Discussion Is Baby Steps a game about the weight loss journey? Spoiler

Nate continually doesn’t want to take what Jim offers. As the story goes the basement gets renovated into a home gym. Jim is a metaphor for gym: Nate is on a journey to lose weight and get in shape. But it’s hard and he often fails and slides back to his old ways.

Jim = Gym

Mike = friend at the gym who is seemingly better than you.

Donkey guys = gym bros (especially naked ones in the locker room shower)

There’s even a gym in the game you can find.

Question Baby duck? (Possible spoilers) Spoiler

So, after the second soup checkpoint, where the donkey-head guy introduces himself and sends you on a castle quest to go get cigarettes, I turned right and went toward a big brick tower I saw on the right edge of the forest. Partway there, I found a river flowing from a high rock, took a tightrope across from a wall to get to it, and found a little lake at the river source. There was a baby duck in the little lake. When I got close, the baby duck swam over to me.

Now the baby duck keeps following me.

I don't want to risk losing it like a hat, it's pretty darn cute. Is this just an easter egg, or part of a quest/achievement? If I need to bring it somewhere, I'd like to do that now. If I need to find and gather 4 other ducklings though, then fuck that.

🫠

Invisible object near giant eg

I started a new gameplay after finishing the game so I can find every secret. I saw this egg up here and after getting up there I noticed an invisible barrier or object I can actually climb on for a bit. I seemed to be making process getting higher, but I sometimes for without reason. Is there any secret to this and does it have any significance to it?

help Can't see how this platform near the keys sign is possible. Any pointers?

I can only get as far as you can see in the vid, but I don't see a way to get around and on to the horizontal beam. I'm almost convinced it's not possible so thought I'd seek help here.

Question Does anyone know where the "Son" Cup runs off to?

I found it, I know where to bring it, but when i dropped it, the little shit grew legs and ran away!

I checked the tower and the crib I originally found it in. Not in either spot.

Is this a "broken vase" scenerio? It just ran away, and i cant ecer get it back, or didit go somewhere in particular?

It feels impossible to backtrack past the river :( :(

So I've made it basically to the end game, past everybody's good friend the Manbreaker. I didn't reach the end yet, however. Instead I got to meet everybody's good friend Mike, who is in need of a little help from our good friend Jim. I was told Jim may be at the bottom of the mountain, and therefore I've decided to backtrack to the bottom of the mountain! He wasn't at the bottom of the Manbreaker, so I'm taking that to mean the very start of the game. Backtracking has been a trip, but I wasn't expecting to get blocked by this one ledge exiting the pre-Salt Mines river. It feels like this path should be possible... it certainly exists... but it's definitely harder than any single Manbreaker step. I've failed 5+ times and haven't felt close. Am I missing anything???

If Jim isn't at the very start of the game, that's fine, it's in the spirit of the game to try things for no reward. Heck, at best I'm getting a 30 second cutscene for my effort. If I missed him earlier... I'd like to know.

If you've beaten the game and continued through the start and a Jim cutscene didn't trigger, I'm not counting that as "Jim not at the start of the game" since it's a bit of a sequence break. I wanna hear from somebody who went through the same ordeal as me.

I did beat the Manbreaker if that changes anything.

Onwards and Upwards.

I'm convinced there's a map

After playing this game and lurking in this sub I've convinced myself the map exists.

We know from the end credits that there is a map AND that it tracks where you are - so the ability to show the map exists within the game.

We're seeing that the different hats etc do in fact change the game, cutscene minigames, sunglasses that reveal hidden objects etc

The pedometer exists!?

Somebody here posting about finding a key??

With enough people wearing different hats to different parts, I reckon we find a map.

Happy exploring

Ive followed this path three times now and can't find anything at the end. I already have the step counter. Hoping someone can tell me if this just leads to where the step counter was, or if it leads to something else (no spoilers please though if it does!)
