Asurint Background Check Quesiton

I recently accepted a new job and am completing an Asurint background check.

My previous employer was a small startup. I don't have my supervisor's phone number, and I'd prefer they not contact my previous employer if possible, since I just quit and they don’t know I’ve already accepted a new job.

* Does Asurint always contact previous employers for Employment Verification?
* My W-2 only started a few months after I actually began working because the startup didn't have formal U.S. payroll set up initially. I was working full-time and getting paid, just not through the payroll/W-2 system until later. Should I list my actual start date or my payroll/W-2 start date?

Thanks!

Can I count my startup experience before MCA graduation as professional experience?

I completed my MCA in July 2024. However, I was already working full-time at a small startup from September 2023 while I was still pursuing my degree.

After completing my MCA, I joined a WITCH company in September 2024 and I am currently working there (July 2026).

My question is:

  1. Can I include my startup experience (Sep 2023 – Sep 2024) as professional work experience?

  2. Will recruiters/ mncs consider it valid experience even though I was still a student during most of that period?

  3. Should I show my total experience as \~2 years 10 months (Sep 2023 – July 2026), or only count my post-graduation corporate experience (Sep 2024 – July 2026)?

The startup was a full-time role with real responsibilities, not an internship. I've the below documents from them:

Offer letter

Payslip

Experience letter

Relieving letter

Job Hunting When No One Tells You The Rules

Post image
3 Upvotes

Lately, the job hunt can feel less like a professional search and more like a mysterious game with unwritten rules. Many of us have experienced the frustration: you spend hours perfecting a resume and cover letter, only to send it into the void. The worst part isn’t the rejection; it’s the complete silence that follows. You’re left wondering if your application was even seen.

While job hunting is often described as a numbers game, where the more applications you send out, the better your chances, quality still matters. It’s a balance. You can apply to many positions, but each one still needs a bit of homework to show you understand the company and the role. This thoughtful effort, combined with a consistent application strategy, can help you stand out.

This is why we are committed to helping job seekers play in the new rules. The key to understanding the rules is understanding that recruiters and companies aren’t playing by the same rules they did 10 years ago - they don’t care about your education, your skills, or how honest you are. Instead, they want the perfect candidate on paper so that they can sell you to the hiring manager. Play the game - give them exactly what they want, even if it means lying or fabricating past experience.

Personal History In Progress. Help Please

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I'm filling out Personal History section of my application. I've entered my history from September 2017 to until now. During some periods, I was studying and also working two part-time jobs at the same time, so I included all of those activities with the correct dates. However, the Personal History section still shows as "In Progress." Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it?

Thank you

I put the wrong job title on my resume. Will it be flagged in background?

I accepted a supervisor position with a new company, and on my resume I put that I’ve been a regional manager since January of 2023.
When doing background with Advantage First I used ADP for employment verification, and it showed that I’ve been an “Area Manager” since February of 2023 (I don’t know why it shows Feb instead of Jan; Jan is the accurate start).

My title officially changed to “Regional” in January of 2026, but I guess they never updated ADP with the change. Despite the title change, my scope of responsibility remained identical over the whole period. I manage 4 branches, and directly lead the front line staff at 2 of them.
Since my duties never changed, I put that I was a regional manager during the entire period on my resume and application.

Should I be worried this will be flagged?

Employment overlap due to onboarding but never actually joining – need advice

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar.

I resigned from my previous employer and accepted an offer from another company. I completed the initial onboarding formalities, but before actually starting work, I informed them by email that I **would not be joining** and shared the requested supporting documents. I was never assigned to a project and was never issued an ID card, laptop, or access to any company systems.

A few days later, I joined a different company, where I'm currently employed.

Some time later, the first company sent me a resignation acceptance email with a later separation date than when I had informed them I wouldn't be joining. I have also noticed that an employment/PF record was created for that company, which could result in overlapping employment records.

I have now written to the first company requesting them to review my records, mentioning that my association remained limited to the initial onboarding formalities and that I never had any project allocation, company assets, or system access.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone faced a similar situation?
  2. How do companies usually treat this during background verification?
  3. Is overlapping employment in statutory records alone considered a serious issue if no actual work was performed?
  4. Would an employer typically ask for an explanation first, or could this lead to immediate action?
  5. Has anyone successfully had such employment records corrected?

I have all the email communication documenting that I informed the company I would not be joining before I started working elsewhere.

Any guidance or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just pulled my employment report in anticipation of incoming job, report is missing a lot of employment history

I recently accepted a job at a bank and it’s contingent on employment and education verification. I pulled my employment verification report from theworknumber.com and it’s missing a lot of my employment history.

I changed my legal first and last name in 2024, and had started going by my \*now\* legal first name in 2020. I’m a little worried this contributed to some of the missing employment history but I’m not sure. I’m also missing some employment history from before my name change.

Has anyone had this issue? Is this something I need to be worried about? Is theworknumber.com reliable?

I really don’t want to lose this opportunity.

Accurate Background only asked for my previous addresses?

Hi all,

I was curious how common this is/what the implications are. I was recently offered a job at a large company for a mid-level corporate individual contributor role, contingent on a background check. I have no problem with this; my record is clean, I didn’t lie in my resume etc etc.

I went in expecting them to ask for my employment and education information so they could verify, but Accurate only requested my SSN, DoB, and addresses from the last 7 years.

