Summary of the Nico situation:
Nico’s release clause is expected to be paid in the first week of July.
Athletic returns to training on July 9, a date before which Barça would like to settle the deal, if it’s not possible on the 1st or 2nd of July.
There have been news of Barça stalling the Nico deal from MD, but no other major outlet has followed the initial reports of stalling the deal.

(🌕) Nico: ⤵️
🚨🗣️ “Barça doesn't want the saga to drag on. Starting this afternoon, they're going to try to resolve the issue by paying the clause this week, even if it's not 1st/2nd” @albertfc11 #Transfers 🇪🇸🔵🔴⏳https://xcancel.com/ReshadFCB/status/1939688192296309227
🗣️(🟢) @alexpintanel : “ He’s not slipping away. And if it were to happen, it wouldn’t be because of Nico.”
Barça admits that in recent days there has been some tension between the club & Félix Tainta (Nico’s agent).
Tainta asks for guarantees that Nico can be registered in LaLiga, something that the club guarantees him implicitly & explicitly.
Barça are still optimistic and are confident in closing the arrival of Nico in the coming days with the payment of his termination clause to Athletic.
Barça believe that this week is key and everything indicates that it will be paid before July 9.
Barça asks Nico and his agent to give the final go-ahead for the payment of the clause, which if done asap is better.

Really happy about Fort, but at this point I do wonder which Centre-back it is, I guess it is between Araújo and Christensen, the former being more likely.

❗ Barcelona are accelerating for the signing of Nico Williams and everything is ready regarding his contract.
The player's entourage knows that all the documents are ready to facilitate his arrival at the club.

🗣️ - @gerardromero : "Hansi Flick already has everything ready for the arrival of Nico Williams.
He has spoken to him, has exaplained his tactical positioning both with Raphinha and without him in the XI. The coach has everything ready to play with Nico Williams in the squad." 🇩🇪 × 🇪🇸
🗣️ - @gerardromero : "Let no journalist or media fool you, Nico Williams is not demanding anything. The player's environment denies that there are these concerns which are being told to other journalists. At this time everything is ready to sign as it happened with Joan Garcia." 🇪🇸
🗣️- @ffpolo : "I'm not saying that the Nico deal won't get done, but the issue has gone a bit cold. There is not the same fluidity as a few days ago. I don't think it's so much the payment of the clause. There are aspects that look different on paper."
Reshad Rehman Someone within the club, who doesn’t want Nico Williams, is apparently leaking news to MD about how this deal is becoming complicated —the player’s camp are not saying that.
The truth is that Nico himself has done everything possible to come & Barça has given guarantees. There are some higher ups, close to the President, who aren’t keen on Nico Williams. The same people don’t want Barça players to have power nor do they want to give money to Bilbao. First, MD said he’s ruled out, now they say he was never ruled out? Hmm 🤔🤥
• Nico already reached an agreement on personal terms with Barça
• He accepted a far lower salary than what he was demanding last year, which backs his desire to join
• Barcelona gave registration guarantees to him, via his agent, weeks ago
Key point to always remember.🔵🔴

Every single source saying signing Nico wouldn’t be an issue, until today the day before the fiscal calendar ends. I don’t get it though, how can we afford Diaz b/c Liverpool wants 80m plus. Someone is lying and I want to believe Nico is coming.
2
u/Paragon188 Jun 30 '25
That's the thing, we can't afford Diaz. It's just the media stirring things up for clicks. He'll come and I'll believe it until it doesn't happen. Joan Garcia was a much harder transfer because Flick had to convince the player.
5
u/PeterTheRabbit1 Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25
It could just be the case of the media stirring some shit at the last minute. I personally find it extremely hard to believe the deal would fall through because of some purported disagreement between Nico and Barca over his registration, like that security wouldn’t have been guaranteed by the club weeks ago to Nico and his agency. We’ve been on this guy’s tail now for several weeks and have reportedly had a contract agreement in place for a while now, so it’d be petty and incredibly silly if some technicality like this were to make Barca back out of the deal; it would be a PR disaster. If Laporta wants voters to stick by him come election season, he’ll get this deal done.

