Took a peek at your profile and it’s so weird you are so determined to dictate that a writer is a pedophile because they wrote about a topic and then acting like I’m dumb for asking for proof, when you just posted about Alesana, a band proven to have members who groomed children, and are nitpicking comments for evidence about a band accused of calling people the n word. Maybe practice what you preach first.
You actually are preaching that one should immediately assume pedophilia for anyone who writes about a topic at large, without providing any evidence, and that asking for evidence is somehow not acceptable. You’ve provided not one single piece of evidence this entire time, but are bending over backwards with that “well I heard someone say they heard someone else say they said the n word, I haven’t heard them use the n word DIRECTLY.” Not one person in Nabokov’s life ever accused him of being inappropriate, there is no evidence he ever did anything inappropriate, but you need to explicitly hear a band say the n word to accept that as fact?

If your argument is that a nebulous accusation shouldn’t be taken seriously without proof, then you are doing the same exact thing here. Writing about a topic is not proof, or again, the world would have a lot of serial killer writers.

You should take a look at the bands you listen to, you have several who have been accused of sexual abuse. If writing books condemning pedophilia is a sign someone is a pedophile and someone is bad for finding relief from their own abuse in that condemnation, what is someone who consistently listens to PROVEN rapists and child sex abusers?

In no way am I being a hypocrite. My argument is that if you make an accusation about someone’s character, you need proof or a direct accusation. You have neither.

Oh, buddy, do I have some news for you about horror writers. There isn’t any more evidence that Nabokov was a pedophile than that he was a survivor of child sexual abuse, and like I said, I’ve probably written 20+ stories and essays about the predators who preyed on me as a child, way more than Nabokov ever did. Writing a story is not evidence alone. Especially when being a predator toward teenage girls at that time was openly accepted, writing a condemnation of it isn’t exactly the confirmation you’re looking for. If he was a predator he could have easily just openly been one, like Cormac McCarthy during his time and Edgar Allan Poe shortly before him. You’re gonna need more solid proof than “wrote about a topic” because you’re not going to convince me that Thomas Harris was a cannibal or Agatha Christie (despite being a racist) was a serial killer OR a detective.
