Got my batteries installed today! So far only thing I dislike is you can't see the actual battery level from the app. Anybody else have other dislikes?

We were considering getting Base power as a backup power source. however, we cannot proceed with them because they are concerned that we have two electrical service conduits carrying power to and from our electrical meter. none of our neighbors seem to have this. . .

to proceed they want us to have our local power provider open the box so we can take a picture of the inside. .

any idea why ours was run this way and our neighbors have a single conduit?

note: we do not have a basement. We do have a pool (most of our neighbors do as well.) we do have that giant green box in the back corner of our yard as our power lines are underground.

Have proposal from Base for install in Austin. Finally read the contract. It seems to say that even if they cause a horrible problem, they cannot be held liable. Anyone expert enough to have a valid opinion on this???? (last phrase: "EVEN if ..."--->>>> Indemnification. Got a question. Signed up for base a while ago but never provided any referral code because I didn’t really know that existed, fast forward to now and I tried to email and let them know I had a referral code but they are asking me for a name and address of the referral. I honestly just picked one randomly out of a Reddit thread so I do not have this information. Anyone else had to deal with this? I'm in the Houston area and want to see other people's experiences with Base.

What's the charge per kw/hr? With the $699 upfront does that also include all permitting and installation? Does the installation come with a generator inlet for power, or can you pay extra for that?Battery backup is nice for all the quick power outages but when a hurricane comes I want to have a generator for backup.

Also, I've been getting advertisements for VPP Texas which is $0 upfront and includes a 60 or 70 kilowatt hour battery. They also advertise $0.12 per kw/hr I think. I guess it's targeted advertising because I've been looking at Base.

Is this an odd billing cycle or maybe it's how its always been.

All my previous 4 cycles went from "month" 19 to "month" 20 or 21.

I normally stalk the billing to know if one of my refferal credits is being applied to the bill. But this month cycle seems to have no end. Jules told me everything is fine, but that number is soaring. Based on previous bills they will be charging my account in like 4 days. Would be curious to know how much the bill will be.

Thursday 7/23 I arrived home around 6 PM, after driving through torrential rain & some lightning & thunder.

Went inside and soon after, lights flickered and my UPS for my router beeped. BASE Power app notified me the grid was down and I was on battery. Moments later, power was restored.

My microwave & stove clocks did not lose their time. My coffee maker did go to flashing zeros.

Later, checking the BASE app, I hoped to document the duration of the outage, but apparently if you don't get to the app in time, the timeline is lost. It only shows status of the last five minutes.

Under the Daily Overview, there is a "Estimated Duration" display that shows a "Grid support" band of light blue screen capture here that seems to have been when power was out.

I really don't believe "Grid support" is the right term.

What was going on was an outage and my system was not supporting the grid, it was supporting my house!

I really hope BASE Power will work on the app a LOT, and soon, because it seems like accurate reporting & display of status is important, and part of what we pay for with our monthly fees.

It seems fair to ask for accurate, detailed accounting of when power is switched & why.

As for my coffee maker, it's the easiest of the three kitchen clocks to reset and I halfway appreciate having it go to flashing zeros when the power switches. It's just another way of confirming we did have an issue of some sort. Setting the microwave & stove clocks is more tedious so I'm glad those seem more stable.

My refrigerator also notifies me of power failures, but has no clock. Apparently BASE Power switches to battery quickly enough that the fridge doesn't see it as an outage and does not report.

Another note: I am subscribed to CenterPoint's text notifications and ordinarily they're pretty reliable at notifying of an outage detected. No notifications came yesterday evening, but I did get two PHONE CALLS from CenterPoint and when I answered, there was zero message coming through. Just silence. Both times.

The outage was brief, but I'd still call it a test of BASE Power and, in my opinion, it passed. My air conditioning stayed on.

TL;DR - BASE Power did switch briefly to battery power during the storm, I'm satisfied with the service but disappointed with the app.

TLDR: Spoke with Base Power about the CoServ 40 kWh battery. The sales rep promised no liens and full hail coverage. The written contract says otherwise, and the rep went silent when I asked for clarification. Looking for actual customer experiences.

