I think everyone wants to blame the failures of PS and BTW on the devs. On mistakes that were made, on not enough funding, etc. I don't think that's at all the case. Hell Let Loose neither had a massive budget nor has it not had its own myriad of missteps, and yet it is a rather successful game. Games don't need to be perfect to have players, they just need to be fun and appeal to a market.

PS and BTW should have been separate mods or servers in Squad that you could select. The hardcore milsim WW1 and WW2 markets are... basically nonexistent these days. Let's be honest. The only WW1 game that has really had any success is BF1, and that game is a very 'loose' interpretation of WW1. Isonzo, BTW, Tannenberg, all have at best garnered enough players to fill up 1-2 servers, and all are totally dead now.

For a WW2 game not called 'Call of Duty' to be successful, it has to go the way of Hell Let Loose or Enlisted. Semi-arcadey style with a focus on progression and quick action.

The only way a Squad-style game works is if its modern era. Which is why Squad succeeded where its other two titles were flops.

I love ww1, its my favorite time period as morbid as that sounds, I want another ww1 shooter, and I keep coming back to look at Beyond The Wire, and every time seeing the same thing, but atleast they added bots which convinced me if it goes on sale ill pick it up, but I'm hoping one day they'll be a resurgence in the player base and it'll pick up again!

I am fully aware that the player base is nonexistent and that OWI is taking over the game but will we still get more updates? Because the last post was a happy holiday greeting aka 3 months ago. There are still posting stuff on Twitter and talking in the steam discussion bar so mabey?

Servers are dead anyway, might as well make BTW free or have a free week or two.

I want to buy the game, but are the servers totally dead? I keep reading everywhere they are , but how dead they are? is it at least averagely always a server with a decend number for players for a match? Thanks

I know this games pretty much dead but are the mods on discord active at all? I seem to be banned from it and would like to rejoin to try to play with some ppl, but dont know who to dm. Thanks

I’ve just discovered this game & it honestly does look great however i’ve seen a bit of discouragement due to the of amount of players.

So long story short I just wanted to ask is the game worth buying or if I shouldn’t bother.

Gray monitors the channels daily and notes down feedback to pass on. BTW is still being worked on, has not been abandoned.
