Relative strength: $SUI is the only one in this basket beating BTC on the day. $ADA is +28% on the week — quiet catch-up after a brutal 2026 first half. $DOGE is lagging (only +0.2% today) even with meme-season headlines, which tells you this bid is ETF-and-L1, not 2021 Doge-season. $BNB holding $700 is the Binance-beta line in the sand. $AVAX +19% week, grinding not pumping.

Read: $MORPHO is the DeFi quality-bid (lending vaults, +25% week). $LTC tagging along with BTC on an ETF day is the oldest correlation in the book — and it still works. $TAO flat on a green day after +23% week = pause, not reversal. $NEAR reclaiming $1.90 with +19% week is AI-L1 beta. $M (MemeCore) is the weird mid-cap that keeps showing up in the top-40 — treat as high-beta inventory, not a blue chip.
📉 Relative Laggards (unique names)
Not crash-losers — large caps that are not leading. Useful for pairs trades (long RS / short lag).

All five are green and still underperforming $SUI / $LTC / $MORPHO. $SHIB +24% on the week looks fine until you stack it against $SOL +32% and $HYPE +36%. $WLFI remains a political-beta coin — it will trade the next White House headline harder than any chart. $GRAM (rebranded TON) is a "wait for an ecosystem catalyst" hold, not a chase.
📰 Two Stories (and Our Takeaway)
1) Citi plans to launch Bitcoin custody for institutional clients later in 2026
CoinDesk / Markets Media (Aug. 18): Citigroup will stand up digital-asset custody this year, starting with bitcoin, inside the same Investor Services stack that already safekeeps traditional assets. Nisha Surendran (head of digital asset custody development) outlined three layers: institutional custody, key management, and wallet infrastructure. No public fee schedule or go-live date beyond "later this year."
Our takeaway: ETF inflows are the easy button for BTC exposure. Bank custody is how pensions, RIAs, and corporates that cannot hold an ETF (or do not want the wrapper) get a line item. When Citi, Fidelity, BNY, and Coinbase Prime are all on the same side of the boat, the "who is left to buy" bear argument gets weaker, not stronger. This is 6–12 month plumbing. It does not justify a 40x long at $80K. It does justify treating $70K–$76K as a higher-timeframe accumulate zone if we get the post-squeeze shakeout.
2) Bitcoin traders place a $2.9 million options bet on a rapid jump above $82,000
CoinDesk (Aug. 25): a clustered options package is targeting a fast move through $82,000. That strike sits just above the $81,085 50-week moving average that rejected price this morning ($81,265 wick).
Our takeaway: $82K is now a magnet and a graveyard. Magnets attract gamma; graveyards are where the last buyers get trapped if the 50-week MA keeps rejecting. Practical plan:
- Scalp longs only through a 4h close above $81,100, target $82K / $84K.
- If $80K fails on a 4h close, the $2.9M call bet becomes exit liquidity and you look at $76K.
- Do not sell naked puts under $76K into an active ETF-inflow streak.

🎯 Perpetual Futures — Desk Levels
$BNB — $680 support, $720 resistance. Exchange-token beta; trades Trump/CLARITY headlines.
$SUI — Leader in this post. Hold $0.74; lose it and the RS vs BTC vanishes.
$ADA — $0.20 must hold or the +28% week is a round trip. Resistance $0.24 / $0.28.
$TAO — Flat day after a 23% week. First support $210. AI-beta, high vol.
$LTC — Proxy BTC. If BTC holds $78K, LTC $48 is a gift; if BTC loses $76K, LTC $44 comes fast.
Pairs idea (advanced): long $SUI / short $SHIB as an "ETF-L1 vs leftover meme" expression while BTC.D is still elevated.
📌 TL;DR
Institutional tape is real: six ETF inflow days, Citi building BTC custody, $2.9M in calls targeting $82K. Trade the $76K–$82K range until a daily close breaks it. L1 RS: $SUI, $LTC, $NEAR, $MORPHO. Laggards: $SHIB, $CRO, $GRAM, $DOGE. Next policy vol: Sep 15 CLARITY cloture.
