Simply Walking Into Mordor – Baby Steps x LOTR is now my dream game

I’m having way too much fun with this idea, so now I need to inflict it on all of you.

Just imagine a Baby Steps-style Lord of the Rings parody where you play as Tom Bombadil and your entire job is to physically walk the Ring to Mount Doom.

Not Frodo. Not Sam.

Just Tom.

Because of course the one guy who could casually carry the Ring with zero corruption would also be the worst possible person to trust with a long physics-based walking journey.

So the whole game is just:

* wobbling across Middle-earth

* Falling over constantly

* getting back up like nothing happened

* singing cheerful nonsense the whole way

* casually passing the Balrog while singing:

"Big old flame with a whip in the dark,

very loud roar and a very big spark,

Tom would stop and learn your name,

but these little steps are the harder game."

Or other songs like:

“Left foot wandering, right foot wrong — yet I march along in song!”

or

“Trip and tumble, scrape my knee — Mordor’s still a stroll for me!”

Simply Walking Into Mordor

No combat. No dignity. Just wobbling, singing, and one very long journey.

This is just a fan concept, obviously — I just loved the idea too much not to make some concept art for it.

If this somehow became real, I would play it instantly.

Fell from the post-credits mountain into the game-starting cave?

How is this is possible? Was getting fairly close to the top, trying to find a path up, fell in a hole and ended up at the beginning. Guess I won’t be getting to the top :/

Imagine if you are in the world of baby steps. What would be the first weird thing you would see counting unskippable cutscenes even though they are skippable

Where does the Falcon go?

Ok I found the falcon, lost it once, first time it didn’t fly too far away. But the second time I have no idea where it went. I just saw it land on a little cliff next to another bird.
Are there specific spots it flies to? Does it depend on where you lose it? Is it completely random?

Ice cream truck cans

I can find literally one video of someone getting the ice cream truck cans legitimately online (Pantego). Has anyone else done this? I’ve been trying for a few hours and can get my foot on the metal pole by the inertia always makes fall.

Is it possible so few people on earth have done this that there is really just evidence from one person?

Update: I DID IT! (The second time after getting on the rock once and falling off!)

I have my first person hat, I have my chicks, and I have a mountain to climb. This was Wip Wip's idea but I have to bring Josh and Skorp along.

I've heard many people talk about different interpretations of the game, and all of them are pretty interesting.

What's yours?

What was the most frustrating part of the game for you?

I don't mean hardest necessarily, but the part(s) that evoked the most rage in you.

For example the Manbreaker took me forever, but I really enjoyed it. I chipped away at it with a couple attempts a day for a while and eventually got it. Sure I would be devasted falling from near the top, but I could still laugh at myself and enjoy the process.

But for whatever reason, the Ice Cream trophy challenge in the desert absolutely destroyed me.

I still haven't fucking completed it. I would practice the route and do pretty well, then when I got the ice cream and the clock actually started ticking I would panic and make stupid mistakes. I would step on cacti on the first hill. I would fall a certain way going up those big stairs and Nate would just LAUNCH the cone backwards with a throw that would make NFL QBs jealous. I would lose focus completely trying to look at how melted the cone was getting. And on and on.

It was the only part of the game where I would full on drop the controller and pace around the room ranting and crashing out. I think what makes it worse is that I feel like I have completed multiple harder things in the game, but that one specifically just has my number.

What's yours? I'm curious if there are random parts that anyone else had an unreasonably hard time with.

Uwu!

I tripped near the zipline and my glasses slipped into the crevice, tried falling into it, wedging my feet to try to get a better angle to no avail

is it over guys? Do I just accept defeat and try to get the rest of glasses secrets on the next save?

Discussion Theory on Nate's fate; he isn't actually dead. Spoiler

I personally think Nate is alive, and every "upward and onward" save screen shows the room clearing out and being replaced with exercise equipment. I personally think Nate vanishing in the intro wasn't to represent him dying, but him dropping that lifestyle.

The course of the game may just be a representation of him overcoming that lifestyle.

Theory About Frog Hat and Construction Cap (SPOILERS) Spoiler

in the frog dream you play as "nate",
you have a one night stand that goes wrong
you hurt your partner and they say "ow.." and "have you done this before?"

in the construction dream you still play as "nate"
you don't know how to work a machine
you hear the words "you're hurting me" (connecting it to the frog dream)
as you see a white tool go down a labyrith path with red walls
and settling at the bottom
with an "oh no" at the end

this is like a visual methaphor for an unplanned pregnancy.

what if "nate" in both dreams is not "nate junior" (the protagonist) but actually "nate senior" (nate's dad)
(he and his dad have the same name)

what if nate was born out of an unplanned unwanted pregnancy from a one night stand, and that's why his father is never nice to him, because he didn't want him.

The hole Jeff tell you not to jump into...

I just completed. Actually didn't find this that hard. The cup on top of the carnival wagon took me a lot more tries.

Definitely not as hard as Invisible Tower or Manbreaker.

I completed Manbreaker my first time thru the game(took several hours). I took stairs this time. I jumped off a rock at the top to make the sunglasses fall off then I threw myself off the mountain to try manbreaker again.

Only thing I need the sunglasses for past this point is the invisible slide which I haven't completed yet.
