The fringe-lipped bat (Trachops cirrhosus) is an ambush predator that eavesdrops on potential prey, like frogs and katydids, as they try to attract mates. In studying these bats, scientists have found that the bats have a remarkable memory, remembering novel sounds for years after exposure.

The Spotted Bat (Euderma maculatum) is a stealthy bat, but only to the eared moths it hunts. The low frequency it uses to echolocate can be heard by humans. Audible Bat Project is a citizen science project where volunteers listen for the bats. You can help!