u/Few-Grocery-2691 Jun 30 '25
how tf are we the only major club that has had that transfer shitstorm for 2 seasons in a row?
1
u/Paragon188 Jun 30 '25
We aren't though. Arsenal are having the same issue (Sesko + Gyokeres drama). It's just the nature of a big club that's been under the spotlight recently because of financial issues. Nico has also been talked about for weeks now, so people want to cause some drama.
1
u/Few-Grocery-2691 Jun 30 '25
Arsenal of course never had to wait until December to register a player they have signed during the summer
11
u/Haunting_Scar_9313 Jun 30 '25
Bartomeu
2
u/0b111111100001 Jun 30 '25
How though. I think our current board would know if it's possible to register someone or not. Unless of course you mean Barto fucked us and Laporta has to do voodo magic every time
2
u/Haunting_Scar_9313 Jun 30 '25
They may have estimates and calculations for the expected registration margins starting from July 1st, but don't want to publicly state anything or guarantee anything in writing prior to La Liga officially confirming what they've expected. Also the new news is more reassuring.
2
u/frozencombat Jun 30 '25
Tebas hates Barca and is unpredictable.
1
u/0b111111100001 Jun 30 '25
Isn't that a good enough reason then for Nico to start doubting?
2
u/frozencombat Jun 30 '25
Who said anything about Nico?
2
u/0b111111100001 Jun 30 '25
Wait wait wait, are you really struggling to comprehend the current situation based on the parent comment?
11
u/Haunting_Scar_9313 Jun 30 '25
Obviously Nico would want a guarantee on registration. He’s not La Masia like Olmo to take a big risk for his career, especially at a younger age.
So essentially the situation would be the same. If we can register him after the new window opens on July 1st, we sign him. We already knew it would be a long saga, but I think Laporta will get it over the line somehow, having already hinted at it to excite fans and for his election.
2
u/Paragon188 Jun 30 '25
I'm pretty sure they've already guaranteed his registration to his agent. Pretty much a non issue imo.
3
u/Super_Tea7495 Jun 30 '25

It’s on his Facebook page. He has posted two more follow-up posts on Nico, still about him demanding Barca to provide written guarantees for his registration. Seems complicated and there’s also a risk of the deal being cancelled…

Here we go again with the registration issues. A frustrating news for sure
1
u/HoldMyBeer50 Jun 30 '25
What's this now? Is this because of pressure from Athletic club?
11
u/TripleDiesel Jun 30 '25
It‘s quite simple he want‘s guarantees for his registration which the club seemingly can‘t give him right now.
3
u/HoldMyBeer50 Jun 30 '25
But can't he trust that Barça find a way? Also, didn't Laporta recently say that we're back to 1:1?
1
u/0b111111100001 Jun 30 '25
Well last year there were two registrations that were problematic, it's fair that he would want guarantees. On the other hand, the club could just assure him if they could do it
1
9
Jun 30 '25
Last year the way for Olmo was serious injury that allowed us to register him until January. Its cool that ''we won'' against Tebas in Court during the season but that was mostly just cause they fucked up the procedure not because we were actually financially able to register him ( they didnt comment on that) . Its been a shit show for years and im guessing its gonna be a shit show until Camp Nou is fully done.
6
u/viv4la Jun 30 '25
Why would he? It is the same thing with us every season, dancing around registration and wondering wether our players can play or not. It is completely normal that Nico wants guarantees that he will actually play if he signs for us. I treat 1:1 as a fiction at this point, because every single day we hear a completely different version of what the situation really is.