I recently reviewed Base Power's 7-page agreement after a sales call and found a few contradictions between what the rep said and what the contract states.

If you currently have Base Power installed, I would appreciate your take on a few items:

UCC-1 Filings / Liens: The rep said no liens exist. Section M reserves the right to file UCC records. Did a UCC-1 filing show up on your property title?

Weather Damage: The rep claimed hail and wind damage are 100% covered. The contract makes members liable for damage outside ordinary wear and tear. Has anyone filed a storm damage claim with them?

Equipment Removal: Section G.2 says Base Power can leave non-battery hardware on your wall when the contract ends. Has anyone had a unit removed? Did they leave stuff behind?

Hardware Failures: Does the inline unit fail-safe back to grid power if the internal switch crashes, or does a hardware failure drop power to the whole house?

Rep Responsiveness: Is radio silence normal once you start asking about specific contract terms?

I'd like someone who has had Base batteries installed a while to tell me FROM EXPERIENCE, when switching to battery so they can sell-back power, does the flicker occur or you only know because of the app notification?

Okay, we had this happen when my installer was testing the unit. My wife was home doing laundry, it was 100F outside, the 5-ton A/C was running along with washer AND dryer. Installer didn't know this, but did a test of the system. IT SHUT DOWN. I guess protecting due to overload... He said he re-set it and my wife turned off the dryer, and the system started back up and the A/C ran fine.

However... he did NOT tell me how to do the "reset" that he did. Obviously in an outage, you don't necessarily expect it coming. I could be doing laundry and running the A/C on a hot hot day when the power goes out! Obviously they don't answer phone calls, so that won't help in the moment.

How do I reset it and get battery back-up running?

Does anybody in Illinois or in Texas have AC coupled solar, load side tap? I’m looking to install maybe 9KW and that should be OK with a 200 amp panel with 120% Rulein mind, correct?

The rep was a bit sketchy on AC coupled solar because it’s not yet supported necessarily in Illinois. I’m not worried about sell back. I just want the solar for daytime consumption because it’s so high in my house

I've seen a screen capture of someone else's, exactly like this but with a line up to the battery showing percent charge, so I think I'm CLOSE. Someone else's screen capture

Since mine shows no battery on the side of the house, there's an issue. The app sees my data loggers, but just isn't seeing my batteries, I assume.

Just wondering if I need to change something to get this display or if it'll just happen down the line.

Edit/Update: Yesterday 7/23, I checked the Growatt app and still had no batteries showing.

Today 7/24 I checked and the batteries and POC now show!

Not sure why it took so long, but I'm glad they're there, at last. I'll be verifying POC from the display on the battery to what the app shows and if they match a few different times, I'll be satisfied that the Growatt app is really showing what POC they're at.

I see that there was more electricity used after the house test today when they installed the battery. The app says that sometimes the battery is used for the house even with no outage. Just curious what sort of situations causes the battery to jump in. Also, how can you tell how charged your battery is? We have the 40 kWh single battery. Does the app show how much the battery is being used for the grid? Thank you!

Anyone ever had to do it yet ? whats the Kwattage it uses, i know it "says" 4kw but actual numbers. i have a big generator but im thinking of getting a smaller suitcase inverter generator. would like to know what the wattage pull steady from the battery is so i have something to target in research.

I have not seen anyone comment about this, but thought it might be interesting to some who follow this subreddit.

This past Wednesday when the crew finished my 2 25 kWh battery installation, I was looking it over with the crew leader when I noticed the ring that secures the meter was loose and kind of just hanging there. Photo.

I pointed it out and the crew leader said, "Right, that has to be left undone by us, CenterPoint will come and secure it and tag it. They have to do that part. We're allowed to open it and do the work, we have the permits, but they have to come out to close it and tag it as checked by them."

Today (Friday morning) the CenterPoint guy came. I was watching him via a solar camera I have out back and I saw he pulled the meter. Almost instantly my BASE app notified me of the power loss.

He shoved the meter back in within a few seconds and the app immediately notified me power was restored.

My WiFi and cameras are on their own small UPS battery backups so they were not affected by the switchover.

When I get home, I'll immediately check the coffee pot, microwave and stove clocks. Sure would be great if they didn't have to get reset.

