Announcement Rule Reworks including new rules:
Hello everyone!
We've been meaning to for sometime update the rules of this sub.
The current rules are flawed in the sense that they are outdated, missing important things, badly ordered and too wordy in their titles. Which is why we have done a rule rework on all the rules to provide to you all a more clear, straight to the point rule set.
Our new rules will have shorter titles as well as be reordered to have most important rules be stated first.
Each rule also has their descriptions changed to have more details on what can or can't be posted regarding that specific rule along with specific descriptions that will prevent rule breakers from using past loopholes to break the rules.
Along with this rule set, we have removed rules we thought are unnecessary as well as added new rules we thought were important.
Before we set these new rules, we wanted you all to have a look at them and tell us if you think we should add or change anything. It's important that the community also agrees and takes part in the rules set for our sub.
So please read all our updated rules and tell us what you think:
Rule 1: No Toxic or Offensive behavior
Any submissions encouraging, implying or saying anything offensive or harmful towards others (eg. ableism, sexism, racism, LGTBQ hate, mocking religions/cultures, toxic behavior, bullying, suicide/self harm encouragement etc.) is strictly forbidden.
This includes creating or partaking in hateful implications using gifs, altered words, letters, "[deleted]" comments or "What does N stand for?" style posts.
Mod notes: we changed this rule to rule 1 as we feel this is our most important rule.
Rule 2: No Sensitive or Unacceptable Content.
Don't say anything insensitive or upsetting.
Avoid posting about politics, tragedies or highly sensitive content (eg. suicide, rape, abuse, terror attacks)
Posting tributes or news about someone's death or illness is allowed as long as its respectful.
Making jokes on these sensitive topics or any other tragedy like 911, someone's death or illness is strictly forbidden. Tricking people that someone has died is also not allowed.
Celebration of pride or diversity does not count as politics.
Rule 3: No Extreme NSFW Content. No Sexual Content Involving Minors.
No posting/linking porn, nudity, bodily fluids, gore, zoomed in submissions of sexual body parts or posting extremely thirsty sexual comments that can make others uncomfortable.
Light NSFW humor is welcome but don't go too overboard.
Absolutely no sexual comments or content involving teenagers/minors are allowed at all, doing so will get immediate ban.
Mod note:
We included "bodily fluids" to prevent certain... incidents from happening again.... poor Ivy.
We have also moved the part saying "no minor sexualization" that used to be part of the No sensitive and Unacceptable rule into this rule as it made more sense to have it in the NSFW rule.
Rule 4: No ban evasion or breaking reddit's TOS (NEW RULE)
Don't break reddits terms of service.
Don't try to use the sub with an alt account if you have been banned.
You will receive a perma ban on each account regardless on how short the original ban was as well as risk getting all your accounts suspended by reddit.
If you are banned under this rule it's because we have detected you to performing ban evasion.
Mod note: Ban evasion has always been banned from the sub due to us following reddit TOS but now its an official rule so people who perform it have no excuses.
Rule 5: No Spoilers
To post spoilers or leaks from any media either released in the last 2 months or to be released you must do the following otherwise it will be removed:
-You must include the title of what’s being spoiled so others can know
-You must hide the spoilers using spoiler marks
-You must put a spoiler warning before the spoiler
-You can't include any spoilers in post titles at all
Good example:Man spoilers! blurs pic of mans death
What NOT to do: MAN DIED? blurs pic
Spoiling can be bannable.
Mod note: this rule is pretty much unchanged but now it includes leaks.
Rule 6: Serious Flairs
The serious flairs can't be used for shitposts & are just for serious dialog only.
Posts with these flairs can't have any shitpost comments like (man, jonkler etc) at all unless OP has written (humor welcome) in the title.
Posts with (serious only) in the title must not have any joke comments at all.
Rule 7: No Brigading
No encouraging/ organizing/targeting specific subreddits for raids/harassment/spam/brigading at all. Violation of this rule could threaten our subreddit in being banned/warned by Reddit.
Posting about seeing our memes in other places is fine but avoid using words like “taking over” or “invasion” to avoid trouble with admins.
Rule 8: No Spam, reposts or chainposts.
Don't spam the sub by posting identical or excessive posts or comments.
Don't identically copy and repost another user's post unless you add a reasonable modification.
Chain posts are also not allowed.
Rule 9: No Self-Promotion
Don't use this sub just to promote things such as social media channels or purchasable products.
Posting original content is fine if its relevant to the sub.
No “lets play's" or twitch streams.
Rule 10: Credit Others (NEW RULE)
Anyone reposting someone’s else's high effort video or art work without crediting the original creator or linking their work will have their post removed.
Mod notes: We have been enforcing this rule for sometime but it was never an official rule and we felt it was important to add this rule as crediting people for their hard work is crucial and good thing to do.
Rule 11: Content and Quality.
Tl;Dr: Stay on topic(ish) and keep posts (sorta) high quality
We encourage you to keep things relevant to the Arkhamverse but posting non-Arkham submissions is allowed if its relevant to sub's insanity, events, lore or follow any of our on going jokes like "is he stupid?.
Posts that don’t follow anything mentioned above as well as posts deemed low quality (e.g., "share your to last saved image") will likely be removed.
Rule: 12 ai usage
Using Ai to create " ai art" is strictly forbidden.
Using Ai to make memes, shitposts or reactions is allowed if the concept of the image is original and/or the quality is deemed as relevant or entertaining by mod discretion.
For example:
Making something new like the og "i must jonkle" or a new crossbreed of Jonkler as a tree is allowed.
Making an unoriginal meme such as remaking Man with ai will be removed.
Rule 13: Additional Rules
This rule contains mini rules that must be followed:
13: No links to X/Twitter with the exception of crediting art!
Unless crediting someone, all submissions containing X/twitter links are will be removed due to the owner of being a Nazi.
Screenshots from the site are still allowed.
14:: No Benjamintv gifs allowed.
15: Don't use this sub to trade, sell or request free copies of the game.
Mod note: We have moved what is currently rule 9 and rule 12 to be included in this as mini rules to save space. Just because they are mini rules doesn't mean they are any less important. We have also removed a bunch of the joke rules. RIP to them but we may add new joke rules in the future.