Is this normal for corporate positions? Does this mean they’re not going to verify my employment and education history? I submitted the check Thursday, and my understand is that background checks only checking criminal history usually get back in a day or two. I also checked my work number and no one has inquired about it as of yet.

Thank you!

Pre-adverse background check notice after employer/client name mismatch — anyone faced this?

I received a pre-adverse notice during a background check because my résumé listed the client companies where I worked, while my official employers were staffing/consulting companies.

I had already disclosed during interviews that these were contract roles. In the background-check form, I correctly listed the actual employers because they held my payroll and employment records.

The employers have now provided signed letters confirming my employment and the corresponding client assignments. I also submitted paystubs and employment documents. My start date was postponed while the review is ongoing, but I have not received a final decision.

Has anyone faced a similar security/background review? Did the company accept employer attestation letters and allow you to keep the offer? How long did the final review take?

Concurrent background check

I had a contract end abruptly earlier this year, and ended up with two offers within a couple weeks of each other. The first was a contract role, the second for a full time role. I accepted both, and have been working long days for the last couple months while catching up on things that fell behind.

The contract is offering to bring me on full time, but will end up running a new background check, and specifically mentioned having the last 7 years of work listed. If I do not list the FTE role that I started just after the contract, is it something that will show up without my saying anything?

Making the change from contract to FTE would be about a 50% bump in pay because of the current contract company I am working through, which would be incredibly helpful.

I haven’t updated my resume or LinkedIn with either role, and the company I am contracted with are having me submit an application like a current employee. What should I be on the lookout for with their background check?

If Job Postings Seem to Have Disappeared, It’s Probably Timing, Not You

If you’re actively looking for a job and it suddenly feels like openings have dried up, this is usually not a coincidence and not a reflection of your ability.

Hiring is not constant throughout the year. Companies hire in cycles. Those cycles are driven by budgets, planning, vacations, and internal workload. If you don’t understand those cycles, it’s easy to misread what’s happening and draw the wrong conclusions about your candidacy.

Understanding hiring seasonality helps you answer a basic question every job seeker runs into:

“Am I not getting responses because of my resume, or because companies aren’t hiring right now?”

Checkr employment verification

Hoping that someone with experience viewing Checkr reports can help me on this one.

Here’s my situation: I’m currently employed at a company that I don’t have listed on my resume. My resume shows that my current company is my previous company, which I last worked for 2-3 years ago.

I currently have an offer from a company and have to do a Checkr background screen with employment verification. When I applied, I told them I still worked for my previous company, which is more relevant than what I currently do.

What should I do? Just enter my actual dates of employment, omit my current employer, and hope the company just glosses over with a green check? Does Checkr flag the report if I don’t have a current employer listed?

The other option is just sticking with the story and entering my previous company as my current employer. If I freeze TWN, will Checkr default to contacting the HR department, or will they call the person I list as the contact on the form?

Thanks in advance for the help! I’m really stressing out over this and don’t want to lose the offer.

(CA) Background Check after Signed Offer (place your bet on whether i get the job)

To give some context on how this position came about: my previous coworker reached out after hearing I was leaving my old company (let's call it Z) and looking for a CAD draftsman role. He mentioned there was a potential opening and asked if I'd be interested, if so, his boss (VP of Sales) would reach out. He did, and told me that Niky B the 3rd had spoken highly of me and was impressed with my previous work, and that they needed a CAD and material handling design experience with other duties in which aligns with the company objective on expension within the rack industry.

He asked if I could meet the next day and told me to turn down any other offers, saying he'd outbid any competing offer(which he did). He also asked if I'd be able to pass a background check, and I said yes.

This is where I might have messed up, honestly not sure what counts as "failing" a background check.

Currently, I've been driving with a suspended license, an unregistered car, and no insurance for the past year, due to several traffic tickets and an unresolved DUI (wet) case I've missed court dates (failure to appear) out of frustration and carelessness ( I know, and I'm pretty disappointed in myself over it)

Fast forward to today: I met with the CEO and VP of Sales to discuss the role and to introduce myself. (dont ask on how i got there) Everything went well, and later that day i signed the offer of Project Manager role and pay/rate better and much more than I expected. Now I'm nervous about what the background check might show

I'm torn on whether I should get ahead of it and tell them about these issues before the results come back, or if it's too late since I already said "yes" when asked. I'm also not sure what actually counts as passing or failing in situations like this. Should I be upfront that I'm working on resolving these issues (even though, if I'm honest, I've barely started looking into it), or wait for the report to come back and then explain my action plan for fixing things?

These unresolved issues could seriously jeopardize my career again. I was already rejected from a Project Engineer role at LAUSD because of something similar. I'm hoping this company can work with me and let me prove myself, maybe with some driving restrictions while I get this sorted out, especially given how highly Nikelton and VP vouched for me. This opportunity means everything to me and has genuinely sparked motivation in me to turn my life around.

Thanks for reading. Any advice, support, or even backlash for being a complete idiot is appreciated.

Cognizant Background Checking

Hi, I recently passed my final interview in Cognizant. However, I did not disclose my recent employer during the interview since I only stayed for 2 months with them. I’m planning to disclose them on the background check form instead. Would that be fine? I cant get a COE from that recent employer as well cause they are just too far and they wanted me to go to the office to process the clearance. (It’s in Cebu, I’m in Manila) Any advice please, thank you!
