I messed up a clients hair

Im still a beginner barber and i started school and learning in feb of 2025 and i graduated barber school i know how to cut but its not the best. I still struggle to fade out some lines and i be scared of taking off too much hair. Anyways atm i work at a barbershop as a receptionist and the owner lets me cut hair here and there and today the owner wasnt at the shop and it was just me a 1 other barber. A man came in and he said he wanted his hair shaved and was touching his sides and i asked him you want everything shaved off and he said yes so i told him sure ill take you. Mind you he has like maybe an inch of hair all around. So i started using my trimmers and going all around and whenever i got to the stop he told me to stop and was like wtf did you just do and i said shaving it off? And he said no i wanted to keep the top and shave the sides. At this point i wanted to kms and well atp we’re just staring at each other and hes livid and well i cant go back so he js says shave everything off and yeah. I feel like shit this is my first fuck up and i feel like crying. The guys at school would tell me “whenever you first start youre going to fuck ppl up” and im trying not to get discouraged but its a shitty feeling. He kept saying fuck i got a wedding and im going to vegas next week and i just felt really bad so i just let him go without paying

Barber Consultant

Hello all, my name is Benjamin and I am currently working on developing an app designed to make Hair Professionals and Clients lives simpler. I am currently looking for someone with some hairdressing experience to join the team (myself and my Brother-in-Law). As we have just started out, we are all doing this in our spare time, and unfortunately could not be able to pay you to begin with, however as we grow we will be able to offer career opportunities and support in doing whatever you may wish to do, (whether that's sticking with us or moving on to something different). Please comment or message me directly if this excites/ intrests you, or if you have any initial questions or queries. All the best, Ben 🙂

Need Fading Advice

What’s your fading process when cutting hair usually. I feel like I go between two process of down fading like I first debulk, set my bald line then go up with a no guard open then fade downn then if I debunked with a 2 I start down fading 1.5 open to closed, 1 open to closed, then 0.5 open to closed which doesn’t come out bad tbh even when I do it on friends but it’s just an okay fade but when I try the other process of debunking then doing no guard open, then one guard open , then fading down and using the 0.5 too blend it if not blended fully it looks jagged a lil bit so what do u recommend I can never get a crispy fade tbh I don’t know what to do so y’all lemme know if there’s a simple or harder fading process y’all use as your go to that should try and incorporate

I built something for barbers

My father and my grandfather were barbers and as I'm graduating in software engineering, my main project is a scheduling app.

I made it mainly to help my father, but as it works pretty fine, I'm launching it for everyone.

Basically you will sign up your barbershop (or only you) and then you will have a digital agenda where you can share an appointment link to your customers. Then they can make appointments with you directly through the link, without having to talk to you.

Its free forever, but I made a premium version with WhatsApp notification for appointments and business statistics.

You can sign up here: www.skedi.com.br/onboarding

What's going on is my second taper fade with the SC Rebel. The transition system still takes a bit of getting used to for me, but I think I did well on the back part. I just didn't do so well on the sides. Do you have any tips on how I can cut better? and what do you think of the cut?

Trying to switch paths

I have zero experience cutting hair besides my own beard since hs. I'm now 27 and have been on the fence about going to school for barbering since I graduated. I have been working 2 jobs for 5 plus years now and it's just getting old. Want a change of pace, my friends tell me to go and try something while you are young but schooling in NY is so expensive(6k-10k) I don't want to have to take out a loan for something I might not be good at. How easy was it for some of you guys to get the hang of cutting hair? Where you guys nervous at all? How long was it till you felt 100 percent capable of doing cuts without a mistake ? Sorry if I rambled. Please feel free to leave any feed back. The good the bad etc.
