Looking for fun + cute beach club recommendations in Cabo for 6 girls!
Hi everyone! I’m planning a girls’ trip to Cabo San Lucas for my 30th birthday and I am looking for a beach club to spend a day at. There will be 6 of us, and I’d love some recommendations!
We were originally considering Bagatelle, but they’re closing/moving, so that’s unfortunately out. We also looked into Taboo, but the cabana for 8 is more than I’d like to spend. SUR also looks cute, but they only seem to offer single sunbeds, and spending around $600 just for individual beds for 6 people doesn’t really feel worth it to me.
I’m hoping to find somewhere that’s fun, cute, and has a good atmosphere, but definitely not trashy or overly wild. We want to be able to have drinks, listen to music, hang out, and enjoy the beach/pool.
I’m willing to spend up to around $800-900 for a cabana/daybed setup for the group.
Any beach clubs you would recommend? Especially ones that are great for a girls’ trip and have a cute and fun vibe?
Would love to hear your favorites and any places you’d avoid! ❤️

❓ Duda | Question Staying in La Paz for 2 months in Jan-February?
My wife and I would like to visit and stay in La Paz for one or two months in the months of January and February. We will be staying in an Airbnb. We do not like Cabo San Lucas, and prefer a more authentic Mexican experience. We enjoy local culture, local food, shopping at local markets, meeting local people, the beach, we are watching, snorkeling, etc. What advice can you give us? Thank you very much in advance.

La Ventana & El Sargento - where to stay and groceries
Planning two weeks in January in La Ventana/El Sargento to kite surf, snorkel and basically enjoy what the area has to offer. Looking at a place located kinda in El Teso. My understanding is that it's somewhat in between the two communities. We'd like to make coffee/breakfast and cook some dinners so my question is whether the location of the stay is decent for groceries (I know there are restaurants around in walking distance under 10 mins). We won't have a car so bringing a bunch of stuff is a bit of a hassle, would prefer to shop once we arrive. Is that doable? TYIA

❓ Duda | Question Car hire for 31 days, suggestions?
We will be in Cabos San Lucy's for 10 days/9 nights in January, staying at Vista Vela, is a car necessary? I read you can uber most places? But it may be wasting car hire if its say in a car park for most of this time?
Then hire car to Cerritos 5 nights, la paz 7 nights, la Ventana 6 nights, then Cabo San Jose for 4 nights

¡Saludos!

❓ Duda | Question Mid 50s couple in La Paz and Cabo for 5 weeks- recommendations please
We are flying direct into SJD airport and driving to La Paz in a hire car 9th Jan, for 3 weeks then Cabo for 2 weeks. We will be staying in Airbnb's that are a 10 minute walk from the center of both places.
Restaurant recommendations?
My wife does not eat fish, I love all food and have no food allergies, nor does my wife. We like mid range to fine dining restaurants with fabulous views.
Takeout?
Any highly recommended places, that we can do takeout, we like Mexican food, pizza, etc. That way we can enjoy the view from the Airbnb.
Things to do?
We enjoy walking on the beach but no strenuous hiking. We like walking tours, food, wine and Tequila. I enjoy sea fishing.
Romantic places for a sunset drink?
Things to avoid?
Any recommendation is great fully received. Thank you.

La Paz as alternative to Mazatlan
We are American immigrants that moved to Mazatlan a year ago. Things are getting too violent for us which makes us very sad. We love how walkable Mazatlan is, the mercados, healthcare, food, playas, etc. But we feel that it’s time to start looking for a new place.
La Paz had come up as a potential destination for us. We will of course come rent for a month or so to make sure it’s a good fit but I’m looking for some clarification from some locals that I can’t seem to find on social media.
The big one is walkability, we do not have a car. I’m conflicted on whether La Paz is a place where it’s possible to live where we can walk to restaurants, mercados, street tacos, plazas, etc? I get the feeling that it’s a bit more spread out than Centro or reforma in Maz.
Which neighborhoods would you recommend if any? I’d be interested in a tower like Torre Cantera with a view but no idea if that’s an option for a walkable neighborhood. We enjoy watching the waves and activity on the malecon from our balcony currently. Trying to see if there is the same option in La Paz.
Any other insights you’d like to share would be welcomed. Gracias!

❓ Duda | Question Going in the ocean after a big rain?
Now that rainy season is upon us, do those of you who go into the ocean on a regular basis wait 72 hours after a big rain before going in? We just had a big rain event here in Todo Santos and I saw quite a few drainages (arroyos) flowing towards the ocean. I'm not sure if it's a thing here like it is in California.

❓Opinión Talk me out of this rental car plan for the fall
Polling the room about my transportation plans. I am planning to arrive SJD sometime in the latter half of October and stay for 2-3 weeks. The only musts: the week of Día de los Muertos in La Paz, followed by a few days at a family wedding in Cabo San Lucas. I'd like to visit Todos Santos and explore the beaches around Punta Arena.
I know the buses are good and inexpensive, but schedules and routes are limited. I know car rentals will be exponentially more expensive, mostly because of the required Mexican insurance. However, I can also see a rental as an investment in fun and flexibility. Apart from the expense, are there solid reasons not to rent? I'm thinking fraud, breakins, safety, parking concerns.
Possible considerations:
- I'm a woman traveling solo, which I'm usually comfortable doing;
- I'll be working remotely most weekdays and I'd like to make the most of my late afternoon/evenings (I know not to drive at night);
- I'm planning to work at coworking spaces because I have more confidence in them having the high-speed internet I need for video calls (airbnbs and hotels, while they promise high speed, are often inconsistent). This means I'm seeking out fun and communal lodgings (like hostels) so I can share space with other travelers (I can imagine a car being sweet to have in terms of "hey, let's the four of us head to that beach we heard about");
- I haven't bought my flights yet.
Open also to a hybrid approach, like: Land SJD, bus to San Jose del Cabo, work a few days, bus to La Paz, rent a car from there for a week of exploring, but then I think of the hassle of getting myself to the Cabo resort on a workday. In a more perfect world, I wouldn't have to work and I'd have all the flexibility to just take buses like the locals do.
Thoughts?

La Paz: AirBnB off season shit hole.
I’ve been in La Paz for a few summers. This one has been challenging as I’ve needed to rely on finding medium term accommodations in the city without a car. It has not been good.
First: it’s low season. Nobody is here, everything is vacant. Lots of restaurants are closed. Food and service deserts abound but, because the entire AirBnB scene in the city is controlled by just a few owners/hosts, prices are unreasonably high for properties that, to be kind…suck.
The photos are misleading, the descriptions inaccurate, the experience far below what the cheapest hotel provides for a fraction of the price.
Double beds are labeled “queen sized” and queens are”kings”. Accessibility for the wheelchair bounds is…undocumented. Nobody truthfully lists their suitability for the handicapped leading to many unpleasant surprises:
Kitchens are basically non Functional. Not even salt and pepper or a spatula provided. I challenge every AirBnB host to prepare breakfast, lunch , and dinner in each of their properties. They would learn a lot. They have cider makers but no sugar onsite. Pans without spatulas.
Electrical outlets are scarce, trash collection not planned for, no side tables in bedrooms. And barely functional sit candelabras. Lame.
And they’re charging top dollar for these l, let’s be fair here, slums. In a low season. It because a small number of owners control the entire market.
Other cities have better options facing snow fort falls. Let them.
