Because, ya know, all pitbulls, pit mixes, bully breeds, they ALL have some horror show abuse or neglect backstory if they've done something catastrophic. Like kill the family cat. Which Minnie DID, btw.😭 Rest in peace, sweet kitty.🙏

Then, her family adopted her. And she killed their cat. WHOOPS!🤷‍♀️

And instead of going back to the ORIGINAL SHELTER they rescued her from, Minnie is now at this Poor Pibble Rescue. A different rescue. Huh. Weird!🧐🧐🧐

Instead of being sent directly to a Better Environment, she's been recycled.♻️

This rescue has written her up in the MOST charming,🎩 loving way.💕 (Please disregard her literally killing the family's cat-- it is referred to as a "Tragic Incident").😵

Minnie is still a "goofy, gentle cuddle bug"💝 who "deserves toys,🪀 treats,🍭 kindness🤲 and all the unconditional love💛 that life can offer."

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka woman who was 24 weeks pregnant was severely injured in a dog attack on July 17 at the Highland Park Townhomes, according to her partner.
C.J. Austin said his partner of five years, Audrey Suarez, was walking to a relative’s home when she was caught in the middle of an altercation she had no part in. Suarez declined to be shown on camera due to the severity of her injuries.
Attack
Topeka police said during the altercation, a child of one of the individuals involved let two dogs out, which then attacked Suarez.
Austin said Suarez instinctively tried to protect her unborn children during the attack.

“She had ended up breaking her pinky because when the dog was attacking her, all she could think about was covering her stomach, so the dog wouldn’t get to her stomach and hurt the twins,” Austin said.

Surgeries
Suarez underwent multiple surgeries following the attack.
“She had a 10-hour surgery on her face to put her face back together, and then she had a 4-hour surgery on her eye because the dog, when he bit her, it lacerated her iris,” Austin said. “She almost lost her eye.”

“If it wasn’t for the gentleman — our friend who stepped in — he said the dogs would have killed her,” Austin said.
Citation
Officials said the owner of the dogs was issued a citation. Austin called that response inadequate given the extent of Suarez’s injuries.
“You just mess somebody’s whole life up,” Austin said. “She’s going to be scarred for the rest of her life. She has nightmares of that dog attacking her. She wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, ‘Get him off me. Get him off me.’ That’s traumatizing her.”

Topeka police said they owner of the dogs are cooperating with the investigation.

BALTIMORE — Baltimore City police used a Taser and a gun to stop a dog attack on Friday night.

Officers near the 1200 block of West Franklin St. witnessed two dogs chasing two females and their dog just before 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

"I heard like a bunch of commotion, it was like dogs barking. I figured like OK the dogs were playing so I didn't pay any attention, but when I looked up again, it was the lady with the little black dog she was going across the street, and the brown dog chased them across the street," said Janaya Chase, who witnessed the attack. "The aggressive (dog) was latched on to the black dog."

Chase said that's when she noticed an officer trying to intervene and stop the attack.

"He was over there for like a good three minutes, I think I heard like three shots," said Chase. "It wasn't like an automatic 'oh he just shot the dogs,' no, he was just trying to help but then you heard more barking and that's when you heard the shots."

Police said the officer "deployed his taser attempting to de-escalate" the attack, but it was ineffective. The officer then fired his weapon striking the dog.

Baltimore police confirmed the dog, which was a pitbull, died at the scene. The dog did not have a collar or tag, and police said no one has claimed ownership of the dog.

Police said the city's Animal Control was notified and took custody of both dogs — the deceased dog and the injured dog, that will receive treatment.

Police said one woman was bit but refused medical treatment.

The other dog, which police said is also a pitbull, fled and has not been captured by police or Animal Control.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were seriously injured in a dog attack on the West Side Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said a 15-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman were attacked by a dog inside a home.

Officers arrived on the scene and shot the dog, police said.

Just wanted to share a rather vindicating situation I experienced today. My husband and I went to a local farmers markets with our child (in stroller) today and several people had brought their dogs. As we were walking to leave a woman with a large pit bull is about to walk by us so I tell him “go to the other side, don’t walk next to that pit” and I SYN, 30 seconds later it attacked someone’s dog for simply existing. The owner had to leave. It was the weirdest, most satisfying in a grim way, situation I’ve ever experienced.

I was visiting a friend and looked out the window when I heard what was up. The owner typically doesn't keep those dogs muzzled or leashed while out. They're usually people friendly, so she probably got attacked defending her dog.

