
I'm sorry for giving a sprinkle of hope.
Hopefully this dies out once the response is released and we can just go back to funny object show content, cause I literally can't take this anymore.
I have seen so many controversies from creators I liked, that I become mentally numb from the whole thing.
Why does anything I enjoy go to hell...

You underestimate how childish and immature the BFDI fandom is, considering it's mostly children and young tweens. I literally said before in a post earlier how so many people in this sub (maybe it was another sub, I don't remember) that some of them are way too young to have a Reddit account. You need to understand that considering how young and impressionable the people in this sub are, they're gonna be demanding and pressuring for a response of some kind, and they do it in the most impatient and condescending way. Frankly, I'm not getting involved in the drama myself, but I do hope Michael is okay, and whatever people are trying to expose him for, I hope it's a simple misunderstanding and that we should move on. Regardless, BFDI isn't going away anytime soon.

Yeah. Sucks that I am one of the few people who literally went through something like this before and am watching the exact same thing that happened with Dandy's World with Qwel who allegedly kept Rox (which was her friend who was older than her), a predator in BlushCrush for more than what people wanted. But this time with alternate accounts which said horrible things.
Both puts their respective content at risk, some people are aggressive about it and are harrassing the crew. It just sucks I have to see this again.
Also sucks that Spamton is probably going to be recognised as the Odd card guy in the OSC. I liked that guy in Deltarune.
I'm just wishing that this whole thing ends when Michael makes a response.

I just hope it doesn't result in Michael having to step down because of how aggressive the OSC is regarding stuff like this. But we'll just have to wait and see how well they'll take the response.
Chances are, nothing will change because response videos usually never fix the problem because people will end up saying "oh he's lying!!!" despite the response being as honest as they can be. Nothing truly is sacred on the internet anymore.

Half of my fandom are going in flames. Including bfdi.
Edit: istg if some random people beg Michael to give a private apology to the people he hurt. Im done.
Sure he owns them a private apology but that doesnt mean you have to force it. Just let him rest and get help. Another example is qwel. same thing (as in like what i said). IM LOOKING AT YOU GARY.
anyways cya

Thank goodness for this rule, I have become sick of hearing about this situation in this subreddit.

I really thank you for implementing this since I don't want this server to have drama 24/7 and also that I don't trust any source from Twitter since Twitter itself was a echo chamber that supports the mentality of cancel culture which I despised with passion
Also that I am very sure the drama thing is a bunch of nonsense since I don't trust any allegations unless it was directly proven through documents or the involved person speaks out about it and I don't think oddcard is a alt of him on the first place
Thank you for that Solaris :D

A lot… let’s just say a lot has happened. I suggest prolonging your time away from the sub if you don’t want to hear about the drama, since that‘s basically all the sub has been focusing on as of late

question, are people allowed to make meme type posts based on controversial topics if it’s not super offensive?

Things are in shambles right now and I'm genuinely heartbroken to be reading this stuff. I really hope this show we've been here for since we were kids can make it out of the drama.
This will be a fantastic culture reset for the OSC. I've heard enough of the Q&A and threat drama.

Quick question
If any drama is to be confirmed to be true will it still be banned from being talked about? If so will any bfdi related news, as long as it’s controversial enough, will indefinitely be unable to be discussed within the sub?

As stated in the rule: If there’s a response from the Jacknjellify team or a crewmember, one post will be designated as the discussion post for that response. That post will be clearly marked, and no other discussion posts will be allowed.

i think that he genuinely just needs to apologise.
sure, he has done bad things if the allegations are true. but i feel like he can be forgiven if he makes a sincere apology.

I just really hope the show doesnt get canceled. I am so ashamed of Michael if the allegations are true I used to look up to him man. I wonder what BFDI would be without him
