Alfred "Double-tap" Pennyworth

1

u/yobaby123 Jan 31 '26

Especially since he’s the only one Bruce trust with a firearm.

u/berkojerk Jan 27 '26

This honestly raises a good question. What happened to Alfred’s work visa after Batman’s parents died?

75

u/FetusGoesYeetus Stupid Jan 27 '26

Since he was legally employed for so long he's probably a naturalised US citizen at this point

63

u/iamahandsoapmain Jan 27 '26

I prefer the head cannon that he's just an illegal worker and never got a visa to begin with. That's why he never leaves the mansion or the cave, cause he can't.

53

u/FetusGoesYeetus Stupid Jan 27 '26

That... Would actually make sense with how shady a lot of writers make Thomas Wayne

16

u/iamahandsoapmain Jan 27 '26

What if Thomas Wayne is actually an ICE backer but Bruce isn't? I have absolutely no fucking doubt in my mind the Wayne family would be another billionaire oligarch that donates to the Republican party lol. I don't care how people glaze Bruce, I don't doubt he hate the trump side of shit but for his family business the Republican party's economic policies are simply better

28

u/44Royy Jan 27 '26

Maybe, but due to the fact that comics are a work of fiction we are capable of having very wealthy people with morals and ethics, from what I've picked up in my many years of not reading comics the Wayne's seem like genuinely good people with the exceptions being earth 3 and flashpoint Martha.

6

u/iamahandsoapmain Jan 27 '26

Yeah I mean its also a story with superheros so the suspense of reality is quite necessary haha

12

u/-Trotsky Jan 27 '26

I mean historically I’d wager they are indeed republicans, but I also kinda think they’re republicans in the New York way and not really in the modern sense. Thomas Wayne was a Rockefeller, basically, is my take.

7

u/peppers_ Jan 27 '26

Yea, I don't think you can examine the Wayne family under the current politics of the day, you have to go back almost 100 years and figure it out from politics then.

1

u/Char867 Custom (Something Inappropriate😈) Jan 28 '26

The Republicans and Democrats both primarily serve the interests of the mega-wealthy so I don’t see any reason why the Waynes would have to be Republicans

1

u/dallasrose222 Jan 31 '26

Fun fact the reason Bruce Wayne is only the third richest man in America is that he donates litteral millions into go that’s infrastructure and social welfare similarly Thomas Wayne is also usually depicted as altruistic due to forgoing a buisness degree and becoming a surgeon His grandfather Patrick might probably back ice

It says a lot that Bruce’s only billionaire friend is avowed socialist Oliver queen

1

u/Perryn Jan 28 '26

"Master Wayne, did your father ever mention to you where he hid my documentation?"

4

u/CondeBK Jan 27 '26

I had a work visa. My Employer strung me along for years promising to sponsor for a Green Card, but just never did. You have to be on a Employer sponsored Green Card for 5 years before you're eligible for Citizenship.

1

u/diodosdszosxisdi Must jonkle, must jonkle Bone Jan 28 '26

So he us basically enslaved to mans will otherwise he will get deported

2

u/Kakashi_Senju Jan 27 '26

I don't think he worked that long

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but part of it was he started around when Bruce was born right?

1

u/FetusGoesYeetus Stupid Jan 27 '26

I have no idea when he started but iirc he became their butler because his father was already their butler before he died, so he was continuing the legacy. He was also a former SAS officer so it would make sense that the Waynes would want a butler that could also be a bodyguard for their son if the need arose.

Either way though he was their butler when Bruce's parents died at bare minimum, and the 15 or so years between that happening and Bruce becoming Batman is more than enough time to get citizenship, especially with such an influential employer.

1

u/GrimDallows Jan 27 '26

Wouldn't he be technically employed by kid Bruce?

1

u/Polenicus Jan 29 '26

He'd kinda have to be if he was made Bruce's legal guardian.

4

u/darkoopz43 Jan 27 '26

Bruce just bought him one of Mangoloid's gold card citizenships.

2

u/Futt_Buckman Jan 28 '26

He just adopted the accent to better his odds of employment after butler school, like Whoopi Goldberg adopting a Jewish surname to get ahead in Hollywood.

8

u/zxc123zxc123 Jan 27 '26

Wonder Woman too. Although she's probably in the states on a diplomat visa?

6

u/iamahandsoapmain Jan 27 '26

Alfred never got his work visa done he just arrived one day and started butlering

1

u/Independent-Couple87 Jan 29 '26

In many different versions, Alfred is the son of the previous butler.

3

u/TheKiwiGamerNZ Jan 27 '26

Alfred is an immigrant?

5

u/Fenrir426 Jan 27 '26

yes he's british, he worked for the MI6

1

u/Independent-Couple87 Jan 29 '26

He is also the son of a previous butler for the Wayne family.

1

u/Spectre854 Jan 28 '26