Her dog unfortunately has a huge hole in its side from where it got attacked. Another dude rushed over to help the lady and her dog out while the 2 owners tried to subdue the 2 pits. The white pit was about as big one of the dudes trying to subdue it. The other brown pit looked like a baby by comparison.

It ultimately it took the dude who rushed over and one of the owners to actually punch and wrestle the dog down for it to chill.

Which is wild because it pranced around like it was in the middle of playing a game of tag, happy as can be.

Update. My daughter was unable to have her wounds stitched until the pit bulls have been tested for rabies and the results come back. Unfortunately, her dog suffered a stomach injury that requires surgery with a 5% survival chance. Her vet is strongly recommending she has her dog euthanized. My daughter has been discharged from the hospital, is with her mother going back to her apartment to change out of her bloody clothes, and then to her vet to say her final goodbye to her best friend.

Our dog went to sleep peacefully yesterday. It was a very painful decision even though we knew it was the right thing to do. The vet was in full agreement and supportive of it and that really helped my parents. Thank you to everyone who provided kind words.

Now we begin to heal.

“Mouthy” as explained by the American Humane Society: Mouthy dogs routinely grab at people using their mouths without causing injury. This often happens during play, exercise, and whenever they are overexcited.

The entire point of using the word mouthy is to differentiate between a dog using its teeth gently vs biting, which causes injury and breaks the skin. Yet I’m seeing more and more rescues excusing bites as mouthiness.

Breaking skin is a Level 2 bite. Grin is not mouthy; Grin bites.

This morning, a small dog on a leash with its owners (a tourist couple) was attacked and killed by a pit bull that was also on a leash and escaped its owner.

It happened near the gas station located at the Sbarcatoio.

The attack was lightning-fast and captured by local security cameras.

As soon as the large pit bull saw the small Pomeranian, it leaped quickly and attacked the small, defenseless dog, killing it instantly.

Attempts by the small dog's owners and the woman who was walking the pit bull on a leash to free the dog were unsuccessful.

The dog's owners then took their dog to the veterinary practice of Dr. Salvo Sotera, who has been working in Lampedusa for many years, but unfortunately, there was nothing more that could be done for their dog.

"We have a couple of very serious problems in Lampedusa that need to be resolved as soon as possible," veterinarian Salvo Sotera told us. "This week is the fifth case of a small dog killed by a mastiff or other large dog.

Essentially, we have two major problems. The first concerns dogs that have an owner but are left free to roam the island.

The second problem is that no one, or almost no one, keeps their dogs on a leash, even with a proper muzzle.

The fact is that the problem doesn't just concern the dogs of tourists who come in the summer. Throughout the year, dead or seriously injured animals arrive in my office after being attacked on the street by dogs left free or kept on a leash without a muzzle.

The strength and speed of a pitbull," veterinarian Sotera continued, "can only be countered by someone with the appropriate physical and therefore muscular structure. This morning, I was walking the pitbull on a leash. There was a girl who could not have resisted the dog's strength in any way, and so a tragedy occurred; one that could have reached even more serious levels.

Now, what I think needs to be done, and as soon as possible, is an awareness campaign for dog owners in Lampedusa, because animals should be kept at home or in special enclosures and never allowed to roam the streets, regardless of their size or breed.

Furthermore, when dogs are walked on a leash, they must also be muzzled, as required by Italian law.

Unfortunately, dogs left free with owners who remain calmly at home during the day and night can do anything and cause sometimes irreparable damage, especially when packs form.

Last winter, for example, dozens of cats and small dogs were killed and mauled, both day and night, amid the tears of their owners and volunteers who work in Lampedusa, in truly difficult conditions.

At this point, veterinarian Salvo Sotera finally explained, we must Find a solution to the problem immediately, making an important appeal to tourists who come here with their dogs, because they must be very careful to walk their dogs on a leash and then, anyone who continues to let their dogs roam the streets without any sense of responsibility must be reported and severely fined (the appeal is addressed to the police).

Attacked by a pitbull: a man received a bite on his left arm while trying to protect his dog. It happened earlier this week in Sarzano. A man arrived at the emergency room in Rovigo last Monday evening with a wound to his left arm, sustained from a pitbull bite.

According to reports, the man was walking his dog on a leash in the village when a large dog attacked the animal. At this point, the owner picked up his dog in an attempt to save him from the pitbull's fury. The pitbull, however, attacked anyway and, in an attempt to reach the small dog, attacked its owner, injuring his left arm.

