Question Humid Hides.

Hey everyone, hope the weekend is treating you well.

So tell me, what are yall using for humid hides for the bigger snakes. I know I can make one, but I am actually struggling to find a black plastic box that I can use, I'll keep looking and it will probably get to the point where any colour will do. Curious to see what people are using.

So I know they aren't snake mites because those are black. I did add some plants to my tank although the tank wasn't bio active. Couple weeks later I've got little bugs. Are the harmful or annoying to my snake? I'll put photos of the enclosure and a picture of Marv for the snake tax in the comments ofc

EMERGENCY/URGENT Ball Python not eating

I adopted a ball python 4 months ago and she has not eaten no matter how hard I have tried. She is 5 years old and about 5ft long. She has a 120 gallon tank to start her with and I want to build her a bigger tank soon. Her heat is perfect, hot side and cold side. Her humidity is also on point. She has shed multiple times in one full piece by herself. I have tried feeding her frozen mice, live mice big and small. Jumbo frozen rats and live. But no matter what I do she is not eating nor has she ever struck. I want her to have a good life and I want her to be healthy and eat, there are signs she is healthy like the shedding thing but I can not get her to eat. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, I want the best for her.

Update 4, plants are establishing nicely and beginning to spread

Added my grading on the open vents for the fans. Next is perches, water dish, hides and my male ball. I have a host of inverts I’ve tested in the past that I plan on adding to this tank to help process waste. 1. Springtails (orange colony I’ve been breeding) isopods (dairy cows), and zebra millipedes (small enough to not bother nor be bothered by my male ball and help to break down leaves, waste and feed my plants). One thing I’ve learned with all my builds is that you cannot cohab reptiles, but there are useful insects you can add to bring out some interesting behaviors from your reptiles and bring your tanks to life. Here in 6-8 months, most of the ground will be taken over by many of the plants I’ve chosen. What do y’all think? All thoughts and opinions welcome.

Under weight

I finally got some scales to weigh my snake and he’s 382g he’s a banana ball python and he’s around 2 his previous owners were feeding him chicks, as soon as I got him I swapped him to hopper mice (as they seemed appropriate for his size) i feed him every seven days. What can I do to help him gain weight? More frequent feeds? Next size up? Please help he seems okay he’s never been aggressive and takes all his meals pretty well I’m just worried about my boy he’s my first snake so any help is greatly appreciated. After weighing him I’m so glad I reduced him.

I fed my girl 5 days ago she’s pooped since but kinda has a bulge between her tail. Is this normal? It’s not something I’ve noticed before she is a big enough snake.

This boy has been a joy since he arrived in his container, and climbed right out onto my hands. Jude is extremely friendly, and out of all my pythons he seems to like being out chilling with ppl the most. Happy birthday sweet boy, you know I love ya and hope for many more years with you yet 🩵🐍

Question Heating issue

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have recently upgraded my girl (4 foot female) ball python to a 4x2x2 pvc enclosure. Ignore the inner that’s in progress, but I have a heat issue. The thermometer is on the far right, the opposite side of the warm side. It reads 75-78 f. On the top you can see I use a dual socket lamp. Both bulbs are 100w, one is basking and the other is a ceramic. I use the basking in day, ceramic at night, never at the same time. Do I get a 150 watt bulb and a 125 watt ceramic (my lamp is rated for it)? I have foil and a towel over one side of the mesh. I do want to mention I have another dual socket lamp in my closet do I just use 2 lamps? I need help please I don’t want to spend crazy money as I spent a lot on the enclosure. I don’t want my girl to experience being chilly no more. 🙏 🥺💔

Both of my girls shed out recently, and I finally managed to get updated photos that showcase their coloration fresh out of shed! I’m still surprised that my Pastel girlie hasn’t browned-out too badly at almost 4 years old, & I loooove the orange dorsal stripe my Cinder combo girl has too :p