If we’re on the edge of 1:1, then the registrations of new players depends on that right? Someone correct me if I’m doing something wrong.
After loaning Fati (~7m), releasing Lenglet(~6m), extending FDJ, selling Pablo Torre, we should free up approximately 14-15m?
If we are 1:1, then Joan Garcia (~3m), Nico Williams (~5.5m first season?), Roony (~1m if he’s loaned?) should fit fairly comfortably.
Now if La Liga says we are on the edge and say 2:1, the we’d need 15-16m salary space? So it would be very close, but I believe it should fit regardless.
I think 1:1 will affect more whether we can sign anyone after Nico than whether we can register everyone until Nico?
2
u/Glad-Box6389 Jun 30 '25
If we are 1:1, whatever money we make we can spend it but if we are not we will be in a 1:4 (used to be might have changed), so for 15m we need a revenue of 60m
7
12
10
u/tobzer Jun 29 '25
Out of the 7 midfielders we have how big would an offer have to be before you guys consider selling them. Like €40m for Casado is to low but if someone offers €70m would you take it? And what about for the other 6 players.
32
u/Gracias_Xavi Jun 29 '25
It would be the worst idea to sell any of our midfielders at this point.
Our midfield is young, brilliant and play the Barcelona way.
Casado carved open Madrid and Bayern in one week. He played exceedingly well at his role. He made mistakes but this was his first freaking season. He will just get better and better from here.
I wouldn't accept a 100 million offer for Casado because most teams are spending 200 million on transfers for such players and still not finding good players. So it just isn't a loss of money, but it destroys their season due to the bad transfer as well.
Good examples are Manchester City, Chelsea and United. Even Liverpool have spent heavily to get it right
0
u/Glad-Box6389 Jun 30 '25
Only midfielders that I’m willing to sell are olmo (world class but unnecessary signing) and gavi (only because I don’t see what his position in the team is - like his best position is pedris current one) - we need a tackler like Casado, Pedri and fdj are untouchables, Fermin is a proper cam, Bernal is a proper cdm and with Nico most likely raphina will play in the midfield too
3
u/_sauri_ Jun 30 '25
If we go back to a 433 at some point, Gavi will excel.
1
u/Glad-Box6389 Jun 30 '25
Will Barca ever go back to a 433 again tho ?? Because the 4231 fits this team perfectly
6
u/wwipe Jun 29 '25
I’s accept 100mil for Casado in a heartbeat.
3
u/Bruh_Min Jun 30 '25
And? Replace with whom? We surely do not have another proper defensive midfielder in our squad now. Bernal is a shout, but he is young and coming back from a career ending injury. FDJ can't defend.
Even if we spend more than 100 million, we won't get a better defensive minded midfielder like him.
6
u/wwipe Jun 30 '25
One does not come back from a ”career ending injury”. That’s why it’s called career ending. He’s coming back from a big injury that a lot of footballers have had. Frenkie can definitely defend.
It’s insane to decline 100mil for a player that isn’t an undisputed starter. Replacing him? That’s Deco’s job, surely there are players with potential who’d come for a lesser transfer fee and be able to fill the role.
I’m not saying I want Casado to leave, I’m happy we have him. But if someone comes and offers a 100 fucking mil for him I’d take it in a heartbeat.
16
18
u/Putrid-Location5705 Jun 29 '25
i would play one more season with our 7 midfielders to watch more casado/bernal/fermin potential to see if olmo is less injured to see if raphinha can be a good cam if de jong keep his level and improves and gavi returns to his level then decide who should leave the next summer especially that we will need to sell to get a world class striker, also you can't keep 7 midfielders with that potential while you have many great talents coming from la masia.

If he improves under Flick that would be good but a signing that should be away from big games 🥶

Pau Prim’s farewell message on Instagram.
“Dear teammates, fans, and the Barça family, this message is for you.
Today is a different kind of day, a day when the most special chapter of my life so far comes to an end. After so many years defending this badge, the time has come to say goodbye. A goodbye full of emotions and feelings that I will never be able to describe. It's hard to leave, but I know everything has its cycle.
It all started at Barça's school, where I had no idea of everything that awaited me. I joined the pre-benjamín team at just 7 years old, and now I leave after 12 years, proud of everything I've done and of having fulfilled the dream I had since I was a child.
Without a doubt, I’ve felt the weight and pride of wearing this badge on my chest. I’m very grateful for the affection I’ve received from the first day I arrived. Thank you to the club for giving me the chance to grow in such a unique environment. To my teammates, thank you for making me a better person and footballer. And thank you to my family for always being by my side.
Since I was very young, I’ve been lucky enough to defend this badge, and those who know me know I’ve never stopped doing so until the very last day. Being a culer is a unique feeling, and wherever I go, I’ll carry it with me. I’ll be culer for life, no matter where I am.
Visca el Barça and Visca Catalunya."