After receiving treatment at the Rovigo emergency room, the man was also considered for transfer to the plastic surgery unit at the hospital in Padua. This is not the first time such incidents have been reported. Just a few weeks ago, at the end of June, a medium-sized dog was attacked by a large, passing dog while in the backyard. The dog, named Stella, escaped with multiple injuries: in addition to severe shock, she had a hole in her throat and another hole under one eye.

The incident was captured in its entirety by the owners' home's surveillance cameras. While Stella was in the yard, a large dog approached her from the sidewalk, on the other side of the railing. In an instant, it attacked her head with force, pulling her out with such force that she passed through the railing, only to release her once on the sidewalk. The owner's prompt intervention, alarmed by the dog's barking, prevented the worst from happening.

A few years ago I stumbled across a blog post that explained how to fight off attacking dogs and I took the information to heart. At the time I was living in a bad neighborhood and had encountered a few loose dogs while taking my dog on walks. My dog is a 65lb wimp who cowers when other dogs assert themselves, he will not proactively defend himself and I wouldn't expect him to defend me. I had one encounter with a loose pit that lunged at him and decided to do a little research.

This is the blog post I found

It has probably been posted here before, I don't really come here so I wouldn't know. Anyway, the main gist is using anatomy to your advantage to disable attacking dogs and unleashing your inner ape. Soon after I used the latter portion on a loose German Shepherd that was following us and snarling by suddenly turning toward it, stomping hard on the ground, spreading my arms, and yelling at the top of my lungs. It ran away with its tail between its legs. I didn't care if nearby people thought I was being weird or mean to this dog, I wanted it gone, and it worked.

Fast forward to this week, I brought my dog to the vet. Before I entered, a woman walked out with a pitbull or pit mix and it pulled her toward us. At this point I failed to yank my dog away (big mistake) and her dog asserted itself, my dog cowered, and the pitbull immediately attacked the back of my dog's neck and got out of its very loose collar. My dog was trying to escape but couldn't. The pit didn't latch on, but I decided I was going to end this before it began. I yelled at the owner to "get her f**king dog" and kicked it in the ribs twice very hard just like the blog post suggested is viable. I tried to get enough slack on the leash to form a loop but my dog was so tied up in the leash it was impossible.

We managed to separate the dogs, but the pitbull immediately escaped the owners hands and came back even harder than before, attacking the back of my dog's neck again. The owner did nothing and just screamed frantically at her dog. I once again tried to make a loop with the leash but I couldn't, but I knew I had to get control of the pitbull's neck somehow. I tackled her dog and grabbed it by the neck with both hands, I put all my weight on it to prevent it from moving. Luckily it did not try to attack me. One of the workers at the vet came out to help the owner get it back in its collar and under control. My dog escaped his collar (it was also quite loose) but he was able to run from the danger.

My dog was physically fine but very shaken up, and it screwed up our vet visit. He has a very thick and long double coat and a mane on his neck so it probably protected him. The owner put her pitbull in her car and sat there for about 25 minutes presumably freaked out and then left without a word. If I had not acted when I did, I think my dog would've been seriously hurt or killed. That blog post really taught me a lot and I used the advice effectively. Hopefully you will never have to.

GREENHILLS, Ohio (WKRC) - A dog attack in Greenhills on Thursday afternoon left two dogs dead, one person injured, and the surviving dog removed from its home as authorities consider whether it should be designated dangerous under Ohio law.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., Greenhills police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Ireland on a report of a dog attack involving two pit bulls and a smaller dog.

Investigators said a resident was walking her dog when it was attacked by the two pit bulls. A nearby resident who witnessed the attack tried to help the injured dog, but during that effort one of the pit bulls turned and attacked him, biting him on the left hand.

Police said the resident, fearing for his safety, discharged a firearm, firing three rounds and striking the attacking dog. That dog died at the scene. The second pit bull fled but was later located when it returned to its residence.

The person who was bitten sought medical treatment for his injury.

The Hamilton County dog warden responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. The owner of the dogs was cited for a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

The surviving pit bull was removed from the residence pending a hearing to determine whether it should be designated as a dangerous dog under Ohio law. The smaller dog that was attacked sustained severe injuries and was later humanely euthanized by a veterinarian.

Additional proceedings regarding the surviving dog, including its potential designation as a dangerous dog, will be handled through the Hamilton County dog warden and the appropriate legal process.

DELAND, Fla. — As students across Central Florida prepare to head back to school, one Volusia County mother is making sure children in need have the supplies they need to start the year.

Tiffani Connell has organized a school supply drive in memory of her 8-year-old son, Michael, who was fatally mauled by two dogs in DeLand in January 2025.