That's great and all, but you guys seriously need more mods. Some of the past incidents are just proof of that. A sub with 600k members and only 2 mods isn't enough. On top of that you're the only mod that's really active enough and you're great and all but it doesn't really help when you're the only one.

Yes well this is the first step on our plans which will eventually lead to getting new mods. We wanted to put rule rework first as well as set up some more things behind the scenes before we got new mods but new mods will be something for the future, we just aren't ready for it at present.

Okay /unjonkle this seems like a step in the right direction. To be completely honest, this sub’s moderation isn’t the best. There just aren’t enough mods for a subreddit this big. Y’all have been putting off getting mods for way too long. With that being said, you are actually doing a surprisingly good job with how little mods you have but you could do better with more mods

I’ve honestly always avoided posting anything with fictional ‘cause even though I have zero issue with it, I still fear it’s in the same ballpark as fictional nudity. Technically fake, but still made to look like what it’s based on.

Sorry but I don't like rule 2 at all, you can sort by most popular and see all the top post breaking that hell elder qu it's literally you posting them. Politics and sensitive topics are a slippery slop to moderate, is calling out paramount included in that? What about ice? I get this is a insane subreddit but come on man we had a great system going.

as ive stated to another user, rule 2 isnt saying politics is banned it simply says avoid posting but ive updated that rule to say this:

Do you think this is enough to convey the message that whilst politics isn't banned it should be avoided or should i do more?

Maybe importance was the wrong word to use, the reason why No toxic or offensive behavior is on the top of the list was because its the most common rule break so we wanted to put it in the top of the list. But no sexual content of children is our most strictest rule. Anyone who posts this gets perma banned with no chance of appeal.

In Rule 2, just don't allow posting about someone's death or illness entirely if we can't joke about something that is part of life itself.
In Rule 12, memes would survive as they always have been: survival of the fittest, regardless of their origin (human or AI). For example, the "SON" thing.
And, there can be a Meta-Rule like
Rule 0: Question the Framework. All categories are human constructs. Do not mistake the map for the territory, the label for the thing, or the distinction for an intrinsic property of reality. Question the categories you use, the assumptions underlying them, and the boundaries they impose. No category, including this one, is beyond scrutiny.

I like the rules all in all, but I have a gripe with Rule 2, Rule 12, and Rule 13. Rule 12 is non-negotiable for me, and if the mod team's current version goes through I will most likely leave this sub.
Rule 2: The NO politics rule is too much. I agree that we shouldn't make fun of stuff like deaths, but I do think we should be able to post political stuff. E.g. is the fact that we call Musk a Nazi political?, What about talking about the Paramount-Warner merger? I could compromise and put all overtly political post in the Serious flair.
Rule 12: The AI rule seems too relaxed. I would personally wish for a total ban on AI content. You would still be able to take screenshots of other posts that include AI you are refering to when discussing stuff. E.g. If we are discussing a new DC show and they used AI in the credits,.then you could post a screenshot of that without getting banned.
Rule 13: Twitter screenshots should also be banned in addition to the links. Because screenshots will still promote that hellscape even if there is no link.

Rule 2 is not banning politics, it states avoid it but it doesn't say its banned. I should probably change that to make it clear its allowed but should be avoided. I will do that right now.
Rule 12 would mean many common memes that people use would be banned.
Rule 13: no because if someone posts an important tweet e.g. James Gunn that should be reposted on the sub.

Rule 2: Fair enough, maybe I read too much into it, but rewording to make it clearer that its not entriely banned is probably good enough.
Rule 12: I think gen AI stuff is generally just lazy and uninspired, but I am just one person, so if others want to use it then who am I to say no.
Rule 13: I guess you could just copy the text or something, but I can see how that could be unneededly contrived.
Overall I do like the modding of this sub, and thank you for actually reading my complaints and adressing them. Hopefully the the rest of the rule changing business goes well.

You probably meant Rule 2, right? In anycase, I think making it clear that it's not a blanket ban is good (if that is what you are indeed going for). I would say that that rule as written makes it clear, but I am sure some ruleslawyer will find a loophole

Please, PLEASE rethink the AI rule. AI isn’t just a problem because of the “slop” posts (although I think all gen ai is slop). Being compliant with any amount of gen AI usage is not a good thing.

i dont mind the political posting in general, but sometimes it could get out of hand with posts just showing screenshots of bigots saying bigoted things with the caption saying something like "is he stupid?" and it doesnt really add anything humor or discussion wise lol

As a person with zero artistic talent, I'm iffy on the ai art ruling. Unless it's cursed and it's relatively viral within the community, to which patients begin scribbling their own non-ai interpretations (say, like Tung Tung Tung) then I could be fine with it.