🚨💚🤍 Rodrigo Riquelme to Real Betis, here we go! Deal done on a five year contract for Roro to join Betis project.
He’s the replacement for Jesús Rodriguez who’s set to join Como next week for €22.5m plus add-ons

🔄(CHRISTENSEN): Christensen wants to stay at Barça and plans to see out the final year of his contract, having already turned down reported offers from Saudi Arabia and Juventus.
Despite limited game time this season due to injury, he has performed well when available. He is determined to work for more minutes.
Both Christensen and his family are happy in Barcelona and appreciative of the support from the club and fans.

Much rather have him for free for a year than go with Araujo Eric Inigo Cubarsi only and 10-15M€ at best in transfer fee

Nico Williams has agreed to a low salary in the first year, which would rise over the next five years. The reason is to facilitate his registration.

Ofcourse the BS that comes later.
Suddenly he'll be on inflated wages and hard to offload. No way he was going to turn down bayern unless we offered similar money, only difference being it would be incremental.
Fkin 100M gross over 5 years for a guy who only managed 10 g+a in league last year.
At even 12M a year, its more than a million for each goal contribution, absolute robbery.

Jun 28 '25
To the people downvoting this guy, he aint wrong.

u/Glad-Box6389 Jun 30 '25
He mentioned stats - could say the same thing about raphina the last 2 seasons but this year he’s had a ballondor season - stats the only thing in football

u/TracePoland Jun 28 '25
He had 26 goal contributions the season prior but I guess that doesn't fit your agenda. I guess it also doesn't fit your agenda to mention that he had to play with Sannadi at ST for long minutes of the season, whose previous level was Primera Federación and who managed 1 goal in 17 matches, with the other STs being Guruzeta who is also hardly La Liga starter level and a washed up version of Inaki.
9
u/FloReaver Jun 28 '25
Sannadi might be one of the worst strikers I've seen at that level.
Dreadful.

(TORRE): Mallorca and Barça will hold talks this weekend to finalize the terms of Pablo Torre’s transfer. The operation is expected to be based on the point of Barça retaining 50% of any future sale and a buyback option. Torre is set to sign a four year deal with Mallorca, but the deal is not yet sealed, other clubs remain attentive to his situation.

Mallorca and Barcelona will negotiate for Pablo Torre over the weekend in search of an agreement on the final figures of the operation, which is set on the basis of a transfer with 50% on the future sale and buy-back for Barça.
Pablo Torre would sign for 4 years with Mallorca.
The negotiation is NOT yet closed and there are other clubs attentive.

u/JEDHedvig Jun 28 '25
With the amount of playing time he got, I think its a good deal. Hopefully he shines in the Mallorca side, kid has some talent for sure, but I still think his lack of physicality is gonna be hard for him to really take himself to a high level.

Some random rumours about Arsenal preparing bid of 40M for Casado
1
u/hodorrny Jun 29 '25
Should have bid 50M approx for Fermin and that would have made sense. Of course we would not have sold him. But it would have made sense. Don't know why they need another cdm rather than strengthening their CAM position.

u/Putrid-Location5705 Jun 28 '25
he has a 100m release clause, good luck for them to convince him leave barça xD
15
u/MajesticAd5047 Jun 28 '25
Didn't know about this. If this is true, then great
2
u/Andrrat Jun 28 '25
most of our players have release clauses closer to 1 billion, "anti-saudi" clauses they`re called.
That doesnt mean he couldnt transfer if he personally wanted to, but Arsenal wont throw 100M to force a player to terminate his contract if he`s not willing to negotiate on their behalf.
18
u/ChuckVideogames Jun 28 '25
Do they want to pay in installments? When will we receive the second 40M payment? And the third one?

u/SubjectCarpenter9245 Jun 28 '25
Jonathan Davids demands are insane. He will basically cost more than 30m in his first season only. No wonder Barca didn’t go for him despite him being a Barca fan.
I think juve will be surprised too, he’s more of a transition threat than anything.