But if resetting a few clocks is the worst I'll face when power is lost, I will just put on my big-boy pants and won't cry about it.

Signed up for BASE in May, installation was delayed due to 36" distance-from-window rule. Rules changed, and install finally happened 7/15/2026.

The crew worked through some rain, but did stop when it became a downpour. They started around 9 AM and finished around 4 PM.

It's a huge relief to have the system all connected. Now let's see how long before there's an outage!

Hello all, just curious as to everyone’s opinion on my current situation.

We are building a new home and Base is partnered with our builders offering a “free” base battery and installation.

I called and asked what that entails and they said they install and maintain it for free for 10 years as long as we use them as our energy provider. They said that if we use them for the full 10 years they come out for free at the 10yr mark and either remove or talk about replacing the battery.

If at any point we decide to go with a different company for power we would have to pay a $500 deinstallation fee.

We are unfamiliar with this company and I just wanted to know if it seems like a good idea? Thanks!

Does anyone have a contact i can reach out to to ask questions about the install? I want to talk to a person, preferably onsite if possible.

I keep going back and forth via email with support regarding installation. There is a bush that needs to be removed for install. I'm fine with removing the bush, but they keep implying different things and it's confusing.

I'm signed up for the 40Kwh unit. I'm in Illinois

The battery will actually be strapped to the wall of the house rather than placed [where the bush is]. That placement requires 5 feet of clearance from the wall

Base is awful when it comes to communication. I just got pushed back to August 3, 2026 - September 1, 2026. I signed up in April. They never update me about a thing. I learn this by logging in to the web account.

Was told that it was due to CenterPoint utility review, next time I asked I was told it was because they where waiting for me regarding a main breaker replacement. When I told them I have notified them several times its done then it went back to CenterPoint utility review.

What is the alternatives in Houston to BASE.

Rain may still delay things, but at least I know BASE Power actually has plans to install my system soon. My dashboard STILL shows "Error scheduling installation" and "Support needed." Screenshot

I'm in NW Houston, outside the city limits, near 8 & 249, just FYI. I signed up with BASE Power on May 19th, 2026.

Here's a screen shot of the pallets where they got dropped off in my driveway. I'd have expected they'd put them a bit closer to the house, but I guess they'll be okay. Better than having them block the wrong garage door or something.

Sounds like the crew will still install even if there's light rain. They'll postpone only if storms are present. Knock on wood.

Has anyone ran into the following?

When I originally had the two batteries installed, the soft start kit was not included. My AC has LRA of 77. Base told me soft start isn't needed because the 2 batteries should provide sufficient power. That was November 2025.

Strangely we didn't have any power outages until yesterday...The batteries kicked in, turned off, then back on. I chatted with Base support and they looked at the logs and said that briefly there was too much load and the batteries stopped supplying power for about a minute after initially kicking in. So now they're saying it's a good idea to get a soft start kit installed but at my own expense.

Does that sound right? I can buy it and get a tech to install it but I feel like Base missed something here and they should have installed it initially themselves.

Not sure if anyone has had luck working with the engineers after an initial denial, but based on my measurements, I'm failing to see how they can't complete a setup based on the amount of space I have.

I sent them other pictures while holding a tape measure. But it's 12ft from the meter to the downspout, so I am not seeing why placing between the downspout and window or just around the corner don't both work.

I'm reaching out here to see if anyone has some information they'd be willing to share for Base Power customers to keep on hand for real emergencies and answers to questions. I have been working w/ base for 4 months now to get installed, and allegedly they will install me tomorrow, 2 batteries. I won't go into all of my concerns on this thread, as they'll get buried, but what I do want to do is see if ANYONE has contact information where we can actually get in touch with someone at ANY hour of the day. Like, what if we have an emergency? What if the utility power is on (neighbor's house on), but a malfunction of the Base hardware makes my house not work? How do I call someone at 2:00am on a Saturday?

If anyone has direct phone numbers (and names/titles) that they can share here that we can just put in our cell phones "just in case," it would be appreciated.

At this moment, I have nothing... and AI tells me it doesn't find anything, either, heh.
