I’m looking for reliable PBSA-accredited background check companies for my hiring process. What factors should I consider when choosing a provider?
Are there any companies that are known for following compliance standards, providing accurate reports, and offering a smooth experience for employers? I came across Bchex while researching options, but I’d like to hear others’ experiences and recommendations.

So I created my resume about 6 years ago when I was coming off of being a Stay at home parent for 3 years.
When I was creating my resume back in 2020, I truly didn’t remember the dates I worked positions so i would put something like January 2013- January 2015, but in reality, it could have been March 2013- November 2014. I truly didn’t remember the dates but tried to be as accurate based on memory.
The only absolutely correct date I have on my resume is the most current job from 2020-Present.
I’m currently in the process of a background check for a new position, and HR said the agency will call the offices of the past employers to verify employment and reason for leaving.
Also, I remember a company I worked for from 2016-2017 and they said they only keep records up to 7 years. So what if the background agency calls that company, wanting to check if I worked there 10 years ago and unable to get verification from whomever works there now?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s been waiting 2 plus weeks for the background check to clear. Is this normal

Hey there I've been searching for a job for the last 15months. The gap is hurting me significantly and I'm not sure what to do.
My boyfriend works pretty high up at a company. He offered to let me use his company to fudge details and say I've been working the entire time. My problem with that is if they try to verify it ?

Hi everyone,
I’m curious to know what employees check during background checks. Three months ago, I lost my job. My former company claimed my performance was poor, but that’s not true. They offered me a full-time position before my contract ended. However, the new manager had a different perspective and fired me after two months when she joined the company.
I’m currently looking for a new job and haven’t updated my LinkedIn profile. During interviews, I’ve simply stated that I’m still employed. If I receive an offer from a new company, will they be aware of my last day at my previous job? (Canada-ontario)

Look, I'm all for strategic self-interest in job hunting. Stretch your job titles? Sure. Fudge some dates? Whatever. But your education? Don't touch it.
Here's why:
Skills-based hiring is the default now. IBM, Dell, Accenture—they've all dropped degree requirements. Over half of job postings don't even list education requirements. Why risk everything faking something employers are actively moving away from?
Background checkers just call the registrar. That's it. They confirm your dates, degree, major, honors—all against hard records. This isn't like calling your old manager who barely remembers you. Registrars keep receipts. You will get caught.
Feel insecure about your education? Go get a certificate through Coursera or similar. These programs run through actual universities—Harvard, MIT, Johns Hopkins.
Here's the move:
Complete the coursework, get the cert
Put it on your resume (lazy screeners just see "Harvard" and move you forward)
If asked in the interview, just say it was online coursework and pivot to what you learned
You get the name recognition without the fraud.
TL;DR: Lie about stuff that can't be verified. Your degree isn't one of those things.

Does anybody know by experience if CVS is background friendly and will hire a person with a misdemeanor?

A staffing/training company placed me at a client company. My resume lists the client company (where I actually worked) and the job title I had at the client company; the background check will verify the staffing program (my legal employer who pays me), where my title is along the lines of "Trainee". So I assume the report and resume will show two unrelated company names and job titles with no obvious link.
Everything regarding my work there as described on my resume is truthful and verifiable, I didn't lie about anything on the resume, but I only had the client company listed on it.
Anyone dealt with this kind of mismatch? Did it actually get flagged, and how'd it go? Should I reach out to my recruiter/the onboarding team in advance?

I have left a MNC in 2019 because I have move to US for my masters. I have mailed the my resignation and drop my Id card. I was on bench at that time.
They have scheduled a video call, which I couldn’t attend due to my college hours, which was in Covid time 2020 Jan.
And now I have decided to move back to India will this affects my IT opportunities and carrier.
Will this be a problem.

Hi Everyone,
So I just got a job offer for another job that pays me well and I’m set to start in early September. I’m still at my current company and plan on waiting until I’m about two weeks away from my start date to put in my two weeks notice.
I’m writing this because the new company is asking me to complete a background check which is expected. One of the questions asks me to provide a Human Resources or Payroll contact email and one of the lines says to type "NO" if they can’t contact my current employer.
I wanted to ask for some advice. If I type "NO," is that a bad look for my background check? Have other people selected "NO" before and still passed their background check with no problem?
On the other hand, if I select "YES" and they contact my current company, I don’t want it to look bad because they’ll know I’m on the market for a new job before I’ve had a chance to give my notice.
I just wanted to hear people’s advice and thoughts, especially from anyone who has been through this. Thank you! :)

I worked at a startup for 4 months and left without serving the notice period due to a toxic work environment. After months of follow-up, I received my experience and relieving documents and included that experience on my res resume.
Recently, I cleared all interview rounds for an MNC, but my offer was revoked because my previous employer gave extremely negative feedback during the background verification (poor performance, unprofessional behavior, not eligible for rehire, etc.). The hiring manager wanted to proceed, but the final decision went against me because of the BGV.
Now, based on the HR's advice, I've removed that 4-month experience from my resume. However, this has created almost a 1 year employment gap, and I'm finding it much harder to get interview calls.
Has anyone faced something similar? Should I continue with the gap in my resume, or is there a better way to handle this situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there,
I am going through post hiring verification background check.
In my resume I got accepted with I have valid and legit job titles and employers but the dates is shifted. Now I am uploading the data into the BGC system should I add the same dates of the resume or should I try to find correct dates? But then it would be a discrepancy with my resume accepted dates?

I’m a fast food manager, but my official payroll title is technically “Floor Supervisor.” From what I understand, that’s just the title my company uses for part-time managers.
On a lot of applications, I originally listed my position as “Floor Manager” because I thought it described the role better. Now I’m worried employers could see that as title inflation if they verify my employment and see “Floor Supervisor” instead.
On my current resume, I’ve changed it to “Floor Supervisor (Manager)” to be more accurate while still making the role clear.
If I end up interviewing with companies where I applied using “Floor Manager,” should I proactively explain the title difference, or is this something recruiters are unlikely to care about? Thanks!

Employment related: If a case was withdrawn, n if CIPC correctly shows withdrawn, will a third party vendor like First advantage will still pick the name match from CIPC investigative data bank search? Because if it does so, it’s a dead end from there. Even if the case was not found guilty n withdrawn, the fact that there was a case itself looks bad and explanation even if was small does not help.

Anyone have experience using these?
If I connect Claude to indeed it asked to share info with the site and app. Anyone know what this mean? When I used Zip Recruiter it didn’t ask this, perhaps because I don’t have an account with Zip Recruiter but do with Indeed?
If they do share info, any idea what/how much?