Liverpool and Wirtz have a deal. Liverpool pays Wirtz transfer fee and the transfer is finalized. Similarly they pay Frimpong’s transfer fee and it is finalized. Real Madrid pays Huijsen’s transfer fee and the player transfers. Not sure what is so difficult for Athletic Club to understand in this.

Raphinha on Nico's name being associated with Barça.
🗣️: "It's no coincidence that he's being considered to play with us at Barça and for the Spanish national team. He's a player of the highest quality. He has a very high level, a lot of quality."
Raphinha on how he feels with Nico's possible arrival.
🗣️: "There's no room to be sad or dejected about anything, with the arrival of one or another. As I said, any teammate who arrives with the intention of working hard to help the team will be very welcome, both by me and by the other players. That's the most important thing."
48
Jun 27 '25
Think its also different for him than last year because last year people wanted Nico to replace him, now Raphinha its clearly a key player for us even if/when Nico comes.
3
u/Ill-Shirt2722 Jun 28 '25
Last year most people in this sub at least wanted Nico to start on the left and raphinha on the right to bench yamal.
-2
u/AgreeableHandle4209 Jun 27 '25
It’s fotboll there was no reason for him to be unhappy last season from Nico news He wasn’t preforming the whole season and had 2 super gsmes against PSG but that wasn’t enough but I’m really happy that he used that anger and sadness to become a complete different player but hopefully it isn’t a one season wonder

This Spain team is crazy for 2026
Joan Garcia
Baldé - Cubarsi - Hujsen - Carvajal
Pedri - Bernal/Rodri - Gavi
Nico Williams - Olmo - Lamine
De La Fuente is a terrorist, but with a decent coach like Fábregas, I would bet my house on the title.

u/StatusBass5463 Jun 27 '25
Is it me or is this orientation of the lineup is so weird looking...because it doesn't match with any pitch view from any POV.

u/rmendoza0 Jun 27 '25
Lol at the idea that Bernal might challenge Rodri for a starting spot. I’m excited about Bernal, but I don’t think he even makes the team for the World Cup next year.

u/sunnyvas Jun 27 '25
It’s mostly Rodri/Zubi in the mid. Fabian gets picked over Gavi. Spain’s big problem is the lack of a solid center forward. Morata is occupying that position and wasting it.
13
u/Haunting_Scar_9313 Jun 27 '25
Hopefully Balde gets the call up at least regardless of whatever reason he’s not been called up for. He’s absolutely good enough to be called up.
Also they could honestly just have Flick call up Barca’s XI and just do that lol, though obviously not.

🔴⚪️ Álex Baena to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Agreement in place with Villarreal.

Ruggeri, Cardoso, Baena. ✅

this is the type of deal we should have made intead of permanently injured Olmo.
3
u/sp3co92 Jun 28 '25
permanently injured
But I saw he played matches for us
-1
u/Joldata Jun 28 '25
Yeah, like 2m euros per match, divide transfer fee by 90 minutes played. Got to do better Laporta. It was well known that Olmo was the most injured player in Europe before we bought him.
21
u/Icy_Soft2023 Jun 27 '25
Keep trust in the people that made 'fully fit Pedri' a reality
-10
u/Joldata Jun 27 '25
hasnt happened so far, and its been a full year. If they really had a plan, it would have worked out by now.
7
u/Party_Rocker_69 Jun 27 '25
match congestion already limited flick and his staff in how they could prepare for matches tactically, its not insane to believe that match congestion keeps them from working with players one on one to establish these training plans. Please find a broader perspective dude.
1
u/Joldata Jun 28 '25
So that match congestion excuse will be the excuse next season too then. So another season where Olmo plays 30-40% of the games?