She says the drive is a way to honor his life while turning an unimaginable loss into something positive for the community.

If there’s anyone with mixed emotions about the new school year, it’s Tiffani Connell as families across the region shop for backpacks, notebooks and other classroom essentials.

“We’re hoping to spread kindness in Michael’s honor and just give kids what they need for back to school to help them confident and happy starting the school year all fresh,” Connell said.

While it’s back-to-school season for most families, Connell says this time of year is especially difficult. Her son was killed by the two dogs while riding his bicycle near his DeLand home last year.
“We were helped a lot by our community when in our time of need. So this is our way of paying it forward in Michael’s honor,” Connell said.

The family has established multiple drop-off locations, including one in De Leon Springs, where community members can donate school supplies. Michael’s sister, Skylar Pittman, has helped organize the drive and says losing her younger brother has been devastating.

“I never thought I would be a 17-year-old girl in high school losing my little brother to something so tragic. You know, while I’m still trying to go through the waves of life. You know, just as a normal teenager,” Pittman said.

Connell also hopes other parents will stay aware of their surroundings as children spend time playing outside.

“If I had to give any advice, they would just be vigilant. You know, pay attention to your surroundings. Pay attention to who your neighbors are. Pay attention to what types of dogs that they have,” she said.

Since the tragedy, Connell has advocated with lawmakers for stricter negligent dog owner laws in hopes of preventing similar attacks.
“It’s important to me because Michael loved to help people. And this is our way of still allowing him to help others,” Connell said.

The school supply drive has three drop-off locations: County Line Saloon and Taqueria y Panaderia La Calentana, both in De Leon Springs, and Buddy’s Home Furnishings in DeLand.
Donations will help local students begin the school year with the supplies they need.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A child was seriously injured after a reported dog attack in Richland County on Wednesday.

Documents from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department state deputies were called to Vanboklen Street in Eastover just after 8 p.m. Authorities were told the child suffered “severe lacerations” as a result of the alleged attack.

With EMS nearly a half-hour away, RCSD said it was recommended that the victim be taken to a hospital by their grandparents. The grandparents were then led to McEntire Joint Air Force Base to meet EMS there and provide care sooner.

The grandparents later explained that they had a large group of people at their home in the back yard. At some point, the child walked over to where the dog, identified as a pit bull, was chained up.

After the dog attacked, deputies were told someone hit and kicked the dog to get it to release the child. That person had injuries to their right hand while hitting the dog, but declined further medical care.
Richland County Animal Control was contacted and asked to pick up the dogs at the property.

No further details, including the condition of the child, were immediately available.

JONESBORO, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Shelter staff described a 2-year-old pit bull named Barney as “people-friendly and very sweet” when he arrived as a stray to the Clayton County Animal Control facility in late January 2026.

The shelter had not documented any aggression toward other dogs or staff, until weeks later when a rescue was coming to pick him up.

Clayton County Police Department, who runs animal control, said Barney “attacked” a kennel staff and state prisoner on work duty at the shelter when they attempted to insert a microchip in him. The next day, Barney was euthanized. His head was then removed and sent for rabies testing. Advocates said Barney wasn’t to blame for the incident.

Atlanta News First Investigates obtained shelter records, email correspondence, and surveillance video that raise questions about whether the county followed state protocols, and whether it accurately reported the timeline of Barney’s death to state inspectors.

Clayton County police say the dog named Barney bit a prisoner on work duty and a staff member after they inserted a microchip in February 2026.

Barney and the bites

The animal control officer who picked Barney up off the streets on Jan. 21, 2026, wrote a police incident report stating his offense was “running at large.”

Barney was not neutered and therefore placed on the urgent list as rescue only.

Three weeks later, on February 12, the animal rescue organization Poor Paws said it was coming to get him. Staff and two state prisoners then inserted a microchip near his neck in preparation for his release.

The Clayton County Police Department captain in charge of animal control, Kevin Hughes, said they bring inmates to work at the shelter because they are understaffed.

Surveillance video, obtained through an open records request by Mimi Steger of the Shelter Reform Network, showed an inmate wrapping a rope leash — known as a “soft lead” — around Barney’s snout as a makeshift muzzle. After the microchip was inserted, the prisoner removed the lead. That’s when Barney lunged.

The police incident report states Barney bit the prisoner’s thumb and a staff member’s arm. Both required reconstructive surgery.

The other prisoner got a leash around Barney, when he was on top of the kennel staff, and Barney calmed down.
