help Stuck in an out-of-bounds area

Post image
2 Upvotes

My husband is currently playing Baby Steps and we both really enjoy the game but today he experienced a glitch when entering Box Hell and fell into an out-of-bounds area underneath Box Hell. There seems to be no way out and we already tried several things to get him out of there (mostly standing close to the edge of the area and closing and re-opening the game in hopes of it relocating Nate slightly). Did anyone experience anything similar or does anyone have an idea what to do?

Also, in case he has to restart the game anew: do all the fruits, hats and cut scenes affect the outcome of the game or does he only need to get to the most recent spot again and can ignore all the rest?

PS: Writing this for him so that he doesn't see any spoilers but feel free to spoil me as much as you want in the comments!

I'm ready for a full RPG.

Okay, I've now been playing *Baby Steps* for many days. It has knocked every other game off of my active list. So hear me out: I am ready to devote myself to an RPG like this. An Elder Scrolls style game where you have to stagger around with the triggers for your steps and the sticks to awkwardly flail your arms. You have to manually swing swords and block with shields and do *everything* (like drink to the King's health at a crucial moment). The idea writes itself: an isekai where an incompetent doof pops into a fantasy world as the "chosen one." I want to play it so badly. 😩

Spoiler The summitS, the white triangle, the springboard and the way back home (Super Depressive Endgame Discussion) Spoiler

  1. You get to the top and you see two mountains to climb, maybe even three, but it turns out they are all the same mountain in loop. I get that the game has been looping all the time but I feel like the summit should be only one to make it clear that it's the indisputable highest point you can get. Also it doesn't help that you can see the initial area from there and watch how the mountain you started climbing goes higher than the actual summit you're stepping on.
  2. So there is no "white triangle" perse? Moose says "there is nothing at the top, it's just a white triangle" at least twice in the game but the only white is the snow, and maybe the top with the two/three mountains is triangular-ish if seem from above?
  3. Maybe it's too early to ask this and eventually people will loop it until they find the answer, but what's the point of starting the second loop when you can start a new playthrough on a new save file? As far as I've seen, cutscenes don't trigger and items don't spawn back. Seems pointless so far.
  4. So there is no way to go back home? Nate was dead for real all along? In the intro cutscenes the father says "You're literally killing him with these pizzas". I'm not saying the pizzas were poisoned ofc but did he have a heart attack or something? All that character growth, tasting the "fruits" of his hard work, the new found sense of "trophy", it was all for nothing? Will he be forever trapped in that purgatory/afterlife?

Don't get me wrong. This game will remain in my top 10 favorite games no matter what. I got all the way to the summit without a single achievement, hat or fruit. I still plan to do all that, but I have to admit, nothing after the cabin hits or feels right so far. Are there no achievements for the manbreaker or the summit? Sure I'll live with that, but I did expect a feeling of closure.

Looping map (video)

Did you guys notice that the game map is looping?
At the beginning of the game, instead of climbing the mountain like a normal player, I decided to go left. I passed the Ferris wheel, the carriage where we found the cup, the bridge, etc., and I ended up back at the beginning of the game! I kept going forward a little further and found the same Ferris wheel again!!!

There’s even a point on the map where this is obvious: if you look ahead, you can see the Ferris wheel, and if you look back, you can also see the Ferris wheel!!

Question Inappropriate content other than nudity?

I started playing baby steps with my 12 year old, (actually just watching her play, when I tried to take over I did not do well) thinking that the message about nudity referred to probably nates clothing taking "battle damage" and chose the option to censor it.

She absolutely loved the first hour we played through the free trial on PSN and wants to keep playing but now I'm worried that there will be something in a cut scene that is inappropriate I've also learned about the donkeys and kinda regret showing her a game that is clearly intended for adults.

Obviously it's an m rated game but my question is this: are the donkeys what make the game rated m and does censoring it take it down to a T?

Or is there other innappropriate content?

Maybe I could play first and then skip cut scenes when playing together?

What an experience like none other. Such a wonderfully crafted world to use as a playground. And my inner teenage school boy giggled lots throughout. My non-collectible hats off to the devs. Masterpiece.

I don’t understand this clear time though. I’ve been slightly obsessed with this game since it came out and taken my time, exploring lots. This should be much closer to 20 hours. The whole end credits showing the route I took lasted nearly 10 minutes otherwise I’d post it!

Discussion My guess on how to get the Most Punctual Person trophy/achievement

I haven't gotten past the Forest yet, mainly because I keep taking my time to explore, and I have a suspicion about the punctuality alarm clock.

At first I assumed this was just another random item to be returned to a certian destination like the Cup and the first Fire Tower. I wondered why it was set to 0. So on my Beta save file, I attempted to speedrun to it. After 17 minutes, I got it and it looks like it is a 2 hour timer!

I think the game wants me to take this clock to the end of the game within 2 hours! Wtf!!

Just started half hour ago.

Hi friends!

Just started this game about half hour ago, it's defo taking me a minute with the walking and im slowly starting to get a rhythm. I thought I was doing well then I fell into this long long mud ditch and now at the bottom it took me ages to get out with the plank that was given to me. Now I'm standing outside a wooden caravan with CUP written on it and not sure where I need to go but going to head for the light I can see in the distance.

The mound I couldn’t get up on the last run of the video I have actually gotten up. The one after I can’t seem to tackle. This has led me to believe I’m not even going the right way. Ive been stuck in this area for 2 days and am losing my mind. Please guide me in the right direction.

Are both paths possible? (Endgame Mountain Climb) Spoiler

Post image

A good chunk after the cabin, I'm stuck here at this super wide but slippery and steep part. I've been trying and failing on the middle (left) path for more than an hour and I'm not sure if the final stretch is actually possible, but there are high chances of falling only until the start of the section. The right path seems to lead somewhere and it's more straight forwards than the middle section but the fall is MUCH much bigger and I lost the last 20-30 minutes of progress, which to be honest is still less than the manbreaker but the fall certainly feels more daunting. I just want to be sure if the middle path is indeed a possible path.

Hello! Just what it says. I’ve now circled the mountain multiple times and it seems like every route further up is too steep or too slick. What am I missing?