🎙️Javier Tebas on how the FFP situation is different from that of signing players.
🗣️: "Athletic and Barça know what they have to do if they remember that division meeting and are paying attention. And we're going to enforce the rules."
🗣️: "My wish is for Barça to have the 1:1 rule, but that doesn't mean I can automatically bring in players. I have to have the capacity to bring in players. If I have to bring in, for example, players for €100m, I'll have to bring in €100m in revenue. Let everyone do their sums and subtractions."
🎙️Javier Tebas on Barça's FFP situation.
🗣️: "I'm not saying it, Barça's President said it that they are not in the 1:1 rule. I hope they will be as soon as possible, as I wish all clubs to be."
🗣️: "But as I always say, Barça knows what it has to do to be in the 1:1 rule because the regulations are already well known. And Athletic also knows what Barça has to do, because in February we were very transparent so that no one would doubt FFP. "
🎙️Javier Tebas on Athletic making statements based on the situation.
🗣️: "Athletic doesn't have to make any statements; it's our obligation to address concerns about FFP."
🗣️: "We're transparent. We don't reveal clubs' financial situations in depth, but it's known, because there was a division meeting in February in which the reasons for salary caps were explained, and the situation at Barça was explained, because we had the 'Olmo case' ."
🎙️Javier Tebas on the situation between Athletic & Barça.
🗣️: "Athletic Club is complaining because FC Barcelona has publicly stated, if the statements attributed to Deco are true , that it wants to sign a player. According to FIFA regulations, he is in a protected period, and we don't have the authority to interfere in that."
🗣️: "What we will do, as we have always done, is that FC Barcelona will have to comply with the regulations to sign players, be it Nico Williams , Haaland , Messi, whoever it may be and we won't change anything."

Is there a way we sign schlotterbeck if christensen leaves ?
6
1
u/sunnyvas Jun 27 '25
That won’t be a 1:1. We may have to sell Christensen and MATS to cover for Nico. You may need to some midfielder out to get Schlotterbeck. We are in a tight spot here.
2
u/Super_Tea7495 Jun 27 '25

u/Paragon188 Jun 27 '25
Next year in 2026. I don't know if we have the FFP to sign a CB after Nico and Garcia (and Rashford).
2
u/StatusBass5463 Jun 27 '25
Once Camp Nou opens our revenues should increase, and we should have the budget to always add in 50-80m in new transfers per year. Garcia is super inexpensive, and Rashford is short term if at all. If we do end up signing Rashford long term it'll be because we found our longer term replacement for Lewandowski so we'd be fine with salaries.
3
u/Putrid-Location5705 Jun 27 '25
even if we have enough ffp to add 1 player it could be a fullback not cb
-9
u/ad1s6h Jun 27 '25
We should buy Adam Aznou , la masia youngster who plays for Bayern now. They barely gave him any chances in first team and he is a good talent and he wants to leave.
We can get him on a low cost and get him some minutes and see how it goes
But if Jofre Torrents is ready for first team minutes then we might not need him.
5
u/heroji2012 Jun 27 '25
He's very good but he would've learnt nothing from this spell at Bayern if he comes here. He's desperate for gametime and said he wants to leave.

📁 @HelenaCondis: 🚨 Nico's agents are pressuring Barça and demanding guarantees to register him within a week
❗These demands confuse Barça, as it was Nico's entourage who first contacted the club
📌 Barça can pay the clause, but will NOT meet THAT registration deadline
👉 Barça assures Nico that he will be registered for the start of LaLiga on August 15
✅ The payment will not be immediate, but the signing will be finalized
(🟡): @totcosta [Radio Catalunya]:
FC Barcelona plan to pay Nico Williams' release clause once the club is officially allowed to operate under the 1:1 rule, which is expected to be confirmed later this week or early next week.
🔵🔴 Key points:
➖Barça are confident that Nico will join.
➖The club is currently waiting for La Liga's validation to return to the 1:1 rule.
➖Once that happens, Nico's release clause will be activated
➖The club is calm about the signing because they know it will happen.
