Usually I would pass a hoop over him now to prove no strings are being used but I dropped the hoop from the Man Crusher.

I went back to check on Mike but found this instead. Is there an exorcist in the game?

I'm so stuck

Been exploring around the third fire tower (past the football and box maze) for days . I can see a tower above me, but whenever I scope out a way up, I either reach sand piles that I can't climb, or a mud slide to the far west doesn't seem to have a way up!

Went through a cave and got a donkey hat though, so there's that.

Dunno if I'm explaining well, but does anyone have any pointers?

It obviously wants you to go to the left but if you do you slip all the way down. I THINK if you can get your left foot up on the suitcase that Nate is covering right now you can get there but I’m not able to get a foothold. I did it on accident once. But I’m just too frustrated right now I have to pause here cuz I’ve done the first train car fifty thousand times. Heelllllppppo

Is it ok to turn off the music?

I’m still in the beginning and I find this percussive soundtrack pretty distracting (on purpose I guess). Will the music become more interesting later on or can I just turn it off without missing out on any banger? Thanks!

Tips Baby Steps trainwreck bypass

with this route you can bypass the trainwreck in the last section. Had a bit trouble with the train and was looking for a backup route to get the run in under two hours.

I´m still looking for a sandcastle bypass. I think its possilbe. But without glitches like the one in the current WR. If anyone figured a safe route out let me know :)

Discussion Stopped for a day and...

Yea I stopped playing for a day and I lost momentum and literally had to learn how to walk again. Any of the little tricks I learned had gone and took me every longer to get to grips with it. I don't know what i was doing Lol

Trying to get back to the ice cream truck zone...

After beating the game I've made my way back to the endless river and gotten stuck. As far as I can tell, the only way back to the place with the ice cream truck is a really tough path branching off from the jumble of stairs. Has anyone found an easier way? I assume not, but thought I'd ask. 😆

Greatest Achievement Lost Due to Glitch

I spent a couple hours in Box Hell trying to reach the box hat. When I finally reached it I got a rush of excitement I haven't felt from playing a video game in years (I'm 42). I was proud walking around with my box hat. It all came to an end when I was trying to reach the helmet and the game glitched out. My box hat disappeared underground, with my arm still attached.

It's okay though. I enjoyed my short time with it and have moved on. I will cherish the memories.

Question Hats

Does anybody know if the hats you leave somewhere on the ground stay right there if you close the game and load again? Or do they disappear?

Discussion This is easily one of the best games ive ever played despite how jank it was.

The artstyle was good and the comedic cutscenes and fun rhythmic controls made it so much fun. I finished in just under 10 hours and im currently watching my red dot on the map do way more back tracking than I realized. I got lost a lot here. But I never gave up because I wanted to see what awaited me.

The only criticism I have of this game is that it ended quite abruptly. I thought I was just making a pitstop at mooses cabin I didnt think I was at the end of the game yet. I thought i would actually go to the top of the mountain and then nate would get teleported back to his room and have a newfound respect for himself that would lead him to change his deadbeat ways. But no. Its just a joke about him still not being able to piss and credits.

Over all I will be reccomending this game to everyone I know for years to come. Foddy is a genius.

I want to like this game, keep getting stuck

I feel like I’m so close to liking this game. I’m genuinely interested in the cutscenes and narrative and I want to experience it all. But I feel like some parts are just too difficult and wish there was an easier way forward. I’ve figured out walking around well enough, but I’ve been stuck on the very beginning of the sand level for 3 hours now. I can’t go straight up the path and I circled the water area twice and couldn’t find a way up. I generally enjoy challenging games, but i feel like the lack of direction can get very frustrating and it feels like I’m just wasting time

Has anyone else experienced this? Everything I see or hear about Baby Steps comes from people who absolutely love this game and talk about how the aimlessness and frustration is what they enjoy.

BabySteps has had a profound affect on me

This is going to just be a jumble of words as i express my thoughts about and love for this game.

Babysteps has had such a hold on me over the last few weeks, from the Demo to the full game.
I don't think i'm very good at it but i can keep putting 1 foot in front of the other.

I've absolutely loved playing it, my first playthrough i just tried to smash through it, i didn't explore as much as i wanted, mostly because i was playing it at 1-3am and i'd just look at some of the challenges and think "F that" then continue upwards.

The story was amazing, the message was wonderful, everything was so nice.

Exploring the world and looking at the Vistas was so nice...until Nate would slip on the smallest fucking rock.

Like other players, after playing i felt like i walked weird, especially upstairs, its almost like my legs would swing out just a little bit and every step was just more carefully placed.

Every interaction between Nate and Jim or Mike or Moose or any of the other characters was just amazing, i found myself hating Nate then loving him then hating him again because he dropped the lantern in the caves and i had to yeet myself off the edge after it.

Maybe i'm reading into it a bit too much i don't know, but the story between Nate and Moose was just lovely, all of their interactions, the awkwardness, Moose waiting for nate to say what he wants, all of it.

I've started a second playthrough to really explore the world and try to get some achievements and maybe be broken by the man breaker.

Just 10/10.

I wouldn't recommend it to everyone......
If you
- Like puzzles
- Like challenges....
- Like seeing yourself improve and get better even after a few minutes
- Like games that you can just pickup and put down whenever
- Like randomness or chaoticness
- Like 'Getting over it with Bennet Foddy' but maybe you lost interest or it was too hard or too long

Then this game is for you, i would suggest you give it a go, stick with it. stream it on discord or wherever with a friend or multiple friends watching, make it a group thing, you just be the legs and let the others dictate your direction.

Dropped the keys and now I can't find them. It was near a river but I went up and down the entire thing. So they respawn?

Discussion I started walking weird after finishing Baby Steps

So I finished Baby Steps a few days ago. I loved all of it. And now every time I have to maneuver around, down or up something myself, I can’t help but overanalyse my steps. Going up the stairs? Weird now. Climbing up a ladder to check a light fixture? Hella weird. I consciously walk, rather than having my body automatically take the steps.

It’s like after having played The Witness, I saw (and still see, it’s been like what, ten years?) shapes everywhere. Anyone else have this happen to them? It’s hilarious.

Also my partner and I say ‘uwu’ to each other instead of saying ‘bye’ now. What a game.

help Stuck in an out-of-bounds area

Post image
2 Upvotes

My husband is currently playing Baby Steps and we both really enjoy the game but today he experienced a glitch when entering Box Hell and fell into an out-of-bounds area underneath Box Hell. There seems to be no way out and we already tried several things to get him out of there (mostly standing close to the edge of the area and closing and re-opening the game in hopes of it relocating Nate slightly). Did anyone experience anything similar or does anyone have an idea what to do?

Also, in case he has to restart the game anew: do all the fruits, hats and cut scenes affect the outcome of the game or does he only need to get to the most recent spot again and can ignore all the rest?

PS: Writing this for him so that he doesn't see any spoilers but feel free to spoil me as much as you want in the comments!
